Where to stay in Positano for the honeymoon? I personally suggest staying on the east side of Positano. Its maybe slightly more expensive but the view you get from the rooms and the balconies is to remember for the life.
Here are two alternatives, starting from the luxury option.

How To Get To Positano
Getting to Positano is not hard when you land at Naples International Airport, the closest airport to the Amalfi Coast.
There are plenty of options to choose from, depending on your budget and preference.
From Naples Airport, there are 61 kilometers by car and a roughly 1-hour drive, depending on traffic.
Starting from the airport, head South, pass through Pompei, Castellmare di Sabbia, Vico Equense, climb the hills and take the winding roads all the way to Positano.

Holidaying in Positano isnt like your typical holiday with all the kids and their grandparents. There are a few things to keep in mind before bringing the whole family.
Positano was built on steep cliffs so there are many steep roads and stairs that are not very stroller-friendly. There are just a couple of main roads for cars and the rest is steep alleyways and a LOT of stairs. Be prepared. It can also get very crowded and hot in the summer, and public transport is unreliable and often overcrowded. Be sure to read our cautionary post on Positano here.
This isnt to say you shouldnt come. There are plenty of activities to keep the whole family happy. From boat rides to beach days and, of course, all the gelato! Weve picked a few places within Positano that are family friendly, but suggest staying in Amalfi and taking day trips over to Positano if you have younger children.

Tips For Staying In Positano
The Amalfi Coast is a luxury destination and youll see accommodation prices reflect that when you begin your search for where to stay in Positano. The price of a mid-range hotel in Positano would easily be in the luxury category in most other cities in Italy. As a general note, hotels will be less expensive as they get further away from the main beach and town center .
Parking is typically not included and usually costs around 20 euro per night at a nearby garage. While there are certainly deals to be found, expect to spend around 200 euros a night in Positano for accommodation with breakfast included.
Very Touristy And Expensive
Very touristy, and expensive . There are a few hidden gems there for sure .This is one of those places that might be better on a postcard. We enjoyed our three days but knowing what I know now we probably would have selected a different destination. We got there by taxi from Naples airport and in case it helps anyone – the guides offering you a ride when you walk out of the airport ended up being much cheaper than a metered taxi – we took a metered taxi by mistake and it was pricey.

Pros And Cons Of Staying In Amalfi
- Pros: its a small town with more of a local feel. Its less touristy. And, the Cathedral is gorgeous. Its convenient for boats and buses. There are lots of hiking trails in the area. It has a pretty beach. There are lots of excellent restaurants. There are lots of great hotels both high-end wow hotels and also a good variety of B& Bs that are good value for money. Its just down the hill from Ravello. And finally, its on a quieter end of the coast compared to Positano.
- Cons: Its further down the coast, so 45 minutes from Positano and an hour from Pompeii.

What To Pack For Positano
Having the right travel gear is incredibly important for any trip, especially if you are visiting Europe from a different continent. Save yourself time and money by getting all of the necessary items prior to arriving at your destination. Some of the items I consider non-negotiable:
COMFORTABLE SHOES I consider proper walking shoes to be the most important packing item for Europe. The last thing you want is to be mid-trip, with torn up feet, and out of options. Trust me, Ive been there. My shoe recommendation is not the least expensive option on the market, but its definitely the best. You can wear them all day everyday for weeks straight and not once will your feet hurt. They are the only shoes I have ever found that are this way . Just imagine being on your once in a lifetime trip, able to run around from sun up to sun down without a worry. That alone makes them worth every penny! I also love them because of their versatility. You can wear them with anything jeans, leggings, skirts, dresses, anything! If theyre in stock in your size, get them while you still can. .
