Free Time In Puerto Escondido
The small city of Puerto Escondido is situated about 200 miles south of Acapulco and aptly named Hidden Port.
For younger surfers looking to hit the giant waves that the Pacific Coast enjoys in abundance, there are two international surfing competitions held at the Zicotela beach, every August and November.
Be sure to visit San Agustinillo, an hours drive away, where there is a local surf school, as well as a vast offer of activities such as boat rides to admire the local biodiversity and rafting excursions along the rivers of the region.
Horse rides to the local town of Manialtepec with its thermal waters are fun, and a night tour of the Manialtepec Lagoon with bioluminescent creatures lighting your every move is spectacular.

Yes, this is actually something Im going to teach you about right now. When you land in Cabo, in Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, anywhere, there are timeshare sales people everywhere. You might not even realize it, but youre going to come in contact with somebody in your first hour in Mexico trying to sell you a timeshare.

As you go through customs and exit, youll see people with clipboards and behind desks. Check out our article about effectively navigating timeshare sales pitches for more information, but know that you can just breeze by this crowd if you want to. Walk directly through the sales people to either your rental car agency desk if youve already arranged one, or out to the curb to grab a taxi or shuttle.
The Buccaneer Queen Pirate Adventure
My three-year-old is all about the pirates , so I knew I could not miss out on a chance to take her on a real pirate ship. The Buccaneer Queen is one of two pirate ships in the Cabo San Lucas marina and this is the more family-friendly of the two.
In booking a pirate adventure, there are a few options to choose from, including a breakfast snorkeling trip or a sunset dinner cruise. Since my littles are too young for snorkeling, we chose the latter. Even though this cruise was for my daughter, I was surprised to have a great time. The crew does an excellent job of catering to both kids and adults and the sunset views around Lands End and the famous El Arco are to die for. Dinner and drinks are included but keep in mind it is difficult to eat on a swaying ship. The food was nothing to write home about, but it wasnt the reason we booked. At the end of the two-hour cruise, the crew puts on a great show and dance.
Tip: While this cruise is family friendly, there is an open bar and drinks are given out freely. This may be a problem for some families and if it is for you, there are other sunset cruises available to consider.

We loved this experience with Cabo Adventures. A high speed boat ride to Los Arcos, followed by snorkeling with a high speed water scooter, then paddle boarding. A little bit of everything and kids only have to be 5 for this experience. They even have a professional photographer along for the ride to take pictures of your family in and out of the water.

Playa Grande Resort And Spa
One of our favorite all-inclusive resorts for families is Playa Grande Resort and Spa. This beautiful 3-star resort is minutes from downtown Cabo and directly on the coast. When you and your family stay here, youll have access to a private beach which means you dont need to worry about finding a place to plant yourselves on a crowded public beach.
We love that this resort offers multiple pools for you and your family to use if you dont want to venture onto their private beach. Many of these pools offer a swim-up bar perfect for the adults while the kids frolic through the water.
Besides the daily meals provided in your booking cost, several restaurants on the property have kid-friendly options. There is even a poolside restaurant when you dont want to lose your spot by the pool.

Cabo San Lucas is the larger, more touristy of the two towns, while San Jose del Cabo is more quiet and charming. Spend a day exploring one or both of them, go shopping, talk with the locals, and learn about life in Cabo.

This is a huge resort with tons of rooms, which means the pools are larger, the restaurants are larger, everything here happens on a larger scale.

What I think is one of the best things about this resort is the incredible saltwater lagoon that has a waterslide and a rope swing. If it is still not clear what it means you can plunge right into the lagoon after swaying on the swing.
There is also a kids club which, wait for it, has a wooden ship. Imagine how excited the kids are going to be about playing on that ship. To be honest, even I feel mildly psyched at the thought of it.
