Upper And Lower Deer Valley
Deer Valley Resort is split into two areas: lower Deer Valleyknown as Snow Parkand upper Deer Valleyknown as Silver Lake Village. What is the difference, you may ask?
Upper Deer Valley is home to the most luxurious lodging in the area, including the Montage Deer Valley, Stein Eriksen Lodge, and the St. Regis Deer Valley. Most properties in this area are Ski-in/Ski-out and are a bit isolated from the rest of Park City. The isolation can either be a feature or a drawback, depending on your taste. Town is only a quick shuttle or car ride away.
What Park City Offers
Park City itself is a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts of any kind, or guests seeking the culture and shopping notorious within popular mountain resort towns. Throughout all of Park City, there is something for everyone, and it’s all very accessible from any of the resorts via public transportation or private transport. Most guests prefer Deer Valley vs Park City downtown because it provides great services within easy walking distance, meticulously kept grounds and the most varied mountain terrain throughout all of Park City. But we invite you to decide for yourself, there is certainly no bad visit to Park City… but Deer Valley is definitely our personal favorite!
Want to experience the best of Park City, consider Deer Valley as your home base, and take day trips to visit the rest of Park City!
Drive From Boulder To Deer Valley Ut For Thanksgiving
We are planning to meet family in Deer Valley, Utah for Thanksgiving. We like the idea of combining trip with a college visit – by flying from CT. to Denver – visiting Univ. of Colorado in Boulder and then driving to Utah. Is this a feasible plan? Or will there be too much snow in late Nov.?
In some years in Stbt Spgs we’ve walked around in short sleeve shirts and shorts on Thanksgiving wondering when the snow will come. In other years we’ve had 2ft in the valley already . I’d just try to be flexible on your traveling days and pay attention to weather forcasts.
Scattered snow showers and small storms arent to bad to travel through, but a big frontal system would be a monumental mistake to set out towards the Wasatch in. If you’re getting a rental I’d get 4wd ,stick a shovel in the back and have your AAA card up to date. Not trying to scare you just precautions. That’s life in the Mts.
Feasible? Totally! Just be prepared.

Packing For A Ski Trip
When I am packing for a trip with all 4 kids, this is how I lay everything out so that I dont miss anything. I pack the same amount of things for each child including underwear, socks, shoes, thermals, shirts, pants, toothbrush, etc. Laying it out like this and putting each item in the same exact place helps me not forget anything. I can gladly say I havent had any issues till date. Their backpacks are on the couch with the clothes they will wear to the airport, and each kids backpack is aligned with their packing cube on the floor. Not pictured is their snow gear, hats, ski suit and boots which I packed in another bag.
PS make sure to pack an outfit for dinner for each night that you are at Deer Valley Resort. We enjoyed getting out of our snow clothes, taking a shower and then getting dressed and heading to dinner.
Food At Deer Valley Resort

Every single meal we had at Deer Valley Resort was amazing! I am not exaggerating when I say Deer Valley Resort has some of the best restaurants Ive eaten at. There are a variety of restaurants depending on what youre in the mood for. Youll never have to go off the resort for a meal unless you absolutely want to. Every single one of the restaurants offered kid friendly meal options as well.

Goldener Hirsch Inn Restaurant we took the lift to get to this restaurant for lunch. They offer slippers so that you can rest your feet while you eat. I needed it badly because my feet hurt in the snow boots. Such a relaxing atmosphere and top notch food.

Where To Stay Deer Valley Park City Or The Canyons
Hello! My family of four is traveling this spring, 3/25-4/1, to Park City. We have two boys 9 & 11 who are great skiers. We would like to ski all three resorts and would appreciate any advice/suggestions on the best place to stay…should we stay by Deer Valley, Park City Resort ,or the Canyons? We typically stay in a 3-4 star, ski-in-ski-out hotel when we have traveled to other ski resorts, but as we would like to explore more than one resort I don’t know if that is necessary. Thanks!
Park City and Canyons is now one resort, Park City Mountain and managed by Vail Resorts. The new Quicksilver Gondola will provide access between the two resorts. . You may want to look into purchasing an Epic Pass that can be used at all Vail Resorts, worldwide. Here’s a link with information:
Park City has a free, efficient bus system that runs between Deer Valley, Park City, Canyons and points in between. So it may not be necessary to do the ski in/ski out option.
Grand Summit at Canyons Village is one of the best ski in/out properties, just a two minute walk to choice of two lifts. With the new megaresort Connie mentioned, you can use that as a base to ski the entire Park City complex on one ticket. You can also look at at the Park City base. That’s less attractive a property but it would put you closer to Main Street and to Deer Valley.
Have fun.
We are staying at 12/2015 and likely skiing Deer Valley.
Thank you!
Do Some Downhill Mountain Biking
There are so many active things to do in Deer Valley in the summer, one of the most popular is downhill mountain biking. Grab a lift ticket and hook up your bike up to the lifts and get ready for an adventure riding down Bald mountain. The views are absolutely incredible and the downhill path has different levels of adventure, so if you are experienced or more of a novice you can jump on your bike and ride on down. If you have little ones, there is a Mountain Bike school where your kids can learn how to properly mountain bike.

Ever since our first ski trip to Winter Park, Colorado last year was a huge hit, we decided to make skiing with kids a yearly thing. Aiden absolutely fell in love with skiing, by the end of his first day at ski school he asked me to buy him his very own skis.
When I told the kids that we would all be going skiing this year at Deer Valley Resort, they were so excited. I was just as excited too especially for them. Before choosing Deer Valley Resort, I made sure to do my research on whether it would be family friendly or not and it definitely didnt disappoint.

Planning Your Time On The Mountain
Once you have your flight and lodging booked, the very next thing to do is book everyones ski lessons and, if needed, child care. Deer Valleys ski school is famous for its quality instructors, and for that reason, it books up *fast. *So think ahead while youre trip planning. Will your kids need lessons? And, moreover, just how much skiing will they have energy to do? When their ski legs are all worn out, the Childrens Center offers exceptional child care with great adult-to-child ratios. Kids love it so much that they generally beg to go back the next day. By letting your kids have a blast at the Childrens Center while theyre not skiing, you can enjoy some valuable adult-only ski time or hours on the ski hill with just one kid at a time.
While youre booking lessons and child care, think about whether the adults in your group would like a lesson or two as well. In a session with a private instructor or in a small group of similarly skilled adults, you can make excellent progress that helps you enjoy skiing even more. Maybe you overcome your fear of trying your first intermediate run, or maybe you work from advanced to expert on the moguls. Its always worthwhile to become more competent and confident.
