Places To Stay In Tamarindo

From Liberia To Tamarindo By Car/ Taxi

My Fave Spots In Around Tamarindo | Costa Rica Travel Guide

Liberia airport is the closest international airport to Tamarindo, and Id highly recommend you to fly to this airport if your destination in Costa Rica is Tamarindo. It only takes an hour from Liberia airport, as opposed to 4 to 6 hours of driving from San Joses airport, Juan Santamaría International Airport.

A private taxi costs around USD 70, though I managed to get one for USD 50.

Eat Authentic Italian At Antichi Sapori Tamarindo

During my stay in Tamarindo, I enjoyed dinner at a lot of great restaurants. However, none compared to the delicious Italian food at Antichi Sapori Tamarindo.

Antichi Sapori Tamarindo is only a small restaurant with only a few tables thats owned and operated by a couple from Sicily. The husband serves, the wife cooks, and the food is top-notch authentic Italian.

I had the seafood pasta during our last visit, and Bailey had the pistachio gnocchi. Both were amazing, and we also had wine and finished with homemade cannolis. However, the restaurant has all five-star reviews, and many others commented on the pizza and the gluten-free options.

The restaurant gets very busy, and most nights, you need a reservation to get a table. With that said, call ahead and see. This is not to be missed!

This hotel provides direct access to three beaches. Ones best for snorkeling, another for swimming and surfing, and the last one has a beach club. Theres a kids club for the young travelers to enjoy ping pong, chess, foosball and movie nights.

An impressive golf course designed by Mike Young on the expansive grounds is part of the resort. Theres a tennis court, mountain bikes, surfboards, and boogie boards to make use off. Tamarindo Is A Costa Rica Beach Town

Tamarindo is a Costa Rica Beach town. Surfing is available and ready for the surf to come up. There are many stores, and restaurants. Some of the restaurants have interesting beach style names. I would not go during the heat of mid afternoon again. I think the morning would have been the best for me since there are so many coffee cafes available. The beach is open to all. It seemed to be a city wide past time to bring chairs, or towels to watch the sunset. I felt comfortable. However, like any traveler, you must be watchful of your possessions. Do not leave items unattended or you should expect it to be a donation. My husband did want to go the casino, but we just did not have the time.

Which Is Better Tamarindo Or Jaco

If you follow the coast south of Tamarindo, you will find the beach town Jaco, which is also located on the Pacific side of Costa Rica. Jaco is another popular destination for expats wanting to live near the beach.

Compared to Tamarindo, Jaco is much bigger, giving it less of a town vibe. The beaches are black, and not as clean. In addition, the sea has a strong rip current making it less safe to swim.

Compared to Tamarindo, the expat community in Jaco is much smaller. However, the beach is an hour and a half away from the largest city in Costa Rica, San Jose, and attracts many local families.

Both beach towns are known for their nightlife, along with drug use and the high flow of alcohol. But, if you ask around, more people will say that Jaco is less safe and less family-friendly.

If you compare how well its developed, Jaco is ahead of Tamarindo. It is famous for the excellent paved road along the beach and luxury hotels.

The prices of food are more reasonable in Jaco due to the high competition in restaurants. Both beach towns are known for their great surfable waves attracting surfers year-round.

HOW TO TRAVEL TAMARINDO – Must See, Must Do, Must Eat

Tamarindo is a popular beach town and holiday-makers destination on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica.

Its kilometers of golden sand beaches, incredible surf and abundance of bars and restaurants encourage people to flock there every year. The nearby Liberia International Airport also makes it a super convenient place to get to especially for American tourists.

Visiting Tamarindo is easy as its adapted to be the perfect tourist destination. Once a quaint little fishing village, Tamarindo now has everything someone on vacation could want beaches, adventure, restaurants, bars and shops.

This has earnt it a somewhat touristy reputation and the nickname Tamagringo . Were going to be honest that Tamarindo isnt for everyone, and there are much better places in Costa Rica to visit.

It really depends on what youre looking for from your trip. Relaxation, ease and luxury are all over Tamarindo, but culture, authenticity and nature isnt really what you will find here anymore!

That being said, a lot of fun can be had in the little beach town. Theres plenty of activities to get involved in such as an ATV tour along the beach and in the jungle, a sunset catamaran cruise or improving your surf skills.
