Queen Anne: Historic And Cultural

MUST READ: Where to Stay In Seattle

An affluent neighborhood that spreads over two main sections, Queen Anne is a blend of residential and commercial areas. Upper Queen Anne features historic mansions with fantastic views of the city, while Lower Queen Anne slopes down into Seattle Center and some of the citys major attractions, as well as the majority of the accommodation options. Queen Anne offers a slightly more local feel than downtown but still offers proximity to the city center.

Pros and Cons of Staying in Queen Anne

Pros:Its proximity to Seattle Center, home to many of the citys major attractions, is definitely in Queen Annes favor. The homes and views in Queen Anne are undeniably beautiful as well, offering a blend between urban and residential feel.

Cons:Queen Anne is quite spread out so depending on where you are staying and where you want to go, you might be conquering some big hills or having to take transportation. I dont find the restaurant and nightlife scene in Queen Anne as vibrant, nor the energy of the neighborhood as welcoming as other places in Seattle.

Best Area To Stay In Seattle

Going on a trip in late July, taking an Alaskan cruise out of Seattle, but going to spend 2-3 nights in Seattle beforehand. Wondering what would be the best area of the city to get a hotel for a few nights. We have never been before, and also wondering about what are “can’t miss” things to do with a couple of days in Seattle?

The downtown core is the most convenient for accessing many of the ‘must see’ attractions in Seattle. It is also the most expensive due to the popularity of the town in summer bolstered by the Alaskan cruise traffic.

Check the prices and if in your range, definitely stay in town: Westin, Mayflower Park, Fairmont Olympic, Moore

Otherwise the Seattle Center hotels may be a little cheaper. Mediterranean, etc.

Capitol Hill is a near-in neighborhood, but is more rental apartments than hotels, but there are a few.

Nothing will be inexpensive.
