We Lived In This Area For Many Years
We lived in this area for many years. Portland is where you go for activities unless you are in Vancouver for a specific purpose. We were here for a wedding and the location of the hotel was ideal. Restaurants, freeway access and a large mall all very close. We were with our children and grandchild so we ate at Red Robin. One evening we enjoyed Hudson’s starters and a glass of wine.

Where To Stay In Vancouver: Introducing Vancouver
mountains, ocean, and forest, Vancouver deserves as much glass as possible.
This busy port city is one of Canadas most diverse. In particular, Vancouver has a large Asian population. In fact, it once earned the not-intended-to-be-pejorative nickname, Hongcouver.
Part of Vancouvers diversity is due to geography. Vancouver is the most logical first stop for flights originating in East Asia.
However, its also a function of Canadas immigration policies. Add to that, Vancouver frequently makes the top 5 on global livable cities lists.
Unlike most of Canada, Vancouver has a temperate climate. This makes it an attractive destination for Canadian and international travelers.
In winter, its mild and wet, situated as it is in a temperate rainforest. In summer, sunny and mild weather makes the city come alive.
As a Vancouver native, Ive never thought about how difficult it must be to find the best area to stay in Vancouver.
As with any city, there are a lot of options. The sheer quantity of choices can be overwhelming. That said, choosing the right Vancouver neighborhood can make or break a trip.
Less than a 15 minute walk from one another, Gastown vs. Yaletown vs. the Financial District have very different vibes. This is especially true in the evening.
Kitsilano is a student favorite, but families will also love this beachside neighborhood.

Attractions Near Me: Vancouver Land Bridge Vancouver Washington
The Vancouver Land Bridge, also known as the Confluence Project, is a 40-foot-wide, earth-covered pedestrian bridge that connects the historic Fort Vancouver with the Columbia River waterfront. The bridge is lined with indigenous plants and Native basket weavings in celebration of the European and Native American cultures that once converged on this site. The site is renowned as the place where the Hudson’s Bay Company stood as the first European trading post in the Pacific Northwest, as well as the spot where Lewis and Clark camped, which would later become Fort Vancouver.
The southern end of the bridge has a Welcome Gate designed by Native American artist Lillian Pitt, consisting of two cedar canoe panels adorned with cast-glass sculptures that signify the point as a historic tribal crossroads and contact between two cultures.

When it comes to visiting Canada, Vancouver is a great place to start. There is so much to do and see in the capital of British Columbia that you could spend weeks exploring and STILL not see everything worth seeing. And thats not even taking into account all the amazing places you can experience outside of the city with a car and a few hours to spare. Youve only got a few days though, and I wrote this guide to the best places to stay in Vancouver, BC to ensure you get the most out of your stay.
Vancouver, like Seattle, is one of the most beautiful cities in North America with its sleek and modern downtown juxtaposed with the rocky mountain peaks that serve as the citys picturesque backdrop. And the FOOD. Farm-to-table culture in Vancouver has created a thriving food scene, with restaurants and food trucks using the bounty of fresh local ingredients, wine, and cider sourced from the nearby Okanagan Valley.
The outdoor spaces are the true star of the city though, with gardens, parks, and outdoor areas to explore around every corner. The best, of course, is Stanley Park which offers 1,000+ acres of forest and gardens, an aquarium, and First Nation totem poles. Rent a bike to explore the park and cycle along the seafront promenade.
