Where To Stay In Antibes France

Where To Stay In Antibes Antibes Or St Tropez

Antibes France Travel Guide

Hi Everyone!

We’re a fairly fit couple over 60 and will be ending an 8-day biking tour in St. Remy in Provence in mid June. We want to rent a car there. Then we’ll be looking for a b& b or boutiue-y type hotel in probably in Antibes within walking distance of a nice sandy beach, where we can rest a bit for four days before heading back to the States. Rick Steves talked about the best beach being between the port and Cap Antibes, but we don’t know where that is! We don’t know which port he means….Ideally we’d like to find a place in the Old Town. We’ve never been to France before.

Also, would it make sense to pick Anitbes over St. Tropez? We don’t like a lot of tour buses, etc….

If anyone has any suggestions, I’d appreciate it!

~Susan

Perched on a hilltop and surrounded by fields of flowers, this lovely town is just 20 kilometers away from Antibes. This characteristic Provençal town is a delightful day-trip destination with many cultural attractions.

Cap Dantibes Beach Hotel

Contents

Cap dAntibes Beach Hotel is situated near Port of Olivette and Plage des Ondes on the tip of Cap dAntibes. It is a beloved and coveted spot to land. As its name suggests it is also one of the few French Riviera hotels with a private on-property sandy beach.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the property was referred to as La Maison des Pêcheurs, when large properties such as these stretched down to the sea and only a small unassuming path led curious wanderers to Cap dAntibes.

A Baron owned the cape in those days. Today, local fishermen tell stories of how the Baron allowed fishermen to stay on the property in exchange for bouillabaisse, a local fish stew.

In 2003, the Ferrante family acquired the property. They have invested 3.5 million euros in renovations to bring the property back to life with the hope of welcoming international clientele looking for a luxurious spot to be on the coast in France.

In April of 2016, the property was redecorated with the addition of eight new rooms and suites. The single Michelin star restaurant that pays homage to the history and origin of the property named Les Pêcheurs was also given a new position, facing the sea.

There are so many things to love about this property. There is a seamless marriage of land and sea that is carried throughout the modern lines of the hotel through the skillful use of both wood and glass materials.

Stay In Nice Or Antibes

We are rescheduling an Anniversary trip to French Riviera June 2022. We have our accommodations in a home in Eygalières, Provence for a week to make day trips around Provence by car. Many sights and towns recommended by RS. My question is:: where to have 4-5 day stay: Nice or Antibes or somewhere we can take short trips . This is rescheduled from June2021 which we had planned fly into Nice, 4-5days without car in city. We had apartment in Old Town Nice that is not available to rebook. So the search is on for other apartment for my husband, 16 yr.old daughter and I. Wanted to stroll City streets, easy access to transportation for trips to VilleFranche,Cap Ferrat, maybe Cannes and Monaco. Any suggestions you have are appreciated. Thank you!-Lynn

Your train trips to Villefranche, Cap Ferrat and Monaco will be 14 – 26 minutes longer each way if you base in Antibes rather than Nice. On the other hand, you’ll gain that same 14-26 minutes on your day-trip to Cannes.

Unless you put a high value on staying in a smaller place, I’d choose Nice. It’s the transportation hub for the area with buses to places like St-Paul-de-Vence. To get to SPdV from Antibes you’d have to take a train to Nice and then connect to the bus.

In addition, Nice has enough sights that you might well need to make two trips there if you were staying in Antibes. You probably won’t do more than one day’s sightseeing in Antibes.

You’ll have a fine time either way.

Walk The Le Sentier Du Littoral Cap D’antibes

Take a stroll at the Le Sentier du Littoral, a picturesque waterfront path that you cannot miss when visiting Antibes. You will find little spots where you can wet your feet, swim, or snorkel along the trail. Le Sentier du Littoral trail is less than 2 miles and goes from Le Sentier du Littoral and ends in Plage de la Garoupe. I have marked it on for you.

Tip:

  • In the summer it can get crowded and hot, so go early in the morning or late in the afternoon.

  • If you are driving – like I did, there’s a parking lot near Plage de la Garoupe, Parking Plage de la Garoupe.

  • It’s a little rocky, so wear appropriate shoes. And don’t forget to bring water, a hat, and wear sunscreen.
