It is beautiful, like walking through a painting, with snow on the roof tops and dusting every branch of the pine trees. We had a spectacular time. The futuristic hybrid between a plane and hotel which has 20 engines powered by nuclear fusion is designed never to land.
Hashem Alghaili, who created the incredibly detailed mockup of the monster aircraft, says the nuclear-powered sky cruise could be the future of transport.
Designed to run 24/7, Alghaili even adds that running repairs would be carried out in-flight a first in aviation.
And, when asked how many people it would take to fly this gigantic plane, he said: All this technology and you still want pilots?
I believe it will be fully autonomous.
Despite plans for a man-less ride, the Sky Cruise will still require plenty of staff on board to be at every passengers beck and call.
The greatly detailed video also promises restaurants, a gigantic shopping mall, a gym, theatre and even a swimming pool all in the sky.

Great Hikes Around Big Sky
We have to start with great hikes in Big Sky because theres no better way to get immersed into vacation than to get into the woods .
Hiking at Ousel Falls, Big Sky
Located just outside the Meadow Village area of Big Sky, Ousel Falls Park is where youll find the trail head to this great 1.6 mile round trip hike. With both moderately sloped and flat areas of the trail, its doable for nearly any level of fitness. There are for sure moments along the trail that are more steep, but theyre few and far between.Great sights along the Ousel Falls trail include walking along the Gallatin River, sheer cliffs and rock formations towering above, deep green pools where the river calms, and a variety of cascades. The ultimate view is Ousel Falls itself. Viewpoints above and at the splash pool make it gorgeous from every angle. Super beautiful, and one of the best things to do in Big Sky, Montana.
Tip: there are picnic tables in several places along the Ousel Falls trail. I think this might be the best spot to enjoy a lunch in the woods in all of the Big Sky area.
Hiking the Bacon Rind, Yellowstone National Park
Tip: if youre hiking the Bacon Rind in the morning or at dusk, be sure youre carrying bear spray and that you know how to use it. There are three main places to stay in Big Sky Mountain Village, Moonlight Basin, and Meadow Village. First Things First: Skiing In Big Sky Country
While its not the largest on the continent , Big Sky Resort comes second with 5,850 skiable acres. Of that, 2,300 acres accounts for Big Skys combined beginner and intermediate terrain, which is larger than many ski resorts total acreage.
Lets not forget the remaining 3,550 acres of expert terrain, 300 named runs off Lone Mountain, and 400-plus inches of average annual snowfall. Everything is big time. Imagine zooming down wide-open runs across an endless variety of terrainthink trees, steeps, groomers, whoopdeedoos, you name itall of which you typically have to yourself. For many skiers, this kind of crowd-free skiing is everything.
Enhancements to the ski experience are part of Big Skys 2025 capital plan and include a new lift system. Give it a whirl on the new Ramcharger 8, the first eight-seat chairlift of its kind in North America. Next season, the forthcoming Swift Current 6 promises to be the fastest six-person chairlift on the continent.
Getting There And Around
The closest airport to Big Sky is Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport, which is about one hours drive from the resort. There are daily direct flights to major cities by different airlines. There are also several different companies providing airport shuttles as well as plenty of rental car options.
The Mountain Village Base area is pedestrian friendly and easy to get around. While the best way to get around the rest of the resort is by private car, there is a shuttle service that circulates the Meadow, Mountain and Canyon areas approximately every 30 minutes.

Our familys love of skiing began a few years back when we took Ryder and Siella on their first trip down the slopes. Jason and I were amazed at how well they had done, and now three years later, they literally blow me away when I watch them cruise down the mountain. There are so many mountains to visits, but Big Sky Montana has been at the top our list for quite sometime so when I received the invite from Momtrends to attend a trip to Montana, I jumped at the offer. It was a solo trip, sans Jason and the kids, but I figured it would be a good opportunity to work my ski skills, since Ryder and Siella are pretty much better than me on the slopes. Well, at least thats how I sold it, when they found out they werent invited. And seriously, this mama needed a solo trip, more than you know!
I was so excited on the day of the trip. Our flight connected through Minnesota, but nonstop flights are available if you fly out of Newark. The Big Sky Resort was only an hour from the airport. My condo style unit was complete with a kitchen and separate bedroom, and it was located right on the mountain called Village Center. We wasted no time getting fit for our skis, in preparation for the following day.

Fantastic place, lots of really nice people work there. We took the tram to the top of Lone Peak early in the morning. Then we did the Adventure Zip Line Tour. We highly recommend both! Both my husband and I were very impressed with everything from the natural beauty, activities available, and any staff . We want to go back there to sky in the future.

Filling your days with only skiing while in Big Sky is almost criminal given the huge breadth of outdoor activities on offer. At the resort, snowshoe up secluded Mouse Tracks Gully or zip line over the trees. Just around the bend, join former Iditarod racing huskies for dog sledding through Moonlight Basin. At Lone Mountain Ranch, which sits on its own mountainside wilderness, pop into Nordic skis to explore 85 kilometers of groomed trails and snowshoe to a river to fly fish for trout.
