El Born Neghborhood Where To Stay In Barcelona For Nightlife

El Born was previously one of the most dangerous and seedy parts of the city. Over the last 30 years, following the 1992 Olympic Games, it has shed its dangerous character and has transformed into one of the liveliest areas of the city that breathes excitement both day and night.

Packed with restaurants, bars, clubs and cafes, El Born is the pick for the best area to stay in Barcelona for nightlife. From sipping vermouth to partying until dawn, theres lots of fun to be had on the streets of El Born.

Where To Stay With Friends: El Raval

For a group of friends who have probed the planet together, an upbeat, exciting neighborhood to crash in is a top priority. After all, once youve traveled enough, you know how to look for the right vibe for your tribe.

One area to consider in Barcelona is El Raval. Its similar to Gràcia, but is more appropriate for friends than families. Here, youll find artists performing on the streets a foray of small, genuine restaurants with local flavors and several art museums, including the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art. Since this museum is a popular spot for tourists and natives alike, be mindful of your belongings as you snap Instagram photos.

La Barceloneta Beach Tapas And Nightlife

The seaside neighborhood of La Barceloneta is where locals go to sunbathe and dine on fresh seafood tapas after a day of swimming and surfing.

The waterfront hotels make for a scenic stay in Barcelona, with the palm-lined promenade leading to the beach providing some of the citys most photo-worthy views, especially along the route to Montjuïc hill.

With its multitude of beach clubs, La Barceloneta is the perfect destination for beachgoers, who in turn can choose from the areas four main beaches: the hyper-modern Sant Sebastià, where Barcelonas W Hotel is located, sporty Barceloneta beach, and the quieter Sant Miguel and Somorrostro beaches.

As with most seaside destinations, off-season periods are the best time to find significant deals on luxury hotels, with fewer overall beach traffic to contend with.

Grand Hotel Central Barcelona

Where to stay in Barcelona

To me, deciding where to stay in Barcelona is basically just deciding who has the best rooftop. If youre the same way, book the Grand Hotel Central. Its located on the famous Via Laietana, right at the doorstep of Barcelonas old town, making it one of the most iconic buildings in the area. Its a 15-minute walk from the beach with gorgeous views of the Gothic Quarter and the Barcelona Cathedral in every direction. And the rooftop is to die for.

Best Area To Stay In Barcelona For Nightlife: The Famous La Rambla

La Rambla isnt so much a location as it is a street in the heart of Barcelona. It has a very popular nightlife and is great for couples or singles, but it isnt a very family-friendly location. It also isnt the safest place to stay.

It is better to pick a hotel a little way off of La Rambla and walk or take transportation there if you wish to get your party on while in Barcelona. It is the street that never sleeps.

Beware of pickpockets and drug dealers while here. I actually wouldnt advise to get an actual hotel on this street, even though this is the best area to stay in Barcelona for nightlife. Instead, lets look at a few hotels just to the right of the street that will give you a much better experience.

Pars Tailors Hostel More Hipster Party

Americans Visit Barcelona SPAIN for the First Time!

Pars Tailors Hostel has a central location, and they do run Pub Crawls.

The people staying here are usually younger from 18 up to 28, roughly.

The design is very hipster-ish, and they even have their own Paella Nights. Some nights of the week the whole hostel also moves to Plaza Espanya for the Magic Fountain Show.

I also love the location here.

You are staying in the Hipster area of Sant Antoni, with plenty of cool bars, restaurants and cafés. Another advantage? You can take the Airport Shuttle bus from here directly, the bus stop is just 20 meters from here.

Where To Stay For Nightlife: El Born

If youre accustomed to leaving a bar at midnight to get in a full eight hours of sleep, consider yourself warned. Like many Spanish-speaking countries, in Barcelona the party doesnt really get started until after 12 a.m., with typical dinner seatings starting as late as 10 p.m. While you might need a nap to prepare you for the long night ahead, save yourself the commute and stay in El Born, the center of the citys nightlife.

Historically, El Born was a place for medieval jousts, and today, it carries the same attitude. In the daytime it offers countless art shops and cafes as well as the Picasso Museum and at night the cobblestone streets come alive with countless clubs, bars, and discos.

Why Stay In Poblenou

Poblenou used to be Barcelonas industrial area and there are still disused and old factories in the area which only adds to the overall artsy vibe. The citys hipster area, Poblenou has a lot to offer while still being a very traditional low-key part of the city. Its still relatively off the tourist track and provides a charming place to stay with a lot to do in the area. Poblenou is famous for street parties which it throws often but for two weeks in September, you can attend the Festa Mejor del Poblenou which is a real celebration of culture including live performances, food, and music. The famous design museum La Plataforma is based here as well as other art galleries and performance spaces. The neighbourhood is well known for being a hub for local artists, enhanced by the abundance of street art in the area which you can find at every turn. Its also a coffee hot spot with hip cafes and baristas who really know their stuff. Suited to mid-range and budget travellers who love alternative, laid-back vibes.

Where To Stay In Sant Pere And La Ribera

The two easternmost old-town neighbourhoods of Sant Pere and La Ribera are both medieval in origin. They are often thought of as one district, but each has a distinct character. Sant Pere, perhaps the least visited part of the old town, has two remarkable buildings: the Palau de la Música Catalana and the Mercat Santa Caterina. By way of contrast, the old artisans quarter of La Ribera has always been a big draw. Here you can visit the graceful church of Santa María del Mar and the Museu Picasso. Both have a number of safely sited budget, mid-range and boutique accommodation options all are well located and handy for the Born nightlife area.

Best for budget cool: Chic & Basic BornFrom the open-plan, all-in-white decor, everything here is full-on boutique and in-your-face. Chic, certainly basic, not at all.
