What Are Puerto Rico Travel Restrictions

If you’re traveling to Puerto Rico from the US, you do not need to quarantine or get tested upon your arrival if you’re fully vaccinated. However, all visitors need to fill out a Travel Declaration Form on the Puerto Rico Health Department’s online portal, which produces a QR code required to proceed. Fully vaccinated travelers need to upload a photo of their official Vaccination Card through the online portal.

International and non-vaccinated travelers must upload a negative PCR molecular or antigen COVID-19 test result to the portal. Tests must be taken within 72 hours of arrival. Otherwise, the traveler must take either a PCR molecular or antigen COVID-19 test on the Island, within 48 hours of arrival, or receive a $300 fine. You can get a test at the airport for $110. If the uploaded result is negative, the quarantine is lifted. If the result is positive, the person must isolate and follow the local isolation protocol at his/her own expense.

The Best Places to Visit in Puerto Rico

The main town in Vieques is Isabel Segunda where the ferry stops, and where most of the population lives. Despite this, Esperanza is more popular with travelers. The peaceful location and locally-owned restaurants make the town more attractive for those that want a truly rural experience.

Best Airbnb in Vieques: Casa Corona

Unfortunate name aside, this is easily one of our favorite Airbnbs in Puerto Rico as a whole! This dreamy cottage has its own pool, which you can access via veranda doors from the master bedroom. Its a short walk away from a private stretch of beach, giving you a personal slice of paradise in the middle of the Caribbean.

Best Hostel in Vieques: The Lazy Hostel

Because it has so much going on, Ponce is only moderately affordable. Most of the housing available is only for rent and consists of apartments and condos. The bright side is that all of the buildings boast historic charm and elegance.

Ponce, Puerto Rico, is a safe place to live most of the year. With paved roads and sidewalks as well as 24/7 security in the main plazas, many residents choose to walk the city in the daytime and at night.

    Liveability

Live music, culture exhibitions, and a dazzling art scene make Ponce, Puerto Rico, very liveable and lands it as number 7 on our best places to live in Puerto Rico list. Catch a live local band, check out the art galleries, and peruse the museums on your weekends.

    Walkability

Ponce, Puerto Rico, is rated as highly walkable because of the many bars and restaurants that accompany the galleries and museums. While not as many as in larger metropolitan areas, there are paved sidewalks and pedestrian pathways to get to most places.

    Day : Art And Beaches

It’s time to bid farewell to Old San Juan on Day 3 of your trip. While the old city is beautiful and fun, there’s much more to San Juan than what’s contained behind those fortress walls.

Today, I recommend exploring the Santurce neighborhood east of Old San Juan. This neighborhood is more residential and less touristy, but is still filled with restaurants and cafes plus lots of colorful street art.

I also recommend switching hotels today so you can get a taste of the Condado neighborhood. Grab an Uber or taxi this morning and move your things over to your new hotel if you can’t check into your room yet, leave your luggage while you head out to explore Santurce.

    1. Get your art on

Start off your day in Santurce with a visit to the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico. This art museum showcases and celebrates Puerto Rican and Caribbean art spanning from the 17th century to the present, and is a must-visit for art lovers.

The museum launched a new permanent exhibit in 2019 called Puerto Rico Plural that fills 21 galleries throughout the museum with works by local artists from the past 300 years.

I’m not actually a huge fan of art museums, but the variety of styles represented in this museum held my interest for a couple of hours. We made our way through all the galleries, and also took a walk through the museum’s outdoor sculpture garden.

The best part is that tickets for this museum are just $6 per adult.

    2. Hit the beach

    3. Experience La Placita
