Alpe Di Siusi Best Place To Stay In The Dolomites For Dreamy Views
Alpe di Siusi, otherwise known as Seiser Alm, is located in the Trentino-Alto Adige region, about 30 km away from Bolzano.
It is the largest high-altitude Alpine meadow in Europe and offers an incredible view of the surrounding mountain ranges, namely Langkofel, Puez-Odle, Sella group, Kesselkogel, and Pala group.
Reaching Alpe di Siusi is a little bit complicated as its an entire car-free area and you can only drive there directly during the day if you have a hotel reservation .
Otherwise, you can drive up to Compatsch before 9 am or after 5 pm from where it takes around an hour to reach the most picturesque part of Alpe di Siusi or you can take a cable car from either Ortisei or Siusi during the day.
So if you dont want to miss out on the most beautiful sunsets in the Dolomites, its best to book a hotel at Alpe di Siusi at least for a night. Where Is The Upper Puster Valley
Puster Valley is a long valley in the Alps, stretching from Bressanone/Brixen in Italy all the way to Lienz in Austria.
The Upper Puster Valley refers to the easternmost part of the valley, and encompasses the villages of Villabassa/Niederdorf, Dobbiaco/Toblach, San Candido/Innichen, Braies/Prags, and Sesto/Sexten in South Tyrol.
This region is also known as the Three Peaks holiday region.
How To Get To Corvara In Alta Badia
The short and easy drive from Florence to the Dolomites in general makes me wonder why we would ever holiday outside of Italy! While the area close to Brixen/ Bressanone is close to the highway and short enough a drive for a long weekend from Florence, Alta Badia is accessed by one of two mountain roads that are best taken for a week long trip.
If you are driving here arriving from the south, take highway A1 towards Bologna, then take A22 after Modena towards the Brennero Pass. Exit at Chiusa and follow for Ortisei / Selva di Val Gardena, them Corvara. This road goes over a curvy mountain pass but we think it is fastest. On the way home we tried the other approach via Bressanone, Brixen and Brunigo, which has more tunnels, but also a lot of traffic.
If you are arriving in Italy by air, you will probably need to take the trainfor a bit until Bolzano. From there I would recommend getting a car rental, because you will need that liberty to move around once you arrive.
It is possible to take a bus to this area, for example, with the integrated public transport system the bus from Bolzano to Corvara takes about 2.5 hours and costs 17,50 euro. Once you are in Corvara you can go anywhere in town by skibus or foot, but your evening activities would be limited to that town since the bus between towns does not run late. I hear there are at least two nightclubs in town if you are into that kind of thing. I would not know we chose to ride early and enjoy evenings in together!

Alta Badia is extremely proud of its gastronomic scene with four Michelin-stars within a 15 km area three stars for Norbert Niederkofler from the St. Hubertus restaurant at Hotel Rosa Alpina in San Cassiano and one star for Nicola Laera from the La Stüa de Michil restaurant in Hotel La Perla, Corvara. However, there are also some superb restaurants serving delicious local Ladin cuisine. I Tabla is just one example serving hearty plates of homemade dumplings, barley soup and polenta with sausage, this is Ladin cuisine at its best. At Piz Boe Alpine Lounge, you have a choice between a formal à la carte menu served in an elegant dining room, or a choice of traditional flavours such as polenta, pasta or gnocchi in a self-service area. Another favourite for local dishes is Maso Runch in the rustic village of Badia. For impressive views try Utia Las Vegas and for the best pizza, Fornella in Corvara is a must.

Peak seasons can see visitor numbers to the region swell dramatically, and accommodation can often be booked up weeks in advance. This is particularly true for the mountain rifugios, which can only be booked direct and in advance.

Sass De Putia Circuit Trail

Sass de Putia/Peitlerkofel is a solitary two-headed mountain in Puez-Odle Nature Park.
A highly enjoyable hiking path circuits Sass de Putia, weaving through forest and across alpine pastures.
The trail starts at the Passo delle Erbe mountain pass, high above Val Badia. From the pass, follow the road towards Sass de Putia. When you reach the alpine pastures at the base of the mountains northern slopes , turn right and follow signs to the Forcela de Pütia/Peitlerscharte mountain saddle.
The ascent to Forcela de Pütia saddle is the hardest part of the hike. Its straightforward, but continuously uphill.
From here, the trail descends across romantic alpine pastures and continues to Ütia Vaciara and Ütia de Göma, two alpine pasture huts directly on the trail.
Insider Tip: You can stay directly at Passo delle Erbe at at Ütia de Börz, an upscale mountain refuge.

Val Di Funes Best Place To Stay In The Dolomites For Romantic Getaways
The valley of Val di Funes is nestled between Val Gardena to the south and Alta Pusteria to the north. The region extends to the Odle mountain range that turns into a hue of pink and orange depending on the time of the day.
If youre thinking about where to stay in the Dolomites for photography, look no further as the valley is beyond beautiful! It is one of the most scenic spots in northern Italy. The severe contrast against the jagged peaks of Odle and the rolling green pastures is striking.
