Hotel St Moritz Queenstown
If youre planning a winter getaway, then the Hotel St. Moritz Queenstown is a fantastic choice. The chalet-style hotel is clearly inspired by Alpine architecture, which makes sense since it is situated at the base of the Remarkables mountain range. As a guest, youll be able to walk from your hotel room to the Skyline Gondola in around 10 minutes. The hotel also overlooks Lake Wakatipu, and the restaurant boasts a wonderful view of the water. You can also unwind after a long day in the sauna or the outdoor hot tubs.

A slice of home away from home, this place is less of a backpackers digs and more of a comfortable place to kick back. The view of the mountain range is mesmerising and makes it an extra-special spot. Rooms are clean and theres a brilliant shared kitchen and living space. The location is close to shops and the airport too, so its extra convenient.

Amazing Scenery Fantastic Restaurants Great Outdoor
Amazing scenery, fantastic restaurants, great outdoor activities and shopping and really friendly staff in every place we visited. We took a flight cruise flight with True South flights to Milford sounds, the best experience to date. If you have time take the short road trip to Glenorchy. It was well worth it for the Mountainous scenery. There is a fantastic short loop track with many spots to take photos of the mountains and the reflections in the water.
Tss Earnslaw: Queenstown Cruise & Walter Peak Gourmet Bbq
âCombine a lake cruise with a lakeside gourmet BBQ lunch or dinner. See a demonstration of New Zealand sheep shearing and sheep dogs at work.â
Price: From $75 USD
Review: âPretty much lived to the expectations. We had our cruise to the farm, where we first got invited to sit down for the buffet dinner with plenty of choices and then we were invited to a stage nearby where we had a farm show featuring sheep and dogs. It was really nice overall, but I wished we had more time to spend at the farm. After the show with the sheep, we barely walked through the rest of the farm on our own to see Alpacas and cows for like 5-7 minutes before we got called to go back to the boat. Most of the visitors didnt even get to see the other animals as they spent those 5-7 minutes in the gift shop near the show stage..â Ciprian, Switzerland

The Best Overall Airbnb Queenstown New Zealand
Location: Queenstown, Otago, New Zealand
Airbnb Plus: No
Price: $326+ per night
My choice for âBest Overallâ Airbnb in Queenstown would be this luxurious penthouse with amazing views. Itâs a one-bedroom penthouse with luxurious amenities a fully equipped kitchen, open plan living space, a courtyard with a fireplace and a hot tub overlooking the lake and the mountains. But what makes this the best Airbnb âthe bestâ for me is the little comforts that the host added to make guests have an amazing experience such as the heated ensuite and bathroom floors, a book of local activities recommendations, and reservations can be made by the host for the best local restaurants for guests to experience. You wonât want to leave this Airbnb!
Guest Review: One of the best air bnbs we have stayed in! The pictures donât do it justice- the views are incredible and the apartment itself is beautiful. Easy walk or drive in to downtown queenstown and the lake. Kaye was also easily accessible by phone when a small issue arose which was much appreciated! Jacqueline

Downtown Where To Stay In Queenstown On A Budget
Right next to the city centre and close to the lake, this central location is good for travellers who want to get involved in adventure sports. There are many booking agents for the adventurous among you, plus simple tours of the region for those who arent keen on bungee jumping.
In Downtown Queenstown youll also be in the middle of many restaurants and bars, so you can grab a bite to eat and something to drink pretty easily. Accommodation in this area is much cheaper than in other areas of Queenstown, but it brings with it the congestion of a city.

Although Local Businesses May Be Finding The Lack Of
Although local businesses may be finding the lack of tourists visiting hard, for us, it was superb – no queues for anything and not having to avoid large groups of people was great. We stayed at a different end of the lake and can totally recommend anyone taking the time to make the journey to Glenorchy – superb and very picturesque. Would also recommend eating at Botswana Butchery and Rata Definitely go on the Earnslaw – even if you’ve done it before – and go visit the animals at Walter Peak – so worth the journey.

I absolutely loved my stay at this hotel. Everything was delightful, from the beautiful quirky decor, the friendly helpful and polite staff, to the complimentary drinks and snacks. The location is great, it is just a short walk into the centre of Queenstown. The hotel is very clean and has everything you would need for a relaxing stay. I could see the snow capped mountains from my room, which was a treat to wake up to. I highly recommend staying here and I cant wait to come back again.

For A Room With A View
- Azur Lodge is a collection of nine villas, just five minutes drive from Queenstown, but right on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, with views across the lake to The Remarkables beyond. Each villa has floor to ceiling windows and living and dining areas, and the whole place feels tranquil and secluded.
- Matakauri Lodge has a stunning spot on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, and each of its 16 rooms, villas and suites have private balconies or decks from which to take full advantage of the stunning views. Theres also a heated outdoor infinity pool, a gym and a spa, and youre just seven minutes drive from Queenstown.
- The walls of glass at QT Queenstown offer some of the most incredible views of the lake and the mountains in town. The bar and restaurant have walls of glass, and the best of the 69 rooms and suites do too, with private all-glass balconies as well. Theres a heated plunge pool and sauna if you are skiing all day, their chic bar is known for its cocktails, and the restaurant for its international fusion feasts.

Things To Consider When Booking Your Stay
- Parking Queenstown is a small town and so parking is at a premium. Not all properties offer parking. If they don’t, you’ll most likely have to find free street parking overnight.
- Walking distance Not all properties are equal here. It’s hard to visualize when viewing a map but ones on a hill are going to of course require a bit more effort to climb.
- Wifi One thing you learn pretty quickly about New Zealand is that unlimited wifi is not the standard. Most places only offer free wifi numbering in the hundreds of MB before you have to purchase more.
- Staying outside of the downtown There’s definitely a case for staying outside especially if you have your own car because parking becomes less of a hassle and you’re usually looking at nicer and larger accommodations. The downside is that when you go downtown, you’ll have to figure out where to park.
- Looking for guesthouses and B& Bs What I love about Booking.com is that you can get Airbnb-type guest homes but have much more flexibility when it comes to cancellation
- Airbnb still an option If you love Airbnb, that is still an option for you. Make sure to take advantage of creating a new account to get up free credit by signing up here.

The big rooms at this hotel boast large windows, which let in lots of light and show off the surrounding landscape. Guest Review: Thank you Ginny for being such a wonderful host! Honestly, cannot recommend this place enough, it has a view to die for, situated in a very tranquil location, about a 15-20min drive to Queenstown and 10 mins to Arrowtown, fantastic host that welcomes you with a bottle of champagne and cheese platter and the airbnb is very modern.
