Another area that is popular for weekend getaways is Portals Nous, which is a classy enclave for those looking to do a bit of celebrity spotting, high-end shopping, or rubbing shoulders with the elite. Its just 10km from Palma, so its easy to get to and you dont need to rent a car to get around.

Magaluf Best For Nightlife And Partying
If you are mainly visiting Mallorca with the goal of being able to party at night and go to the beaches during the day, then Magaluf is an excellent place for you to consider. This is one of the best places to stay in Mallorca and is on the western side of the island, not that far from Palma.
More often than not, this tends to be where a lot of younger tourists stay when traveling to Mallorca because of how many parties there are. Its also well connected to Palma and the rest of the island, which is why its also a great place to stay for a Mallorca road trip.

What To Do In Mallorca For Couples
Mallorca is certainly a popular destination for weddings, honeymoons, and romantic breaks of all kinds. For starters, there are plenty of adults-only hotels that cater to couples, from remote fincas in the scenic countryside to luxurious spa hotels with stunning sea views. If hitting the water is your idea of romance, there are numerous charter companies around the island where you can hire a boat for a half-day, full day, or longer and many dont require a license. This is one way to find that secluded spot and spend some quality time with your sweetheart. Alternatively, doe-eyed lovers can hop in a hot-air balloon to enjoy stunning mountain and sea panoramas while gliding across the island at sunset a perfect setting for popping the question.
Best Beach Hotels In Spain
Carema Beach Menorca is a nice hotel with an open and breezy feel that is all about the sea and the beach. From most of the rooms in this hotel, you will have a great view of the beach. The hotel has a nice pool with little islands to chill and sunbathe on. It is also directly connected to the beach and is located in the heart of Cala n Bosch, close to all the bars, restaurants and nightlife. This area of Menorca is excellent for those looking for a family beach holiday.
It does not sound logical to have the most beautiful beach in a big busy capital. But for the Playa de las Canteras in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, this is the case. Here you will find the Bull Reina Isabel and Spa right next to the beach. If you dont feel like going to the beach one day, they have a rooftop pool overlooking the beach. Since this is the islands capital, there are many markets, shopping centres, and restaurants.
A very family-friendly hotel right next to one of the more beautiful beaches in Mallorca is the Zafiro Bahia in Playa de Muro. The hotel has many different pools for adults only, children play pools and relax pools, but the main attraction is the Playa de Muro beach. This is often named one of the nicer beaches in Mallorca, and the Zafiro Bahia is right next to this beachs more untouched and pristine area.

Where To Stay For Walking In Mallorca
Walking in Majorca is becoming one of the most popular activities for people on holiday. This island offers a variety of routes with unparalleled views. Choose to hike around the mountain range of Serra de Tramuntana in the northwest, Pla de Mallorca, around the sandy beaches and coves or old picturesque valleys and mountain villages where time seems to stand still. The walking trails in Mallorca are as diverse as its nature, you will find everything from well-walked routes to almost forgotten paths so you don’t have to be a hiking enthusiast to explore the island’s landscape. The best time of year to go walking in Majorca is from February to May.
Find many routes around the Serra de Tramuntana and for a rural escape to Mallorca, rent a holiday home in the mountains of Fornalutx to be located near the hiking trails. There is an easier route around the municipality of Valldemossa which is about 14 km long with a climb of 769 m and the views highlight the scenic landscapes of Pla des Pouet and Mirador de Can Costa. On a four-hour hike from Fornalutx to Puig de Sa Bassa, you will walk amongst orange trees, holm oak forests and olive groves for about 10 km. The hiking trails become more demanding the further up the mountain you venture, and routes such as Tossals-Verds Massif and circular route Embassament de Cúber can be challenging but rewarding with spectacular views.

Sant Elm A Charming Coastal Village On The South
The charming coastal village Sant Elm , in the northwest corner of Mallorca, is perhaps less well-known than some other tourist resorts. It is an ideal place for those wanting to avoid crowds with just a small number of hotels and restaurants.
The natural landscape is beautiful and there are few better places on the Island to see a sunset. Its home to Serra de Tramuntana, a good place for hiking and cycling.
It is still a fishing village so you will get the freshest of quality seafood in the restaurants. One of the popular activities for those staying in Sant Elm is to take the boat that runs over to Sa Dragonera Natural Park directly opposite the village.
Along the coastline, you will find two ancient watchtowers the 1279 Sant Elm tower and the 1585 Cala Basset tower to protect the town from pirate attacks.
Another tourist sight in Sant Elm is the pebbled beaches like Cala es Conills and Cala en Basset and the fine-sanded beaches, Sa Petita beach, Sa gran beach which is ideal to sunbathe and to swim.
You can also visit a small and charming town nearby sArracó, and enjoy beautiful traditional Mallorcan houses on its main street, Calle França or France Street.

Sir Anthony is a pretty unique hotel in Playa de las Americas. When arriving, I thought it was an adults-only hotel, but it was not. This hotel is adult-oriented. So mainly aimed at adults, but children are welcome also, but I did not see any under 12 years old. The whole hotel has a pretty personal and private feel and is located right next to the beautiful Playa del Camison and close to all the restaurants and active nightlife this area offers. But the hotel is located far enough away from it all not to be disturbed by it.
Insotel Punta Prima Prestige Suites & Spa is one of the most beautiful hotels in Menorca. Located in the Punta Prima area, it is very close to the airport, so ideal for those staying just a few days. But dont worry, none of the aeroplanes flies over or close to this area, so it is very peaceful and relaxed here. The hotel is set in a large area with lots of space and beautiful gardens.
The Meloneras area in Gran Canaria is your ideal destination for a luxury holiday on the island. Most of the hotels in this area are new or newly renovated and cater to an upscale audience. In this area, you find the Seaside Grand Hotel Residencia. This is a 5-star GL hotel. That is basically 6 stars, but since Gran Canaria does not have an official 6-star classification, it is ranked as 5-star Grande Luxe.
Santa Ponsa A Popular Beach Holiday Resort In West Mallorca
Santa Ponsa to the southwest of Palma deserves its reputation as a family-friendly resort. It is the best area where to stay in Mallorca with family.
There is accommodation specifically designed for families but also adult-only establishments. While it is not as built up as places like Magaluf, that is an advantage because there is more space on the sandy Blue Flag beach.
Santa Ponsa Beach is more than 500 meters long, relatively deep, with beach facilities like sunbeds, parasols, public toilets, and plenty of watersports. Theres a good choice of bars, cafes, and souvenir shops on the sea promenade. You can also visit the small beach within the Caló den Pallisser cove.
You also have attractions like Golf Santa Ponsa on the outskirts of town, Santa Ponsa Tennis Club, Jungle Parc theme park. Kids will enjoy the adventure playground while the nightlife is also impressive.
There is a large ex-pat community, especially the British, and the international cuisine available in Santa Ponsa is partly a consequence of that.
Stay in Santa Ponsa if you are looking for the best area to stay in mallorca for families, you are comfortable in an environment that is familiar to home, providing international cuisine, you do not want to worry that the kids will get bored, your preference is alternatively adult-only accommodation.

Where To Stay On The Island Of Mallorca
We, i.e. 2 couples will be staying for a week on Mallorca in September, early October 2018 and wonder where to stay? Would prefer to rent an apartment or villa and would consider renting a car. We will be flying into and out of Palma, so wonder if it makes sense to stay there? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
Stay in Palma. Everywhere is within easy drive from there and nowhere on the island is more than 1 1/2 hours drive away.
There are some fantastic villages in the mountains but they can be expensive and sometimes quite exclusive, Deià in particular plus you may not enjoy the twisty, mountainous drive back and forth everyday.
Palma has the best selection of restaurants and there are plenty of sights to see that should occupy several days if you wish. We visit the island every year, sometimes twice as we own a timeshare there. It’s definitely our favourite part of Spain. Driving on the island is very easy, less frenetic than the mainland although Palma obviously experiences the busiest traffic but nothing too troublesome. The only difficulty is parking however if you intend on parking in the large car parks along the waterfront there are plenty of ‘helpful’ people who will direct you to an empty space in return for a 1 euro ‘tip’. I would definitely recommend seeking accommodation that provides parking.
Have a great trip!
Palma De Mallorca Capital Where To Stay In Mallorca For First Time
This Capital City in the West of Mallorca and its rich history make it an essential place to experience while on the Island. The Paseo Marítimo, the Old City, and the Casco Histórico are some of the best districts to stay in Palma.
Palmas Old Town is surrounded by narrow cobbled streets, charming archways, medieval churches, grand historic Palacios, and lovely squares. Stroll around the old city, learn more about the history, and stop at Mimbreria Vidal to try some traditional Mallorcan baskets.
Paseo Marítimo is an ideal place for walks, bike rides, restaurants, and nightlife. Its a promenade that runs parallel to the seafront. Its lined with palm trees, and separate pedestrianized walkway, and a cycle lane, and is popular with both tourists and locals.
You can walk or cycle through the seafront to the little port Portixol. You will find the trendy Portixol Hotel, a pretty harbor, some great eateries, and a lovely little beach for sunbathing and swimming.
While modern development has taken place, it is its backstreets, the Moorish and medieval Christian architecture, and the sandstone Gothic cathedral, La Seu, that attracts many travelers. Visit the 14th-century Royal Palace of La Almudaina, just opposite Palmas impresive Cathedral La Seu.
Tourism has seen an increasing number of hotels, top-quality restaurants, and lively bars become more common. Modern shopping facilities mix with fashionable boutiques but also traditional artisan products.
