Laurance S Rockefeller Preserve And Phelps Lake Trails
The Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve Center has exhibits, ranger-led hikes, and junior ranger activities. From the center, the moderate 6.3-mile Phelps Lake Loop trail encircles the lake at the entrance to death canyon.
From the nearby Death Canyon trailhead, a moderate, 2-mile hike leads to the elevated Phelps Lake Overlook. Keep in mind, you would have to hike another mile down to reach the shoreline from here. The Phelps Lake Loop is a better option for a lakeside hike.

How To Be A Conscious Visitor
Youve just hiked to the most high-alpine lake youve ever seen and want to share it with all your followers. Please dont geotag your precise location. At Delta Lake, a malachite-hued, glacial-fed body of water picturesquely positioned at the feet of Disappointment Peak and the Grand Teton that creates incredible mirror reflections of those mountains, the area has been so severely damaged by hundreds of quick-hit daily visitors that the local tourism board started an ad campaign asking them to use the generic geotag Tag Responsibly, Keep Jackson Hole Wild instead of specific locations.
North Of Jackson Hole

The Gros Ventre River area north of the National Elk Refuge hosts many exceptional and secluded guest ranches, with your own private wilderness less than 20 miles from Town Square. These ranches typically offer multi-day and week-long adventures, once-in-a-lifetime luxury accommodations, and an array of activities such as horseback riding, fly-fishing, world-class hiking, and exceptional dining. Flat Creek Ranch is proud to be one of Jackson Hole’s first eco-friendly sustainable ranches with their electricity coming from a state-of-the-art solar system: a symbol of their ethos for preserving the pristine environment surrounding the historic ranch.

Jenny Lake Hidden Falls And Inspiration Point
Right at the base of the Tetons, Jenny Lake is one of the most popular destinations in the park. The mountains that hug the shoreline make a picture-perfect reflection when the water is still.
While there are a lot of adventurous hikes and longer lakeshore walks in this area, on your first day in Grand Teton, I recommend trying a short fan-favorite trail for a sampling of some of the best park scenery.
The Inspiration Point and Hidden Falls hike is about 2 miles roundtrip and moderately difficult. Take the spur just off the main trail to the waterfall view before climbing up to the Inspiration Point lookout. In the summer season, boats shuttle hikers across the lake to the trailhead for a fee. Without it, the hike becomes 6 miles, roundtrip, to follow the shoreline from the parking area to the trailhead.

Road Closures In The Winter
When visiting the Tetons in the winter, pay attention to winter closing dates. Check the NPS website for .
The Teton Park Road is closed November 1 to April 30 from Taggart Lake Trailhead to Signal Mountain Lodge. During this time the road is used for skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking from mid-December to mid-March.
Moose-Wilson Road is usually closed to vehicles until mid-May. When its snow-packed its open to skiing, snowshoeing and hiking.
Highway 191 from Jackson to Moran is open.
Vehicles with four-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, or all-weather tires are recommended for winter travel. Roads may be closed during blizzards.
Drive at or below posted speed limits as conditions warrant moose and other wildlife are often seen crossing roads during the winter.
Jackson Lake Lodge The Best Hotel In Grand Teton National Park
Among the Grand Teton hotels, Jackson Lake Lodge is undoubtedly one of the most popular. It has incredible views of the Teton Mountain Range and Jackson Lake, which is why some travelers stop at this hotel even if they have no intention of staying there. In addition, there are three restaurants and even a swimming pool in the resort. Bear in mind that its only open from May to October.

Day : Views And Moose
On your second day in the park, bookend your day with scenic vistas, and spend the middle of the day on a hike to one of the many amazing lakes in Grand Teton National Park.
Sunrise Views
If youre up for an early wake up call and stunning mountain vistas, head to the Snake River overlook for sunrise.
The Teton Range lights up with this incredible pink hue as the sun hits it, and both Alysha and I were mesmerized as the pink slowly morphed into golden hour. Fun fact: Ansel Adams loved this spot!
About 30 minutes after the sun has risen and its golden glow has lit up the valley, head over to Mormon Row to check out the Insta-famous T.A. Moulton Barn. I learned that this area is called Mormon Row for a reason Mormons left Utah in search of more land, found themselves in Wyoming with spectacular views of the Tetons, and said Yeah, this looks pretty good. Not a bad spot to grab real estate.
Ill be completely honest, the barn was definitely one of those Instagram vs. Reality moments, especially because we were there when it was a little smoky from wildfires on the West Coast. Still, its worth seeing, and its a good spot to find bison too. Make sure to head across the main road from T.A. Moulton barn to check out the rest of Mormon Row too.
Lakeside Hiking
Next, its time for a leisurely stroll around some beautiful lakes. Youve got two great options for that nearby.
We went back three different times at both sunrise and sunset, and heres what we saw:

Grand Teton In Spring
Because winter is so long, spring is extraordinarily short. May sees things start to open up, the weather starts to warm up and the snow start to melt. But this is very much a transitional period and things may not be open or accessible.
The inner Teton Park Road usually opens May 1 but other roads in the area that you may want to access such as Antelope Flats, Moose-Wilson Road and Signal Mountain Summit dont usually open until mid-May at the earliest.
The campgrounds and hotels in the park open mid-May and they usually have lower rates at this time of year.
There is still lots of snow on the ground and what you are able to do will be somewhat limited. The average high is usually in the low 60s F / mid-teens C.
Visiting Grand Tetons in May/ spring is the best time to see wildlife, as the animals are becoming more active.
This is also when the annual antler auction is usually held in Jacksons Town Square. Thousands of elk antlers are collected from the neighboring areas and they are sold by the Scouts.

Colter Bay Village & Cabins

- Pros: Resort-style activities on Jackson Lake
- Cons: A little far away from Jackson and Jenny Lake
Colter Bay Village is located on Jackson Lake and its like a large resort, with boating, swimming , camping, an RV Park, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and horseback riding.
My opinion: Like Headwaters, stay here if you have a family and youre looking for fun activities, especially water activities.

Another Good Place To Stay In Grand Teton National Park
Signal Mountain Lodge is another place that I like to stay at whenever I am visiting Grand Teton National Park. It sits right on the shore of Jackson Lake with the Teton Mountains in the background.
Signal Mountain Lodge offers different accommodations. You can choose from rustic cabins, or rooms at the lodge, or bungalows. My recommendation is to go with Lakefront Retreats. Specifically, make sure to select upper lakefronts with a balcony.
The prices per night start at about $400.
Now, these are comfortable but no frills kind of accommodations. First of all, what is important to me, is that they are clean, the beds are comfortable, and the water in the shower is hot.
What is nice is that each unit comes with a nicely equipped small kitchen area.
If you decide to stay at Signal Mountain Lodge, then make sure to drive to Signal Mountain Summit. The views of the Teton Range are one of the best ones form the viewing platform at Signal Mountain Summit.
Signal Mountain Summit is the best location to see stunning sunsets in Grand Teton National Park. Now, make sure to start driving at least an hour before the sunset to secure the best viewing spot because it does get crowded. By the way, there are two parking lots, so head to the second parking lot, which is situated above the first one and offers better views.
