Manarola Is Where To Stay In Cinque Terre For The Best Views

Manarola is one of the most well-known towns in Italy. Although you may not know it by name, chances are you have seen it in a painting, postcard, or photograph somewhere in your life.

If you are looking for where to stay in Cinque Terre that is picture-perfect, then choosing a hotel in Manarola will be the best option for you. Manarola is known for its wine production and the way the buildings are built as if they were sliding down off the cliff that hugs a cute inlet.

Unlike Riomaggiore, Manarola has fewer shops and bars and nightlife so if you are looking for a quieter experience, this is where to stay in Cinque Terre for you. This village books up fast so you should make your reservation as early as possible if this is the hotel you want to stay at during your visit!

If you are looking for the best views that dont require lots of hiking, choose Manarola when searching for your Cinque Terre hotels. There is a wonderfully easy loop that takes you from the town along the Ligurian Coast so you can experience a scenic and peaceful walk. Manarola is one of the best places to stay for photographers and nature lovers due to its proximity to postcard-worthy views.

Upsides: Picture-perfect village. Good location in the center of Cinque Terre. Quaint and authentic Italian feel. Easy hiking and easy to walk around.

Downsides: Fewer nightlife and bar options. Hotels book up quickly so you must book well in advance.

Corniglia Is The Best Place To Stay In Cinque Terre To Avoid Crowds And Live Like A Local

If youre looking at where to stay in Cinque Terre that is off the beaten path and not overrun with tourists, then Corniglia is for you.

Corniglia is the oldest of the Cinque Terre towns and is the only one that doesnt sit directly on the water. Home to only 150 local residents, Corniglia is often overlooked by tourists, but it is actually a great choice if you are wanting a quiet town to escape the crowds.

Corniglia is within walking distance of Vernazza and a wonderful place to call home during your time in Cinque Terre. Because most people overlook Corniglia you can often find budget accommodations here.

Keep in mind that because Corniglia is situated high atop a cliff, there is a climb to get into the town. A climb of 365 steps to be exact.

Not to worry though, if you dont feel like trekking up the stairs, there is a small shuttle bus that you can catch outside of the train station that will tote you up to the village.

Corniglia The Quietest Town In The Cinque Terre

Where to stay in Cinque Terre, Italy: The Best Hotels and ...

If you want to avoid crowds and looking for somewhere off-the-beaten-path, Corniglia is the best base for you. This ancient Roman village is nestled on top of a 100m high rocky promontory, the quiet middle village, surrounded on three sides by vineyards and terraces. It is the only one of the five villages without access to the sea.

Corniglia is the village which is at the highest elevation, and because of that, the views are dramatic! There are beaches that sit underneath the village, and these are ideal for chilling the hell out in the sun, whilst also being relatively sheltered by large rocks too. Again, Corniglia may not be the best of the villages if you have mobility problems.

The quiet and charming Guvano beach is a popular place with nudists worldwide. A rocky cove, Corniglia Marina beach can be reached through some steep steps from the main square. and Corniglia beach is near an abandoned tourist resort, Villaggio Europa.

Corniglia is linked with its train station viathe 377 stairs Lardarina. The town is characterized by caruggi and colorful houses.

The Corniglias main square, the eighteenth-century Largo Taragio, is home to some lovely café-restaurant and the Oratory of Santa Caterina, a memorial to the soldiers of World War I.

From Largo Taragio, you can visit the gothic Ligurian style, Church of San Pietro, and beautiful St Marys Terrace, where you can appreciate marvelous views of Riomaggiore, Manarola, Monterosso al Mare, and Vernazza.

How To Find Cheap Accommodation In Cinque Terre

Cinque Terre is very popular and accommodation is limited. Prices vary enormously during the season and Cinque Terre is the perfect example of offer and demand. When the demand goes up, so do the prices of accommodation.

Youll find some basic tips to land cheap accommodation in Cinque Terre. This also applies to other regions in the world, but I found it particularly useful in Cinque Terre.

Book your hotel ahead

I love travel planning and I can plan ahead as far as a year in advance. For Cinque Terre, it seems impossible to find reasonably priced accommodation for a family vacation in July or August. But they are out there. First come, first serve.

If you book in January of February, chances are, you have plenty of options to choose from and you can find a good deal for your overnight stay in Cinque Terre.

Travel in the shoulder season

I almost solely travel in the shoulder season as I dont have to abide by summer holidays. I cant stand the extreme heat and Id rather have the place to myself. Oh, and I like shoulder season prices. A lot! Ok, the weather might be a deal breaker, but the months of April and May and September and October can have very nice weather. If you book in April, the same hotel with double bedroom costs you 60. The same room in September will be 100 and if still available, expect to pay over 150 in July or August. Same room, different prices.

Youll not find much accommodation in Cinque Terre with the name Hotel. And even if they do, they might be a bit different than the hotels youre used to. As the Cinque Terre villages are small and historic, there is no room to put a giant 11 story high luxury hotel in Cinque Terre.

Youll find small boutique hotels, often located at the top stores of old apartment buildings. Elevators are a rare thing and check-in time is limited. Not all hotels have on-site restaurants or even have a lobby. But, I did my best to find you the best Cinque Terre hotels.

Where To Stay Near Cinque Terre For Cheap: La Spezia

The best places to visit in Cinque Terre, Italy | Condé Nast Traveller

La Spezia is a city, not a village, and is not in the Cinque Terre National Park. It is the second largest town in Liguria and the main economic one.

It is the door to Cinque Terre, and being a vibrant economical center, you will find it is way cheaper than the others places I have described earlier. It is offer and demand.

However there are still some good touristic wanders to have in this typical Italian city. Your breath will not be taken away by the views but some museums and peculiar architectural entities might spark interest to you.

The lido, the harbor and the Lerici castle are among the main sights along with the pretty colored houses that you will find again in all the other villages.

In short, La Spezia is perfect if youre looking for where to stay near Cinque Terre! You can easily take the train to the National Park, but also to other Italian cities such as Pisa or Florence.

Pros & Cons of Staying in La Spezia

Best Budget Hotel: Lia Rooms 3

Yes, the bathrooms are shared. However, the quality of this place is very high compared with the price.

Indeed, when I look for a cheap place I want to sleep well, and Lia Rooms 3 does the job pretty well.

Its also very clean, and we know this can be scary sometime!
