In this post, Ive highlighted the five best neighborhoods in Austin. If youre still not sure where to say, heres a quick recap.

HK Austin is my pick for where to stay for cost-conscious travellers and budget backpackers. Not only does it have a great central location, but it is comfortable and has awesome features and amenities.

Another great option is the Guild Lamar Union. Sleek, stylish and ultra modern, this property is located between Zilker and Downtown and is close to restaurants, bars and shops.

Kids Friendly Hotels In Austin

Recently, Austin topped the list of the best cities for families released by travel site WalletHub. And with its 300 days of sunshine a year, ample kid-friendly attractions and an emerging food and nightlife scene, it’s easy to see why.

If you’re looking to visit Austin with your family, choosing a kid-friendly hotel is a must. To help, WalletHub compared the 100 largest U.S. cities based on 26 key indicators of family-friendliness. They ranged from the cost of housing and babysitting services to the number of playgrounds and arcades per capita.

The results? Austin came in at number 5 overall, but first place for affordable family fun.

So what makes Austin so family-friendly? One reason is the city’s abundance of kid-centric attractions. The Texas State Capitol building is a great place to start for history buffs, while the Austin Zoo and Animal Sanctuary is perfect for animal lovers. Kids can also explore the natural wonders of the Texas Hill Country at Enchanted Rock State Park, and learn about science and space at the Austin Science and Nature Center.

Rainey Street Historic District Bars Clubs And Event Venues

If you want to see what East Austin will probably look like in a few years, be sure to check out the Rainey Street District. What was once a neighborhood filled with bungalows built in the 1930s is now bursting at the seams withbars, clubs, and event venues.

Fortunately, most of the renovations havent been performed with an overabundance of bulldozers. Many of these spaces still retain the architecture and personality of when they were built, and the results are some of the most homey and distinct hangout spots in Austin.

The crowds tend to be fairly young professionals of a bent slightly less weird than many of Austins other neighborhoods.

But as is often the case with Austin neighborhoods, Raineys store is one of progress. While many of the historic buildings remain, theyre abutted by some glistening modern highrises that dilute the historic appeal of the neighborhood.

This is just another effect of downtowns proximity, but its not necessarily a bad thing. The citys creep into quieter neighborhoods also means better access to just about everything, and Rainey Street continues to be a distinct enclave of traditional design among a city increasingly composed of steel and concrete.

Even if you arent going to stay in Austin in Rainey, you should take the time to walk its streets. Dazzling murals line many of the walls even as more generic landmarks come to dominate the landscape.

Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Austin Downtown
