Stroll The Cobbled Roads Of Plaka
Plaka is the capital of Milos island. It is built on the top of a hill. From there you can enjoy a magnificent view of the gulf of Milos. It is particularly nice during the sunset. The village is full of traditional white-washed houses with coloured windows.
You will find a lot of restaurants, bars and little shops along the narrow roads. Also, you can visit the archaeological museum that has a replica from the Venus of Milos that is currently on display in the museum of Louvre in Paris.
Tip: The restaurant Phatses in Plaka has live Greek Music many nights.

The Fishing Villages Of Klima Mandrakia Or Firopotomas
One of the most endearing attractions on Milos is its quaint little fishing villages with their unique Syrma or fishermans huts, most of which are still in use today.
These colourful structures serve as storage for the fisherman and easy access to the sea at ground level with his sleeping quarters up above.
Some of these huts are now available for rent and are some of the most unique places to stay in Greece!
The roads down to the villages are sealed but they are narrow so drive carefully. The road to Klima is especially tricky but there is a nice Taverna and carpark at the bottom as a reward. Klima has the most huts and is fairly protected from onshore winds.
You really cant miss these villages when visiting Milos and staying at one is a very unique way to holiday.
Accommodation recommendations in the Milos fishing villages
Blue Sea House is one of our favourite Syrma and is at the end of the row in Klima. It can sleep 6 people in 4 beds and two sofa beds and is wonderfully appointed with great attention to detail.
Vasealis and Seaf Syrma is also very cute and can sleep 4 with a King bed in the bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room. Its been recently refurbished and has lovely views from the terrace out over the sea.
In Mandrakia, SeaScape is a lovely little white house that sits above the Fishing Huts below and is right next door to the only taverna , Medusa. Seashell is just a few meters away and can sleep 4. Book both and take over the village!

Contemporary, boutique hotel with a pool and small vineyard just steps from Pollonia Beach. Rooms, studios, and suites sleep up to 4 guests, all with private terraces and sea views. Suites and Studios include kitchenettes, and 1 Superior Room adds an outdoor, private jacuzzi. Breakfast is included in the room rates and is delivered hot and fresh to each room daily room service is available throughout the day. Hotel Milos Resort Adamas
The minimalist design is all the rage on Milos, and this hotel is another good example of the trend. The minimal decor is the main theme in all rooms, with a simple stone architecture used as an essential decoration. The property is situated some 150m from the beach and ensures panoramic views of the sea and bay.
We love it for: The hotel offers a nice choice between rooms with private verandas and suites with private pools.

Artemis Deluxe Rooms Paliochori
From gorgeous terraces with white fabrics flowing in the wind to bright interiors defined by Cycladic style influences, and from sumptuous breakfasts to refreshing summer cocktails by the pool, Artemis offers a great experience away from hustle and bustle of the islands busiest spots.
We love it for: The swimming pool with loungers and the restaurant area is very stylish and you can descend from here directly to the beach.
What you need to know: The hotels is located at least a good 20-minute drive from some of the main things to see and do on the island. We hired a quad for the duration of the stay. It was inexpensive and allowed us to roam free and explore the island. Also, it was a lot of fun!

Pachena Coast Best Place For Local Experiences
Pachena Coast is located on the northwestern end of the island and 15 minutes drive from Adamas. Here you will find 2 pristine beaches which are Glaronisia and Pachena Beach. Pachena is a fishing village that preserves its natural texture. If you want to stay in a less touristy village my answer to where to stay in Milos is Pachena Coast.
In this fishing village, you will be able to find traditional restaurants, cafes, and some small shops. In terms of accommodation, you wont be able to find big hotels but you will be able to find more like boutique hotels and historic Greek houses that have been transformed into pensions.

Where To Eat In Milos Island Greece
So if you are wondering where to eat in Milos I recommend eating in all of these places.
Gialos
This seafront taverna is located in the beautiful seaside village of Apollonia. I have eaten there many times. It offers a big variety of dishes and its a great place to eat fresh fish.
Hamos
You will find this traditional taverna in the town of Adamas. The meat and cheese that is being served there is their own production. You should try pitarakia fried cheese pie!
Ergina
You will find this traditional taverna in the village of Tripiti. You should get there early in order to find a table in front of the balcony with view of the gulf of Milos. You should eat Kremidopita , chicken with homemade lazania, pitarakia, Ergina salad and more.
Medusa Café-Restaurant
Enjoy a memorable meal right next to the Aegean. The menu comprises of both traditional and modern island dishes, with seafood being the Chefs speciality.
Armira Seafood Restaurant
This attractive restaurant has a first-floor terrace with beautiful views of the coast. The menu comprises of a variety of delicious tastes, both from the island and Greece. Meat dishes, fresh fish, and vegetarian options are both available.

What To Eat And Drink In Pollonia
Pollonia has a very good selection of authentic seafood tavernas ranging from cheap and cheerful to more high-end spots catering to families as well as couples looking for a romantic dinner. We splashed out on a lobster pasta dish at Armenavi on our last night which was really fantastic, and they paired it with a very nice white wine. Highly recommended.
Captain Zeppos Beachfront Hotel In Pollonia
Captain Zeppos is one of Milos hotels that has an outside pool in the backyard. The beautiful Pollonia Beach is just 30 meters away. There is free WiFi available at this place. This hotel offers transportation from the airport and port as well. There is a balcony with a TV and laptop at the accommodation here, and every unit has its bathroom with a bathtub. Towels are provided for guests here, and there are dishes like dishwasher, microwave, toaster, and more too!

How Long Should I Spend In Milos
Three days is the minimum amount of time you should plan staying on the beautiful Greek island of Milos. It’s an incredible island with dozens of amazing beaches. Added onto that are the charms of the traditional fishing village of Klima, a unique landscape, the awe inspiring Kleftiko Bay, and plenty of things to see and do.
How I Feel About Milos
Third to Santorini and Mykonos is Milos in terms of being the most well-known of the Western Cyclades but you wouldn’t know it from how you can find your own pockets of paradise on the island.
As the birthplace to Aphrodite and coined island of Venus for being the place where the Venus de Milo statue was rediscovered, there’s a sense of mystery and wonder that I could connect with.
With a vast area to explore from small settlements, crazy-looking beaches, active and ruins of mining operations, sparkling waters, and amazing Greek food, it’s the kind of place where I felt like I needed at least another 3 days to see it all.
Milos to me was the perfect in-between island that wasn’t overwhelmingly busy like Santorini but not as quiet as a Folegandros. The main port of Adamas was a hive of activity and you were never alone in any of the beaches but it was nice that you didn’t have to fight for a spot to catch the sunset or walk through large crowds.
There’s more than enough of Milos for everyone to enjoy. More than that, I loved that Milos was just a little different from the others.

White Rock Milos Suites

Pollonia A Small Fishing Village With Major Charm
Unlike the hustle and bustle of Adamas, Pollonia is a fairly quiet, picturesque and family-friendly village on the northeastern corner of Milos.
During the summer months, Pollonia transforms into a bumping spot for chic vacationers. But, the village still retains a certain rustic charm about it, making it a great getaway for those hoping to avoid the major crowds.
The big attraction here is Pollonia Beach. If you feel like it, lay your towels down under a shady tamarisk tree with a glass of wine and watch the kids play along the white sand and in warm, shallow waters for the whole day.
If you prefer to sightsee and are looking for some adventure, keep reading. Because Pollonia is so small, you can see much of the village just by walking along the seaside and checking out the windy pier, which will give you great views of the bay.
On either side of the bay are two stately churches, the Church of Saint Nicholas and the Agia Paraskevi, which welcome visitors looking for a glimpse inside.
If you want to check out the neighboring island of Kimolos, ferries depart daily from Pollonia, where you can find ancient geological formations and amazing beaches.

Located just off Kleftiko Beach, visiting the Kleftiko Caves are an absolute must on Milos. Also known as the Sea Meteora, Kleftiko Caves are a series of impressive rock formations, caves, and lagoons that you can only get to by sea. The boat to get here only takes about 20 minutes, and youll get some great views of the mainland.
These naturally-occurring caves are super rare, and are also famous for the pirates that used to hide in them!
Firiplaka Beach
A long beach with pristine white sand, Firiplaka Beach is located on the southern coast of Milos, about 20 minutes from Adamas.
Firiplaka Beach is the second busiest beach on the island but is worth a visit due to its rock pools, lagoons, and other naturally-occurring formations.
Just be sure to get here early in the morning and beat the crowds!
Ancient Theater of Milos
Located close to Trypiti, the Ancient Theater of Milos is a historically-important landmark that dates back to the 3rd century BC.
Back in the day, the theater was the gathering place for about 7000 people for all kinds of performances. However, when the Romans arrived, the original theatre was destroyed and later rebuilt with the marble you see today.

Sunset Or Sunrise At Plaka Castle
This has to be one of the most memorable things to do in Milos! All thats left of this old Venetian castle is the old walls, and in its place is a beautiful white-domed church that sits high up on the hill above the sea. Its a short hike to the top, and well worth it for the stunning views. We recommend getting up for sunrise to have this place all to yourself and see the soft dawn colors over the island.

Where To Stay In Milos Adamas
If you are travelling from Athens to Milos by ferry, Adamas is the first place you will see in Milos. Also known as Adamantas, its the largest town on the island, with approximately 1,400 residents out of a population of around 5,000 people in Milos.
Adamas sits right in a big, natural bay, and it has it all rooms to let, hotels, restaurants, bars, cafes, a few shops and a couple of beaches.
Papikinou beach, about a kilometre to the east of the port, is shallow, and therefore ideal if you have children. There is also a smaller beach, Lagada, to the west of the port.
Adamas is where most boat tours and public buses depart from. It’s from here you can also take a sailing trip to see Kleftiko Milos.
If you are only planning to stay in Milos for a couple of nights, and perhaps take a Milos boat tour, but not hire a car, Adamas is the best area to stay in Milos.
Adamas is where we stayed on out second visit to Milos. All things considered, we found it the best option in terms of location.
