This is one of the most endearing and unique places to stay in New York and in a city like the Big Apple thats saying something! Housed in a converted factory, the now very polished 4-star and exceptionally rated Box Hotel has suitably very cool industrial-chic interiors.
The hotel is adorned with artwork commissioned by local artists and other great design features such as hardwood floors and pendant lamps. Most of the rooms are actually more like apartments just extremely visually striking ones and the loft rooms and 1- to 2-bedroom apartments have fully equipped kitchens, cozy living rooms, and pull-out couches.
There are suite-like bedrooms also available and all benefit from free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, coffee-making facilities, balconies offering some superb city views as well as a communal gym, a dry sauna, and steam room. As well as being a super cool New York abode, its location is pretty funky too, its based just across the road from Pulaski Bridge in Brooklyn, only a 9-minute walk from the Greenpoint Avenue subway station and 6 miles from the Empire State Building and if things cant get much cooler theres even a shuttle service to the subway in a 1970s checker cab not bad at all!

Confession: We didnt visit the SoHo area until our penultimate weekend living in NYC. After that we visited twice more because we enjoyed it so much.
SoHo stands for South of Houston Street and despite being crowded, its cobblestone streets and high end shops make it a very quaint place to walk around.
It is always packed wall to wall with tourists and locals, restaurants are overflowing with no chance of getting a table unless you reserve ahead of time and theres a natural feel good aura.
Midtown South Manhattan Where To Stay In New York City To Be At The Heart Of Everything
Midtown South in Manhattan is about the closest area we could come up to encompass the strip of real estate between Madison Square Park and Bryant Park, sandwiched between 5th and 6th avenues.
This central strip of Midtown South is where you will find NoMad, Koreatown, Empire State Building and Macys department store.
Technically this area could stretch a little further South and West into Chelsea, which we loved walking around but think is more for third, fourth or fifth time visitors to NYC.

Should I Stay In Times Square Or Central Park
Hello!
I am going in August to New York for the first time and want to explore the city. My husband and I are both in a late 20’s.
I have seen a few hotels and I want to book one today or tomorrow. Before I do I just wanted to know if it is worth staying in Times Square of just outside of it?
The two hotels I am considernig are Hilton Times Square or Jumeriah Essex Towers oppositte central park.
Both of these hotels do not offer breakfast and the price I pay is just for the room, however they are both near a subway also and they both seem like the provide good service.
Any help or recommendations please?

For me, that’s easy – go with the Jumeriah. The location of the Jumeriah is much better in my opinion, and it’s the sort of hotel that appeals to me more – more of a boutique hotel.
The craziness of Times Square is nice to visit, but not to stay in.

Is Jumeriah Essex a boutique hotel? I prefer large hotels to be honest.
Well my budget in sterling is about £600-700 for the whole 4 days , im not sure what that is in dollars? I would love for it to be cheaper but I don’t think I can get a nice hotel for any less in
The Jumeriah Essex House has about 500 rooms, so it’s actually a bit bigger than the Hilton Times Square . It’s a more distinctive hotel than the Hilton which has more of a “cookie cutter” feel to it.
