The Difference Between Myrtle Beach And North Myrtle Beach
Myrtle Beach Boardwalk | George Blood via Flickr
Myrtle Beach, often called the Grand Strand, encompasses more than the city of Myrtle Beach itself, extending south into the towns of Surfside Beach, Garden City Beach, and Murrells Inlet.
About 10 miles north of the Grand Strand sits North Myrtle Beach, a separate city. North Myrtle is known for its golf courses, natural beauty, and a more upscale atmosphere.

Best/safe Area To Stay In Myrtle Beach
Could i get some help on where to stay in Myrtle beach area. We are looking to stay a week, beachfront if possible or a very short walking distance to beach. Would like a condo/hotel with kitchen facilities, car parking, swimming pool. As i will be golfing allot we would like a place that is a short walk to shopping malls or at least on a main street with good public transportation, etc for my better half to keep busy shopping while i golf…..and she feels safe and comfortable out alone during the day!
Also any suggestions on golf packages would be a great help.
Thanks in advance
Well, MB is better enjoyed with a car. No major shopping areas are within walking distance and beachfront. Look at these resorts. Breakers, Caribbean, Anderson. You will be within walking a couple places you can eat at, but no major shopping meccas. Public Trans. is hit or miss unless you go the expensive Taxi route. You could look into Uber or Lyft?
But both of these complexes are inland, so if you are staying oceanfront, you will either need to rent a car/cab/or uber to get to them. There are hotels right at Broadway at the Beach, but those won’t be oceanfront. Good luck!

FWIW, some people I know have some family members who golf and some that don’t. They go golfing early morning while the non-golfers go to the beach. They are back with the car before lunchtime and join the non-golfers at the beach.
