This hotel was very nice. It was in a safe area, very clean outside and inside. We got a downstairs room. The clerk at front desk was very nice and helpful and gave us good ideas on what to eat and places to go. The setup of the bathroom was really cute and I liked how it was semi separate. Ok onto the breakfast. Most of the places I have been to during the pandemic have been to go bags. But this place…oh yeah. Hot breakfast and it’s honestly one of the tastiest. The omelette had meat and some delicious spices and cheese. The cutest little pancakes. And nicely cooked potatoes. They do require you are masked and serve yourself while wearing gloves. Ok enough about breakfast! Great clean hotel 5stars!!

Thank you so much for your time and feedback we appreciate you! We hope to see you again in the near future!

Downtown Roswell Alien Strip

You can spot a fair share of aliens as you walk around South Main Street. There are green footprints that lead you to the International UFO Museum and Research Center, murals on the sides of buildings, and even alien head lamp posts.

Step into some of the stores for souvenirs and selfies with your favorite little green men and women. Even the national chains have gotten in on the action. Although you may spot aliens at Walmart and KFC, McDonalds steals the show with a saucer shaped restaurant!

Alien Zone Best Choice For Alien Photos:

I am SOOOO glad I discovered Alien Zone before we left Roswell! Be forewarned its cheesy.like beyond cheesy.but its totally worth it! Its within walking distance of the International UFO Museum & Research Center and the FUN rate is off the charts if youre looking for crazy alien photos!

Basically you pay an entrance fee , enter this dark hallway, and come to a large segmented room with random alien photo props.

Dont think about who all has been there chilling on this couch with this alienhe has seen some things.

Theres a backyard bbq with alien zone, aliens hanging from upside down off the ceiling, and all other sorts of crazy poses and scenarios! Theres even an alien sitting in a port a potty! Its totally fake and over the top props in a warehouse type set up but its a blast for fun silly pictures!

My 4 year old tends to be pretty easily skittish but since nothing scary was loud or popped out at her she seemed to be OK in Alien Zone regardless of the darkness between each alien scene.

Its a great spot for weird family photos, kids, kitchy trips with friends, etc. If youre not ALL IN with some wildly fake and fun pictures then I recommend skipping Alien Zone. It definitely depends on your personality and what kind of experience you are looking for.

What To Know Before You Go

Many travelers are surprised to learn that New Mexico is the nations fourth-highest state. While the elevation in Roswell is 3,500 feet, it only takes a change in altitude of 1,000 feet to trigger altitude sickness. Be sure to drink plenty of water and take other measures to avoid altitude sickness.

Throughout New Mexico, be prepared for the state question, Red or green? to determine if youd like red chiles or green chiles added to your meal. If you want to try both, simply reply, Christmas.

Top UFO Town in the USA | Worth Visit | Roswell, New Mexico

In addition to the Goddard Planetarium, the Roswell Museum & Art Center houses a collection of more than 11,000 works of art and historical artifacts. The museum focuses on the indigenous Pueblo tribes and artists of the region, but the collection also includes works by Dali, Picasso, OKeeffe, and other world-renowned artists.

From a historical perspective, the museum focuses on the history of the American West, from the impact the Spanish conquest and European-American settlers had on the region to New Mexicos tie with missiles and space. In fact, the planetarium is named for Robert H. Goddard, the founder of modern rocketry, who built the worlds first liquid-fueled rocket and broke the sound barrier with a rocket launched in the open desert near Roswell. Dont miss the opportunity to see a recreation of his rocket engine workshop at the museum when you visit Roswell.

Plan Your New Mexico Road Trip

In order to get around New Mexico, you need to have a car. We were surprised to find that Sheena was able to rent a car much cheaper as an Australian than I was as an American. If youre an international visitor, keep that in mind during your online research as this could save you a lot of money.

Although the U.S. is a relatively safe country for travel, medical costs are high so if youre an international visitor we recommend purchasing travel insurance before any trip. Weve been using World Nomads through 80+ countries over the past 12 years and have been really happy with their coverage and services.

How To Spend A Day In Intriguing Roswell New Mexico

On a warm summer day in 1947, a New Mexico rancher stumbled upon mysterious debris strewn across the desert near his home. Although the rubber strips and bright pieces of tinfoil he collected and turned in to the authorities have since been found to be the result of Project Mogul, a military project that used high-flying balloons to monitor the Soviet Unions atomic bomb tests, many people still enjoy the idea that aliens landed in Roswell. Its a popular conspiracy theory on par with determining who really killed President John F. Kennedy or proving the moon landing was faked.

And so, curious visitors continue to flock to Roswell, a dramatic television series is based on the premise that aliens live among the townspeople, and the small southeastern New Mexico town embraces its connection to aliens more than 70 years later.

But once youve binged on all things alien, there is much more to see and do in Roswell.

Ufo Attractions And Events

As you pass the shops, restaurants, and hotels along MainStreet, it is hard to ignore the aliens. In addition to souvenirs and pictures that serve as reminders, there are signs like Alien Zone, Outlaw Alien Bike Shop, Galaxy Entertainment, and there is even a McDonalds Flying Disc. There are those who appreciate the UFO attractions and those who remain indifferent and are here just to take note of the extravagance. Regardless of the many opinions on what happened here, Roswell has managed to create a big business out of this phenomenon.

But the icing on the cake is the International UFO Museum & Research Center . Inside the atmosphere is both serious and fun, in the sense that the facts are well highlighted, and there are remains, photos, and reports of the time, but there are also sections that treat the subject in a more lighthearted way. The aliens are represented according to the version of who would have seen them before they moved to Area 51. Ufologists or simply those interested in the incident will find it interesting. The museum is open every day from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The entrance fee is $5 for adults, $3 for people over 65, and $2 for children aged 5 to 15.

Experience The Great Outdoors At Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge Or Bottomless Lakes State Park

With its mild climate and abundant sunshine, Roswell is a great place to enjoy the outdoors.

Located on the northeastern edge of town, the Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge is home to bobcats, badgers, and deer. The refuge is also a great place to observe thousands of migratory birds. While the scenery is always gorgeous, the best time to catch the critters is within a few hours of sunrise or sunset.

Just a few miles southeast of Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge is Bottomless Lakes State Park. This is another great place to go birding, but you can also kayak, canoe, fish, or even scuba dive at Bottomless Lakes. The state park got its name from the sinkholes that make the lakes appear to be bottomless. Some are as deep as 90 feet! In addition to the water, Bottomless Lakes State Park offers nearly 5 miles of hiking trails, campsites, and picnic areas.

International Ufo Museum & Research Center:

The International UFO Museum & Research Center is a really cool place for kids around ages 10+..if they are interested in aliens! I had my 4 year old in tow and aside from an alien statue or two, she was extremely disinterested in the museum as most of it is reading newspaper articles and research plaques.

I unfortunately did not get the chance to read much of anything as I was trying to keep her occupied so her brothers could enjoy the museum. The museum covered everything from flashing lights and the fakest alien ship display and far out theories to newspaper articles and documented resources revolving the famous Roswell alien crash.

So be forewarned if you have young kids they will get bored in this museum in a quick heartbeat! Its more reading documentation then quirky displays If youre anywhere near Roswell though, its certainly worth the one-time stop in to check out the museum to say youve been there.

That being said there is one AWESOME interactive display in the middle of the room that lights up and drops fog every 15 minutes or so which is totally worth seeing! Be prepared for noises and fog and quite the light show. It left me wishing the ENTIRE museum were more animated!

Since we had such a short time just passing through Roswell, I wish we would have bought more souvenirs here at the International UFO Museum gift shop.
