Where To Stay In St George
Our family loves to stay at The Inn at Entrada. We have stayed here the past 3 years in a row, and intend to stay here for many more years to come. We get a 3 bedroom casita, which sleeps up to 8. Its amazing to have our own house and enough space that we arent all on top of each other during our trip.
The Inn at Entrada kind of like an AirBnB, only way better because of all the amenities- and there is always someone on site at the front desk, if you need more towels or something.
There is an indoor and outdoor pool, basketball courts, tennis and pickleball courts, sand volleyball, ping pong, exercise room, restaurants, and a golf course on the property. We feel like we could just stay on the property forever and never be bored.
You can read about our past 2 years at the Inn at Entrada here and here.

Johnson Farm Dinosaur Track Site
At first sight Dr. Johnson thought that the dinosaur was embedded in the rock and only its foot was exposed. The tracks were found on the underside of the bedrock. Instead of an imprint, the track was in the form of a cast. He then proceeded to turn over another slab of rock and noticed an imprint in the sand beneath the cast in the rock. The track casts turned out to be over two hundred million years old and were made by dinosaurs stepping in 8 inches of moist clay. The footprints left in the clay were eventually filled in with sand, which in time turned into the rock that we now see. When the stones are turned upside down we see the underside of a dinosaurs footprint.
Visit St George Temple
Starting with the places of worship, this is a magnificently built temple. Its inception dates back to 1872 and shortly after it came into existence. Although only followers of Mormonism are allowed to enter the premises, a visitor center is set up for the public to come and learn about the religion. The temple is big enough for one to locate from any part of the city as its in a beautiful and central location. Moreover, as it is bright white, anyone can spot it.

Fun Parks In St George
St George is always sunny and beautiful. One of our favorite things is to explore all of the different parks they have available. Some of our favorites are:
Thunder Junction this is an all abilities park with the coolest dinosaur themed playground. They have ziplines, slides, spinners, towers, and climbing walls. The best part is that they have a little train that drives around the park. The train is $1 per person, but the rest of the park is free.
Hidden Valley Park this park has a splash pad with a big water tank that dumps water out. If you are visiting St George in the Summer, make sure to check our Hidden Valley. So cute and fun.
Downtown Historic St George this isnt really a playground type park, but if you visit St George, you need to stop by historic downtown, near the childrens museum . There is a cute little stream that runs through the town square, and a darling little carousel. My kids loved visiting Downtown Historic St George.
Vernon Worthen Park this is a cute little playground right in the middle of town, close to the temple. The thing that makes this park great is there is a lot of open grass to run or throw a ball. The photos below are from this park.
Red Hill Desert Garden

Near the center of town, at 375 Red Hills Pkwy, on the hill overlooking St. George, there is the Red Hill Desert Garden, an interesting free botanical garden. For those who do not have time for more demanding hikes, I absolutely recommend you spend half an hour observing the desert flora in the typical red rock setting. In addition to enjoying the thousands of colors of the desert flowers, you can also see a large number of aquatic plants and fish in the pond in the garden and a small underwater observatory. Here you can also see desert turtles!

St George Historic District
Soon after the pioneers entered the valley of the Great Salt Lake, Mormon leader Brigham Young began sending leaders out to explore the vast reaches of what was to become the Utah territory. In the late 1850s one such leader was Jacob Hamblin who helped to establish a new community along the banks of the Santa Clara River near what is now St. George, Utah. Early settlers to this area built homes made of Adobe and wood. Eventually Brigham Young himself began to spend his winters in St. George. His home is now open every day for tours. One of the first buildings constructed was the Tabernacle building which continues to serve today as a gathering place for many events and performances. The first Mormon Temple west of the Mississippi was constructed in St. George. Even Jacob Hamblins home still exists and is also open for tours on a daily basis. The historic district of St. George is just one of the things youll enjoy about this area of southern Utah.
