When To Visit Las Vegas
Once again, its important to note the price differences between weeknights and weekends. Going to Vegas from Monday-Wednesday can be a quarter of the price of a Friday-Sunday visit. If at all possible, to get a good deal at the best places to stay in Vegas, its best to visit during the week as far as prices go.
Its also important to check the calendar of events. Las Vegas is a hub for conventions and festivals these days. Rates tend to skyrocket around these as well.
As far as the weather goes, spring and fall are probably the best seasons. Temperatures in the summer can often exceed 100 degrees. In the winter, it might be a bit chilly for you to enjoy that poolside cabana.
Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa
$$ | 4 Star | Water Slide | Water Sport Rentals | Lake Views
If youd rather stay near a lake than in a city setting, this hotel is a great pick for you! Located right on Lake Las Vegas, this property is actually in Henderson, not Vegas. Its around a 30-minute drive to the Strip, but it has several attractions you wont find on the Strip: A water slide, an inflatable water park, and paddleboard rentals! Whats more, the rooms have views of beautiful Lake Las Vegas.
If you plan to hit up the Strip at least once or twice, youll want to have a car. But if you simply want to get away and hang out by a lake in a resort for a couple of days, this is an ideal location for a family vacation or a weekend couples getaway.

Symphony Park The Best Neighbourhood In Las Vegas For Families
Symphony Park is one of the smallest and newest neighbourhoods in Las Vegas. Covering just 61 acres, this North Las Vegas neighbourhood is a mixed-use space that houses shops and businesses as well as residences and massive green space. It is home to the Discovery Childrens Museum, the Smith Center for the Performing Arts, as well as plenty of chic cafes and cosy eateries.
This neighbourhood is ideally located for exploring Las Vegas. Situated one mile north of the Strip, Symphony Park is adjacent to Downtown, making it incredibly easy to experience everything from the Freemont Street Experience to the citys most famous casinos, attractions and entertainment venues. This is why Symphony Park is our recommendation for where to stay for families visiting Las Vegas.
Got $95/70 Try The Tropicana

If youve got a bit more to spend, head to the south end of the Strip to the vintage-style Tropicana*. Its one of the few original 1950s casinos, and although it has been renovated by current owners Hilton, it still has its retro entrance complete with vintage Chevy.
Inside its done up in bright and airy tropical South Beach style, with white walls decorated with greenery and flashes of orange. I stayed in a standard Paradise Tower room, but you can also upgrade to a poolside bungalow. All rooms come with plantation-style shutters and rattan furniture to go with the theme, along with a big flatscreen TV, safe and desk.
The lagoon pool is a good place to relax, with waterfalls and whirlpools and surrounded by palm trees with plenty of loungers and cabanas. Theres a theatre, comedy club and live music venue Food options include a casual beach café, the Bacio Italian restaurant, Robert Irvines Public House and the Red Lotus Asian Kitchen. The resort fee is $37 per night.
For a similar price also try Treasure Island, New York New York and the MGM Grand.

North Las Vegas Good For Outdoor Activities
North Las Vegas may be the best-kept secret in Nevada. In fact, many people dont even realize that its a city entirely distinct from Las Vegas proper.
In fact, its distinct enough from Southern Las Vegas that you could spend weeks enjoying everything the city has to offer without even setting foot in a casino.
If the allure of Las Vegas is all about the wonder of artificial worlds, North Las Vegas offers the opportunity to find the wonder of the real world. Comfortably ensconced in the Las Vegas Valley, its a wonderland of outdoor activities. In fact, the wealth of natural beauty on display here is both staggering and varied.
Spring Mountain is an easy half-hour drive from the city, and it just happens to be the home of the Bristlecone Pine the oldest living organism in the world. Lake Mead is even closer.
The national park can be reached in a matter of minutes, and it constitutes over 500 miles of shoreline. The surrounding beauty of the Las Vegas Valley is front and center even within the city proper.
The Las Vegas Natural History Museum is a celebration not just of the American Southwests natural beauty but of the diverse ecosystems from around the world.
Just keep in mind that getting to the Strip is harder than if you decided to stay in Las Vegas proper, and the city itself is more spread out than the Strip and surrounding areas. That means that you may want to rent a car if you want to explore the casinos of Las Vegas and the valley nearby.

NoMad Las Vegas is a hotel within a hotel specifically, the Park MGM, the completely re-thought former Monte Carlo. But unlike some other hotel-in-hotel pairings in Las Vegas, there’s some synchronicity here, since the Sydell Group had a hand in the redesign of the entire property. But while Park MGM is fun and accessible, NoMad is its totally grown-up side. It’s all old-world luxury here, with sexy dark corners and a grand, library-inspired restaurant. When you walk into NoMad, it’s like wandering into some amazing secret hidey-hole. If you thought you were too sophisticated for Las Vegas, you haven’t been here yet.

Create A Budget For Vegas
Most hotels in Las Vegas have resort fees, which are significantly more expensive than what the actual price of the hotel room appears to be.
The great thing aboutBooking.com is that it will usually tell you the extra fees included in their prices upfront. Hotel rooms and food also tend to be more pricey on the Las Vegas Strip, so creating a budget will help take the stress off your trip!
South End Of The Strip
The south end of the Strip is just west of McCarran International Airport, where most travelers arrive in Vegas. On this end, youll find resorts such as Mandalay Bay, Luxor, and Excalibur.
Prices are lower down here as its a bit of a trek to the center of the Strip and right next to the airport. Its still a popular place to stay as these resorts have everything you need under one roof. Plus, you have very easy access to the airport and can save money and time on cabs.
BudgetFairfield Inn & Suites: While this technically isnt on the Strip, its super close. If youre trying to find a room for less than $200 without resort fees and that has an outdoor pool, this is the spot.
Mid-RangeExcalibur: If youve always wanted to live in a castle, Excalibur is the best hotel to stay at in Vegas. Named for the mythical sword of King Arthur, this whole resort has a cool Medieval theme.
LuxuryMandalay Bay: This is definitely the lap of luxury at the south end of the Strip. You can spend the day lounging on their 11-acre beach, then grab cocktails at the fancy Skyfall Lounge before grabbing a table at one of their excellent restaurants.

Downtown Las Vegas Where To Stay In Las Vegas On A Budget
Downtown Las Vegas or DTLV is the citys central business and historic district. Set a short walk north of the Strip, this ideally located neighbourhood is close to great bars, cool clubs, and a myriad of unique and unforgettable attractions.
One of DTLVs cant miss sights is the Fremont Street Experience . This pedestrian mall spans five blocks in DTLV and glows thanks to its many neon signs and electric decorations. Day or night, make sure you take a stroll through the FSE to marvel at all of the bright and vibrant lights.
DTLV is also where youll find a high concentration of budget hotels and inexpensive accommodation options. Save your hard-earned travel dollars for the casino or the club by staying in DTLV.

West Of The Strip Good For Families
Moving a few blocks west of the Strip is an as disorienting experience as moving a few blocks east.
The bright lights and neon dont go away completely as you venture into the western neighborhoods. After all, both the Palms and the Rio are there.
But even the themed hotels have a hipper and ritzier reputation than many of the lodgings here. More modestly priced hotels are available in abundance, but youll find plenty of higher class places to stay as well.
Regardless of where you stay, you can expect to get plenty more for your dollar than you would on the Strip without having to sacrifice much in the way of accessibility.
The western half of town may not have a university, but its a stretch of land with a higher density of quiet and residential neighborhoods. That environment makes it one of the top neighborhoods in town if youve got kids in tow, but adults will find plenty to love as well.
The aforementioned Rio and Palms are home to the trendy VooDoo Lounge and ghostbar, and most hotels that have a casino on-site will offer places to drink and catch a show as well.
The east may take the crown in terms of museum density, but you should take the time to visit the Nevada State Museum regardless of where you decide to stay in Las Vegas.
Whether youre looking to pick up a souvenir, pick up a shaving kit, or get dressed up for a night out on the town, youll find what you need at the Masquerade Village shopping mall.

Best Places To Stay In Downtown Vegas
While there arent quite as many choices for accommodation here as there are on the Strip, youve still got some solid options downtown. Here are a few to satisfy different budgets:
BudgetEl Cortez Hotel & Casino: If you want a dash of history with your Vegas trip, book a stay at El Cortez. Dating back to 1941, its one of the oldest casino-hotels in the city. Dont worryits had several renovations over the years, most recently in 2018.
Mid-RangeThe D: Formerly called Fitzgeralds, this place underwent a $22 million renovation in 2012 when it transformed into The D. Its definitely one of the most fun places to stay in Vegas, especially when you hang out at the Longbar and watch the flair bartenders at work.
LuxuryCirca Resort: This 35-story hotel and casino is hard to miss as its the tallest building in downtown Las Vegas. Its an adults-only property, which is getting harder to find these days as Vegas promotes a more family-friendly image. Perhaps its coolest feature is Stadium Swima 6-tiered pool with a 40-foot tall HD screen.
