Diamond Head Where To Stay In Oahu If You Are Looking For A Mix Of City And Nature
Diamond Head refers to the area in which the Diamond Head Crater is located, an extinct volcano known by the natives as Leahi. The name Diamond Head was coined by 19th century sailors who mistook the shimmering calcite crystals foryou guessed itdiamonds.
The Diamond Head State Monument is the best spot to see the crater, and historic hiking trails offer particularly stunning views of Waikikis vistas.
While the Diamond Head State Park is the main draw of the area, visitors can also visit the nearby Fort Ruger, Hawaiis first United States military reservation.
The nearest hotels to Diamond Head are generally located along Waikikis beaches and inland around Honolulu, though there are several resort spas in the immediate vicinity.
Bonus: How To Get Around The Hawaii Islands
On islands like those in Hawaii, you have a chance to go and explore volcanoes one day and to deserted beaches or a canyon the next. There is so much to fit into your holiday regardless of where you stay, and thats why figuring out the transportation system is crucial.
Here I will give all the options you can use to get around in each of the Hawaii Islands. I will also mention transportation options between the islands for those of you who cant get enough and want to check out more than one island.
Renting a CarAll the main Hawaii Islands have a large surface area and landmarks are spread around the islands. Thats why I highly recommend you rent a car which will give you more flexibility and freedom. In Hawaii Island, you can easily rent a car from the airports but you will also find rental car offices in major cities.
Take note that especially in high seasons, it might be difficult to find a car. Thats why I highly recommend you to make a booking in advance to be on the safe side. This will also allow you to get better deals. Once you get your car you will be able to discover hidden beaches and secret gems of Hawaii more freely.
Taxis and rideshare appsIt is easy to find a taxi in all the touristy areas simply by calling the cab company and you can also always request a taxi from your hotel too. All taxis have a meter so you dont need to bargain.
There is no public transportation available on Lanai Island.

Best Oahu Resorts For Families
While Oahu is the most crowded of the Hawaiian Islands , its still a big draw for families. There are a TON of beach resorts on Oahu, but some are definitely better for kids than others.
I feel like this post needs a disclaimer up front: pretty much anywhere you go in Hawaii is going to be kid friendly. Hawaii is not a stuffy destination. The most posh and expensive hotels on the island caters to children quite amazingly and unless youre at the adults only pool , youll always find kids boogie boarding in the waves, bobbing around in the pool, and having dinner with their families. That being said, these resorts may appeal to children especially due to their pools or kids clubs, and parents due to their locations and convenience factors.
Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa: No surprise here. Hands down THE BEST PLACE to stay for families in Hawaii. I dont think this recommendation even needs explaining, but if you need convincing you can read my full review here. Pricing starts at $400/night. Click here to check pricing/availability during your stay and read hundreds of reviews.
: Marriott Beach Clubs are geared towards families and this one is no different. Larger room options are available, there are so many pools, youll find every kind of beach and water activity you could dream of, and the protected lagoon is a great beach for young swimmers. Pricing starts at $320/night. Book a room directly with the Marriott here and read hundreds of reviews here.
