In Hawaii Island, you can easily rent a car from the airports but you will also find rental car offices in major cities.
Take note that especially in high seasons, it might be difficult to find a car. Thats why I highly recommend you to make a booking in advance to be on the safe side. This will also allow you to get better deals. Once you get your car you will be able to discover hidden beaches and secret gems of Hawaii more freely.
Taxis and rideshare appsIt is easy to find a taxi in all the touristy areas simply by calling the cab company and you can also always request a taxi from your hotel too. All taxis have a meter so you dont need to bargain.
There is no public transportation available on Lanai Island.

While Oahu is the most crowded of the Hawaiian Islands , its still a big draw for families. There are a TON of beach resorts on Oahu, but some are definitely better for kids than others.
I feel like this post needs a disclaimer up front: pretty much anywhere you go in Hawaii is going to be kid friendly. Hawaii is not a stuffy destination. The most posh and expensive hotels on the island caters to children quite amazingly and unless youre at the adults only pool , youll always find kids boogie boarding in the waves, bobbing around in the pool, and having dinner with their families.
