    Hello Hardeep,

Ironically, we will be leaving Norway just a day before you arrive. We will be much further north than you, however, in Tromso.

First of all, may I say how jealous I am that you are going to the Juvet. It is so beautiful there. Im not sure if this will work, but I have tried to create a Google Map of our drive . We drove in the order of the video: Alesund Trollstigen Juvet Geirangerfjord Alesund . In that order, we drove UP the Trollstigen road. There is a lookout at the top which is quite spectacular. The Juvet is in the middle portion of the route. The drive from Alesund Trollstigen Juvet takes about 2.5 hours . The drive from the Juvet Geirangerfjord Alesund is almost 4 hours, but you would need to add time for stopping to admire the fjord and there is also a short ferry at one spot . I totally think you could do this loop in either direction , depending on which day is best for the longer drive. I would, however, make sure you enjoy every minute of your time at the Juvet. We did not get to Oye, but it seems perhaps a bit ambitious for your time limitsalthough Im not one to saywe really like to push the limits.

  • See Lesund From Above

If you only do one thing in Ålesund, go up to the Aksla Viewpoint. You can reach this on foot by going up 418 steps, by taking the tourist train that toodles around town, by getting a taxi, or by using the hop-on, hop-off bus.

The views from the lookout are outstanding. It was drizzling slightly when I was up there, but the sun was out meaning a rainbow soon appeared over the colorful city center below. Perfection.

If you have time, there’s a nice cafe up here where you can grab a coffee while you enjoy the view.

And, no matter how you get up there, I highly recommend walking the 418 steps back down into Town Park for even more views!

Watch The Boats Come And Go At Lesund Harbor

A quick trip in Ålesund center.

Ålesund’s harbor lies between the islands of Nørvøy and Aspøy, and is sheltered by the Skansen peninsula. As wonderful as it is wandering around and admiring the architecture-the picturesque harbor includes many older buildings once used by fishermen-you’ll be tempted to sit awhile and simply watch the boat traffic come and go in this busy port area.

Not only is the harbor home to one of Europe’s largest fishing fleets, it’s also a stop on the Hurtigruten route, the fast coastal service connecting all of Norway. It has also become a popular destination for cruise ships.

ALESUND – NORWAY IN 4K = ÅLESUND | TRAVEL VLOG

The Atlantic Sea-Park in Ålesund, is a great place to learn about Norway’s diverse marine life. One of the largest saltwater aquariums in northern Europe, this fun family attraction is just a short shuttle bus ride form the town center and provides a fascinating look at life under the sea.

Established in 1951 and built into the coastline, this spectacular family attraction is crisscrossed with numerous scenic walking trails allowing many great vistas of its fishy inhabitants. All told, the facility’s exhibition area includes 11 large aquariums, as well as open touch pools and activity pools. If you can, try to time your visit to catch the daily fish feeding in the million-gallon Great Atlantic tank.

If you’re traveling with kids, get in on the fun with the public fish feeding experience held each weekend. Another highlight is the four-million-gallon seal tank, Selbukta, the largest of its kind in the world. There’s also a gift shop and café located on-site.

    Hiking In And Around Lesund

Another must-do is to climb the steps up Mount Aksla, the town’s very own mountain that offers a terrific view from its summit. So much so, that I’m sure it’s the most photographed part of the city:

There’s more than 400 steps though, so only consider this if you have a reasonable level of fitness. The steps have been improved lately so as long as you’re fit enough, there are no safety worries!

Once you reach the top, you can refuel with an ice cream at the cafe. I’ve also eaten at the restaurant that offers great local food and of course, a wonderful view of the city and the surrounding islands.

Don’t fancy the walk? Alternatively, you can drive up through the town’s suburbs. Parking can be an issue at peak times when you’re doing battle with tour buses from the cruise ships.

Many other hiking options area available on the nearby Giske archipelago. A 3km-long culture trail’ on Valderøy island is a popular choice. Climbing Storhornet on Godøya island is one for the keen hiker who wants a view as a reward.
