Staying In Bryce Canyon National Park
Sometimes you just want to stay in the park to be in nature and closer to the trailheads. Good news! Bryce has a park lodge and two campgrounds.
However, none of these properties have all the amenities we would expect them to have. This surprised us as much as anyone when we were researching before our trip.
We dont actually recommend staying in the park unless you like a rustic and/or unplugged adventure. Keep reading for more details on why that is.

Kanab Where To Stay In Zion National Park On A Budget

This small town is located in Utahs Canyon Country region and is famous for its stark setting that was used as a backdrop to many 20th century Hollywood westerns. Wander through Kanab and be transported back in time thanks to the historic houses and heritage buildings that line the lanes.
Kanab is also where youll find a good concentration of in-expensive accommodation options. This makes it our top recommendation for anyone backpacking the USA on a budget.
Set within driving distance of Zion National Park, Kanab is also an ideal base for people looking to explore a little further. Both the north rim of the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas can be easily reached by car from this small Utah town.

Where To Stay: Towns Between Zion And Bryce
Towns are few and far between in the area between Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks. Dont let Google maps fool you! Most are nothing more than a few buildings and houses with one restaurant, if youre lucky.
There are also many campgrounds, RV parks, and one-off places to stay along US 89 that are not necessarily in a town per se.
The best way to discover these is to use a website like Booking.com and search by area.
Read reviews and make your own educated decision. We are hotel travelers through and through, so we have no experience with and cant recommend any particular one-off spots like this.
If youre like us and looking for a quality hotel where you know what to expect, all of the following towns are worth looking into for a stay between Zion and Bryce Canyon.

When To Visit Bryce Canyon

Unlike some national parks, winter snow doesnt shut down Bryce. In fact, there are lots of visitors that prefer to visit Bryce Canyon National Park in the winter.
The contrast between the orangey-red hoodoos and the white snow that blankets them is a sight to behold.
Bryce Canyon National Park gets the most snow out of the Mighty 5 Utah parks, sitting more than 8,000 feet above sea level. Even in the summer, the high elevation makes the park chilly in the mornings.
If youre looking to hike in Bryce Canyon, I recommend visiting in the late spring or early fall. Visiting in the shoulder months avoids the peak summer crowds.
If you want to photograph snowcovered hoodoos or snowshoe along the rim, I recommend visiting between December and February.
