Where To Stay In Napa

Napa City Where To Stay In Napa Valley For First Time

Where to Stay in Napa Valley – Candlelight Inn Napa Bed & Breakfast Hotel

Known as the heart of Wine Country, Napa City is famed for having one of the loveliest historic downtowns in California.

Downtown Napa City is centered on a riverfront promenade thats buzzing with restaurants and shops. You can even rent kayaks to paddle along the Napa River for a nice change of pace.

Some highlights of downtown include the famed Oxford Public Market and the historic Napa Valley Opera House. However, Napa City is best known for its collection of wine-tasting rooms.

While this city has a small, intimate feel, youll find no shortage of hotels to choose from. If youre staying near the promenade, youll have your pick of major hotel chains right in downtown.

If youd like to find something slightly cheaper, you can save up to a $100 by staying somewhere located within a five-mile walk of the citys center.

Youll also find a number of resort hotels peppered all throughout the citys outskirts that offer views that are more open to the hills surrounding you.

The Ultimate Napa Valley Travel Guide

If youre looking for the ultimate travel guide to Napa Valley look no further.

To me, theres no vacation quite like Napa.

Picture-perfect vineyards rolling over the golden hills of California, Five-star farm-to-table restaurants with wine lists bigger than their entire menus, cozy, understated resorts with soothing spas and bubbling hot tubs, tennis courts teeming with relaxed vacationers, golfers with bottles of wine carefully tucked neatly into their carts, Bikers biking the valley from winery to winery. Cuddling up to a fireplace in your suite with a glass of the best red wine youve ever had.

If this sounds like your paradise as much as it does mine, lets toast to Napa Valley.

  • What should I pack for Napa Valley?
  • Bann At Oak Knoll Napa

The moment you step inside Bann at Oak Knoll, youll feel like youve been transported directly to Thailand. From the colorful textiles to the ornate Buddha statues and the intricately hard-carved woodwork, this resort-style bed and breakfast is a work of art. Nestled right on a vineyard in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley, this luxury retreat is hands down the most unique boutique hotel in Napa Valley!

Chef Lalita Souksamlane, who also owns five acclaimed restaurants in San Francisco, dreamed up this intimate B& B concept. Each of the three rooms was designed to represent a different region of Thailand. The word bann means home in Thai, so each themed room is adorned with luxe yet homey elements from three very different regions of the country.

Each ultra-spacious room features colorful Thai fabrics, original artwork created by local villagers, and antique pieces from Chef Lalitas collection. Youll love the decadent baths which all have free-standing tubs and Thai Jasmine bath products.

In the mornings, youll be served a lavish three-course breakfast while looking out over the saltwater pool and picture-perfect vineyard. Ingredients are sourced from the onsite organic garden and options range from Belgian waffles to Thai-style congee.

Where To Wine Taste In Napa Valley

There are hundreds of wineries to taste wine in Napa, Yountville, Saint Helena, Calistoga, Sonoma, and Healdsburg, so it can be overwhelming to choose where to wine taste and the truth is there are VERY different wine tasting experiences to choose from so here are my favorites, broken out by type of tasting experience to help you find the perfect wineries for your trip:

*JETSET TIP* Be sure to google map out your wineries ahead of time. Id recommend no more than 3 in a day for most people . Be sure the map of the wineries you choose make sense and are near each other!

Where Are The 10 Best Places To Stay In Napa Valley On A ...

In todays article, I will be looking at where to stay in Napa Valley for first-time tourists and outlining the best areas to stay in Napa Valley. So, if youre planning a trip but havent decided where to stay, I highly suggest reading on.

Napa Valley is located at the heart of Wine Country in California. One of the most popular and important wine-making regions in North America, it features more than 400 vineyards and wineries, spread out over nearly 7,000 acres, and is famous for its prized Cabernet Sauvignon.

Now, while that sounds like a dream for wine fans, it also makes choosing where to stay challenging, particularly for first-time visitors, as many of the areas are notably different from each other.

Before we begin, I want to give you some tips and info. These will be things that you need to consider to ensure you select the perfect destination for you and your needs.

For example, if you want to stay in an idyllic, small wine-making village straight off of a postcard, then Rutherford and Oakville are both fabulous options. Similarly, if you want to see the area as close to how it originally looked as possible, then the largely undeveloped Calistoga is ideal.

If you keep things like these, as well as other similarly important issues, in mind while reading, it will make settling on a location as quick and easy as possible.

Yountville Best Area To Stay In Napa For Your First Visit

Yountville is in the heart of Napa Valley, and its probably the prettiest town in the region. Unfortunately, its also one of the most expensive of the cheap areas, and there are good reasons for that. Yountville has more Michelin stars per capita than any other town in America, so you can expect some sublime food when you stay here.

There are also some popular wine cellars around the Yountville area, but its the relaxed, rural vibe that is the real star. Yountville is conveniently close enough to other towns but still feels secluded and secret, the perfect combination for a tranquil holiday.

    Some Quick Napa History:

RV Tips: Visiting Napa Valley… where to stay, eat, and drink!

In 1976, a wine tasting called The Paris Tasting took place in France that changed the future of California wines forever. Like crusty old admissions officers contemplating the acceptance of an eager freshman into their established, hundreds-of-years-old University, accredited French wine professionals blind-tasted French red and white wines against California Cabernet Sauvignons and Chardonnays, and, shocking just about everyone in the world as much as it shocked the tasters themselves, the California wines won. Stags Leap Wine Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon and Chateau Montelenas Chardonnay took first place and, for the first time in history, it became clear that someone could rival the French when it came to wine. Somms all over France scratched their heads while California, and the rest of the world, responded rapidly. In the next ten years, the number of California wineries more than tripled, and, in the 40 years since the tasting, the quality and price of California wines has climbed sevenfold, soaring their retail value to over $14 billion last year.

Where To Stay In Los Carneros Napa Valley

Just south of Napa is the Los Carneros region. A short commute to and from the city of San Francisco and the SF Bay Area makes this region an attractive place to stay in Napa Valley.

Of course, you will need to drive if you want to explore mid valley or up valley, but we didnt find the drive too onerous when we stayed in Los Carneros. Visit in off peak months for fewer traffic issues along Highway 29, or take the Silverado Trail, and drive at non peak times during the day.

One of the pluses of staying in Los Carneros is that the delightful Village of Sonoma is just a short drive, if you have the time and want to explore. There are some beautiful wineries in the area as well, including Domaine Carneros, where you can taste sparkling wine.
