These are actually the newest rooms in town at the moment, the latest demolished old motel to build new high-rise conversion. The hotel is two streets back from the beach, with the Hyatt blocking most of the views, so dont book here expecting a panoramic Gulf of Mexico vista. Youre just a block away from the beach though and an easy walk to the pier, restaurants, the marina, and bars along the strip.

Looking to go a few days mid April and its between the Hyatt Clearwater or Tradwinds or Sirata in St. Pete Beach. Worried about some of the reviews for Tradewinds and Sirata . Im also worried about crowds at either Clearwater or St. Pete. Going with a 13 year old teenage boy and will be doing Bush Gardens. Is one closer than the other to Bush Gardens? Is one hotel/location most recommended for his age? Thank you!

What To Do In Tampa
Tampas Riverwalk skirts along the Hillsborough River, winding its way from the Channel District through downtown Tampa to the Tampa Heights neighborhood. Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach
The Wyndham shares the same great location on the main strip of Clearwater Beach as the Hyatt. But in my opinion, it’s a little bit more upscale. The hotel is newer in general, and the rooms are a bit more modern and fancy feeling.
The hotel has a beautiful pool. It’s on the ground level, so you don’t get the same views as the Hyatt pool, but it does it make the pool area more accessible from the beach.
Again, you’re just steps away from Pier 60 and you can find chair and umbrella rentals available on the beach just in front of the hotel. Just be aware that there is no hotel parking, so you will have to valet your car.
Getting To And Around The Tampa Bay Area
International and domestic flights arrive daily at Tampa International Airport , consistently ranked as a top airport in the U.S., and St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport , across the bay. Travelers also can arrive into Tampas historic Union Station onboard Amtrak, and sail into the Port of Tampa via ship.
Once here, your best bet is to rent a car to navigate the area, or request an Uber or Lyft, both of which are readily available. The 2.7-mile long Tampa Historic Streetcar line connects downtown Tampa to the Channel District and Ybor City.

The Hot and Crabby Shrimp Dip on Garlic Toast and their famous Wings are a must to start, followed by King Crab Legs. Also, the Scooby Snack shot in their souvenir light up shot glass is amazing, just sayin!
- Extreme Pizza While this is a nationwide chain, the Clearwater Beach location is right where you want to be and we loved their gourmet pizzas. Great for the family, people watching on the patio and for a beer.
- ClearSky On Cleveland This is such a great find as brunch in their hacienda-themed back area was a delight. The hardest part was deciding on just one item to order as everything is great. Oh, and by the way, its called Cleveland because of the street name, not the Ohio city.

Best Family Resort: Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach
We posted a full review of Hyatt Clearwater Beach not too long ago. We stayed there for the second time, after first rooming there when it had the unfortunate luck of opening during the global financial crisis at the end of 2009. They recently completed a major round of renovations in the rooms, updating furnishings and adding more electrical outlets. The rooms here have always been the big draw though: the majority of them have kitchens and are much larger than others in the area. The Shor American Seafood Grill is excellent and the outdoor seating area gives you views like this:
The pool area here is terrific when occupancy is low, but is woefully inadequate when more than half the 287 rooms are filled. The basic rectangle quickly fills up with kids in vacation season and chairs can become scarce. On the plus side if youre a parent, this Hyatt has a full kids club with a dedicated food menu, a kiddie pool, and supervised activities. Sheraton Sand Key Resort
The Sheraton is technically in Sand Key, not Clearwater Beach. But if you’re travelling as a family with kids, I strongly suggest that you consider this one. Sand Key is just a short hop over from Clearwater Beach. This is actually the hotel I choose for my own family when we want to stay at the beach for a couple nights.
The Sheraton often has great rates compared to hotels on the main strip of Clearwater Beach, and in my opinion, it’s the single most comfortable hotel for families in the area.
First off, the beach is absolutely huge and gorgeous. It’s every bit as wonderful as the main Clearwater Beach, perhaps even more so, but way less crowded. The hotel offers their own chair and umbrella rentals right out front. There is a great beachside pool and cafe, and a small playground. Big parking lot with plenty of space. And there’s even a little shop in the hotel that sells things like milk, snacks, and cereal, which is so handy with kids.
There are a few restaurants within walking distance, notably Columbia and a great little pizza place. But the downside is that you’ll need to drive if you want to go over to the main tourist strip and Pier 60.

Does anyone have any recommendations please? We prefer self catering to a hotel..it doesnt need to be posh – just comfortable. We dont know the area at all. Ive been searching all the different accommodation and there is so much choice, Im confused. We will be there for 3 nights…

Clearwater is a small town near the Park – there are other options if you drive out of town near the park entrance which is about 25 kms. This is one place in that area

We are staying for 1 night in Vancouver on the day we land

3 nights in Clearwater
5 nights in Jasper
5 nights in Banff
1 night on the way back to Vancouver to break the journey
4 nights Vancouver Island
1night Vancouver before we fly home
That is the slowest paced itinerary I have seen (-: which is a good idea as long as you understand that these allow for slow lazy days and/or lots of great hikes.

Palm Pavilion Inn On Clearwater Beach
The Palm Pavilion Inn is a great smaller resort located right on the beach offering toned-down rooms with amenities like TV, wi-fi and a small kitchen.
