Can You Stay On A Budget In Paris Yes
Indeed you can stay in Paris on a budget.
You have two options:
- Stay in a hostel. There are a few in the city, especially in arrondissement 18 and 19. A bunk bed will not break your wallet.
- Stay in the city borders, outside the 20 arrondissements. Just keep in mind that it is paramount to stay as close as possible to a metro or train station, otherwise, you will spend more time travelling than enjoying the city
If you are after a double room and you really want to stay in the city then the arrondissements 11 and 19 are the best bets.
In arrondissement 18 I can suggest the Hotel Luxia. The building is old and a bit tired but clean and with a great breakfast included in the price. Its meters away from the Anvers Metro station, a real bonus.
The Comfort Hotel Nation Père Lachaise is also a great choice for couples on a budget, located right in arrondissement 11 and literally meters away from the Rue des Boulets metro station. They do offer also last minute deals which are unbelievable.
You May also look at the Perfect Hotel & Hostel. They do offer very cheap accommodation, still in a clean environment

Saint Germain 6th Arrondissement
If you are looking for that classic Parisian neighborhood feel that allows you to escape the craziness of other parts of the city, then Saint Germain is the best area to stay in Paris. Especially if you have kids.
Here youll spend your days sitting in the citys most trendy cafés lining Saint Germain and people watching. With plenty of busy shops, cool boutiques, and cafes, its lively atmosphere will keep children interested and thrill older travelers as well.
This area also houses the Jardins Luxembourg which we have always suggested is the perfect spot for a picnic and it is within walking distance to sites like the Musee DOrsay and Notre Dame.
Saint Germain des Près is one of the best neighborhoods in Paris to base yourself if you are traveling with your family.
Eiffel Tower Where To Stay In Paris For Your First Time
Paris 7th Arrondissement is one of the most iconic neighbourhoods in the city. Situated on the Left Bank, the 7th Arrondissement is right in the heart of the action, making it the best neighbourhood in Paris to stay in for sightseeing. Its home to popular tourist attractions like the Eiffel Tower and Les Invalides, as well as world-class museums and delicious restaurants. This area is perhaps the best area to stay in Paris the first time around as its central and near to famous landmarks. However, it is pricy and perhaps not the coolest area of town.

Situated on the left bank of the River Seine, the fifth arrondissement earned its name during the Middle Ages when Latin was the common language. The Latin Quarter is home to many cafes, bookshops, and restaurants catered more towards the student market.

Synonymous with bohemian Paris, once home to famous writers such as Hemingway, the Latin Quarter has the benefit of being within walking distance to most of the main cities with a cheaper price point and a lively bar and cafe scene to enjoy.
Since the area surrounds Paris most prestigious universities, youll find plenty of students and cheaper establishments targeted at students.
Wander the vibrant market streets like the 800-year-old Rue Mouffetard for traditional shopping and souvenirs, and pick up a picnic from the local vendors before settling along the Seine.
Dont forget to explore the nearby photogenic Place de la Contrescarpe and Rue Monge for cobbled streets and pretty houses.

St Germain & The Latin Quarter: Best Of The Left Bank
St. Germain offers a central location and a classic Parisian feel with its streets overflowing with history as the neighborhood where Ernest Hemingway liked to hang out in the cafes and Picasso painted his famous Guernica. Many famous artists and writers enjoyed drinking coffee along the river, although now theyve moved on to other areas as its become far too pricey.
Its one of the citys classiest districts, filled with illustrious museums, upscale galleries, designer brand stores, eclectic eateries and Paris oldest church, the Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Pres. The area is also ideal for practicing the art of flaneur .
St. Germain is definitely worth the splurge if you can manage it, putting you just a short walk from Musée dOrsay, with its collection of impressionist art and the gorgeous Luxembourg Gardens, perfect for relaxing on a bench and enjoying some old-fashioned people watching.
If its not in your budget, consider the Latin Quarter, which also offers some enticing areas as a lively neighborhood primarily home to students, with La Sorbonne, the citys oldest university found here. Its centrally located in the fifth arrondissement on the left bank bordering the river, with Rue Mouffetard, a fabulous market street an ideal spot for sampling a wide range of tasty local eats.

Post offices are or at least used to be inherently romantic places, and none more so than the central post office in Paris. Not only was it as vast and grand as any of the galleries in the nearby Louvre Museum, it was also open 24 hours a day. Its closure for renovation seven years ago was an inconvenience that over time became a matter of consternation to residents. What would become of this beloved landmark? Alors. You should have seen the looks on faces of passers-by the double-takes, the eyes widening in astonishment when Madame Reve, which occupies a substantial portion of the post-office building, opened this past autumn. A seductive honeyed glow emanates from the discreet corner entrance. Through the windows of its ground-floor cafe are visible a stupendous space of boiserie panels, acres of golden velvet, a forest of columns rising to 26ft-high ceilings. These tantalising hints of splendour are matched by the transcendent outlook from the hotels top-storey restaurant, La Plume. The rooftop terrace, directly accessible from the restaurant, is an ideal place from which to survey a rapidly changing neighbourhood one referred to as the New Golden Triangle. And perhaps most marvellous of all, a smaller version of that much-missed old post office has reopened almost directly below. SK

What was originally Paris Jewish Quarter is today the most vibrant and exciting district not just in Paris, but in the whole of France.
Le Marais is a beautiful district, first and foremost. Its buildings overflow with lovingly detailed and beautiful architectural flair and flourish.
There is so much class carved into the average building in Le Marais, and yet thats not even what the district is best known for today.
What most visitors and locals love about Le Marais is its electric and vibrant nightlife.
While theres still plenty to see and do during the day, including some fantastic cafes and restaurants, Le Marais really comes into its own once the sun goes down.
Nighttime diners have a lot to discover and enjoy, with some of the citys best restaurants to be found here. And if youre in it for the bar and club scene, Le Marais will never disappoint.

This area is packed with restaurants, bars, cafes, and shops, and is ideally situated next to the islands in the Seine.
The Latin Quarter is home to everything from the famous Shakespeare & Company bookshop in Paris to the Pantheon.
Its also home to the Sorbonne University, making it one of the best places to stay in Paris for students and 20-somethings.
My favorite place to stay in the Latin Quarter is the Melia Paris Notre Dame. Its in an elegant 19th-century building in a great location near the river.
