Travelled to Fresno for business and brought my family along. The room was nice, top floor with the view of the mountains . The breakfast was great . We wished they kept the dining area open throughout the day for seating since there’s no room to sit with family in the rooms .

I Visted Fresno To See My Son Play In The Ca State Concert

I visted Fresno to see my son play in the CA State Concert Band. The Saroyan Theater was the best part of my journey, and seeing multiple bands and orchestras perform, with members considered the best of the state. Otherwise, the Manhattan Deli served good hot sandwiches! Yet even the gas stations seemed dicey, and the city seems so worried about crime or pandemic, that gas stations with shops inside lock their doors and I got a bad vibe from people waiting to use the bathroom. I would not visit again for a “pleasure” trip. There is nothing happening in the downtown area, outside of our group, the downtown is deserted. A little away from downtown everything about the way people park, walk and interact suggests wariness about crime.I will say the Hotel Piccadilly was a decent place to stay with great Tapas!I did not feel safe in the city.

    What To Do In Fresno

Right, we have booked our flights and will be staying in Fresno the last 2 weeks of March.

This time we have no problem with where we are all going to stay as there is less of us going so not a problem to stay with relatives.

What I need this time is some ideas for activities for myself, husband, daughter 22, sons 16, 19, & 21.

The boys are very sporty and love all the ameican ball games so maybe there is some games we can go see?

They also like water sports and we did look into white water rafter at Mercid but have been told March is too early for this?

I know there are several lakes around and outside of Fresno so is it possible to go jet ski-ing? Can the they be hired on sight?

We have the use of a car so travelling is not a problem.

Would be grateful for any ideas

Fresno is closeby to two beautiful national Parks, Yosemite and Sequoia. This would give you numerous opportunities for hiking. If you like snow skiing, then it’s possible at Badger Pass at Yosemite. The season should last until the end of March. If you don’t like it then you might enjoy learning.

Have a look at the sports schedule for Cal State Fresno Univesity. It’s the end of basketball season, but baseball is starting up. I believe that it’s too early for the local city baseball team schedule.

The problem with March is that it is still a little chilly in the mountain areas where the lakes are and too cold for things other than fishing.

Hope that this gets you started.
