Getting Around During 3 Days In Chicago
Getting around for 3 days in Chicago is in most ways easy, but can sometimes be challenging.
The public transport system is the easiest and most inexpensive way to get around, followed by cabs/Uber/Lyft, and finally driving yourself.
Much of the 3 days in Chicago itinerary laid out above, however, can all be completed by exploring on foot, especially from the recommended hotels. The awesome destinations and great parks are relatively close together and can be reached with a nice walk in the Chicago air.
Chicago has one of the best public transport systems in the US. The elevated train, AKA the L, brings people across Chicago east, west, north, and south. The L stops at all of the amazing sites in the city, as well as OHare Airport, Midway Airport, and all the major thoroughfares.
If you would rather avoid public transportation, then the best way to travel around during this 3 day Chicago itinerary is with a cab/Uber/Lyft. Traveling this way is likely the fastest if you can avoid rush hour, and the most convenient. However, it will be more expensive than using the L trains.
Finally, you, of course, have the option of driving yourself around town. In our opinion, this is the most stressful way to get around, as youll have to worry about parking in the busy downtown streets. This is a challenge and is made worse considering that many hotels offer parking fees.
Head To Wrigley Field & Wrigleyville
You cant visit the North Side of Chicago and not see Wrigley Field. As one of the most famous baseball stadiums in existence, and the home of the Chicago Cubs, this is a must-see stadium, especially for sports fans.
Wrigley Field is located right in the heart of Wrigleyville on the North Side. Surrounded by residential areas and a huge bar and restaurant scene, this area is a magnet for good times, especially when the hometown Cubs are lacing up their cleats for a game.
If you are fortunate enough to be in Chicago while the Cubs are playing, head to Wrigley just for the experience of people watching and cheering on the hometown team. If youd like, you could even try and buy some tickets, and usually, you can get a good deal on seats if you are okay purchasing them after the game is already in the 2nd or 3rd inning.
Wrigleyville, the neighborhood surrounding Wrigley Field, is an excellent place to hang out, have a drink, and hop around a few of the local establishments. Each of them has a great atmosphere, delicious, food, and of course a wide array of beers on tap.
The Best Areas To Stay In Chicago
One of the great American cities, Chicago is known for jazz music, Prohibition-era gangsters, their signature deep-dish pizza, and pioneering architecture seriously, if you do nothing else here, take the Chicago River Architecture Cruise. The city is crammed with fabulous places to stay, from the most luxurious five-stars to hip hostels. Most options lie in the city center, but more choices are springing up in Chicagos dynamic outer neighborhoods.
Most of the Windy Citys biggest attractions are in or close to The Loop, the downtown area roughly bounded by the central loop of the L Train and the shore of Lake Michigan. Today, much of Downtowns commercial activity and some of the best restaurants and bars in the city have spread beyond the Loop to adjacent districts: South Loop, West Loop, and the famous shopping strip of Magnificent Mile, which separates the River North and Streeterville districts. This barely scratches the surface, however Chicago sprawls for well over 25 miles in all directions from here, a patchwork of neighborhoods and suburban communities dubbed Chicagoland. .
While its relatively easy to explore the city center on foot, Chicagos outer neighborhoods cover a vast area that is best approached by Chicago Transit Authoritys 24-hour L Train network, Metra trains, or taxis and Uber/Lyft. If driving yourself, be prepared for overnight parking rates of up to $50 at top hotels in the city center.

Days In Chicago Day 1
Lets start Day 1 in Chicago by enjoying some of the best views Chicago has to offer.
For panoramic views of Chicago, head to 360 CHICAGO , a public observatory on the 94th Floor of 875 N Michigan that offers breathtaking 360 degrees views of the city skyline and Lake Michigan.
If you prefer to enjoy views over a meal or a drink, 875 North Michigan Avenue has a restaurant on its 95th floor named The Signature Room at the 95th and a bar on the 96th floor called The Signature Lounge at the 96th.
The 360 Chicago observation deck is also home of TILT Chicagos highest thrill ride an enclosed moving platform that literally tilts you out over Michigan Avenue from the 94th Floor.

Chicago Girls Weekend Shopping: Where To Hit
The area on and around the Magnificent Mile has everything from designer stores such as Louis Vuitton and Chanel to budget friendly meccas such as H& M and Forever 21 and every type of shopping in between. My recommendation: TopShop and the American Girl Place
TopShop: This European institution only recently made its way to the U.S. and only has shops in the states in Chicago, NYC, and Las Vegas. Shop here for trendy outfits and staples with a twist your wardrobe will immediately have some Euro-flair.
American Girl Place: Even if you dont have daughters to shop for, an amble through this store will have those of you who had the dolls growing up reminiscing and those of you who are new to the American Girl doll obsession in awe. Row after row of dolls and accessories line the store. Head upstairs to see the doll beauty salon, doll hospital, and American Girl Cafe which has special seating at each table for the dolls. The store also may have you asking your friends: Do you think my husband will put me in the loony bin if I come home with an American Girl doll for myself?
Chicago Girls Weekend Shopping Tip: Decide before heading out to shop til you drop how long you all want to spend shopping and where you want to shop and then compromise. That way everyone goes where they want and you dont need to worry about one person of the group getting annoyed because youre all shopping so long.

Why You Should Choose Chicago Marathon As Your Next Destination Race Plus How To Plan Your Weekend In The Windy City
Last year, I ran my first marathon, the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. It was an incredible experience that I highly recommend for fellow runners. Here Im sharing why its the perfect destination race for Canadian runners. Plus, how to plan your weekend for race day success and optimal recovery.
Why Chicago Marathon?
Well for starters, its one of the most renowned marathons in the world. Chicago is one of six marathons that make up the Abbott World Marathon Majors series. That means elite athletes are competing in this marathon for points based on finishing place, and are hoping to secure their spot as the worlds best. Last year at the 2018 Chicago Marathon, British runner Mo Farah won the mens race with a time of 2:05:11 Kenyas Brigid Kosgei won the womens race in 2:18:35.
But its not only elites that run Chicago Marathon, or any marathon for that matter. Among the 2018 runners were comedian Kevin Hart and Chicago Fire actress Miranda Rae Mayo. As well, the number of female runners at the Chicago Marathon has been rising steadily with women accounting for 47 percent of 2018 participants. In total, 44, 571 runners finished the 2018 Chicago Marathon, an increase in the number of 2017 finishers.

Close Out Your First Night In Chicago At An Irish Pub
Chicago has a huge Irish population, and therefore quite a few Irish pubs located around the city. Our best recommendation is to find one close to your hotel and pop in for a Guinness as a night-cap. Laugh Together At Some Improv Comedy
Another of my absolute must-dos in Chicago is to see some improvised comedy. Chicago is home to Second City, an improv school and performance center that boasts alumni like Bill Murray, Steve Carell, and Tina Fey. But Second City isn’t the only place to catch live improv in Chicago there are tons of shows and venues to choose from!
I decided to take Elliot to see my very favorite show in Chicago: the Improvised Shakespeare Company. During each show, the cast totally improvises a complete play in the style of Shakespeare, based on title suggestions from the audience.
Elliot was a bit skeptical, but afterwards even he agreed that this group is phenomenally talented .

But thats not all, River North is also home to an amazing array of restaurants. Offering up everything from traditional American fare to fashionable fusions, your taste buds will be amazed by all the culinary adventures available in River North.
