The Lower East Side is a prime shopping, eating, and drinking neighborhood. Its an incredibly diverse area there are gritty pubs and bars, late-night comedy clubs, tattoo parlors galore, and a number of art galleries too. The Tenement Museum, one of my favorite museums, is also located here.

• MID-RANGE: The RIDGE Hotel Small rooms, but with some great amenities like iPod docking stations and wall-mounted TVs in each room. The helpful concierge can help you book tours and show you how to get around the city.
• LUXURY: Hotel Indigo This hotel is dedicated to supporting local street art and artists, and youll see plenty of their work throughout the building. Locals flock to their Mr. Purple rooftop bar and pool area in the evening for fancy cocktails.

New York City is known for its world-class Broadway performances, its history, museums, skyscrapers, and diverse population.

Best For Nightlife: Chelsea

This area used to be a prominent gay district but today it is more known for its vibrant clubbing scene, upscale boutiques, art galleries, and expensive restaurants. There is a gay community and many gay bars as well. It is adjacent to The Meatpacking District, a former enclave of meat companies. The popular High Line, an elevated linear park built on abandoned railroad tracks, is nearby too. A great mid-range hotel in Chelsea is the Stewart Hotel, which offers comfortable rooms at great rates.

Why Is Brooklyn One Of The Best Places To Stay In Nyc

If you want to know what its like to live in New York City, spend a long weekend in Brooklyn among commuters and local residents eating and drinking after work in a varied selection of bars and restaurants throughout Brooklyn.

Brooklyn only has a slightly lower population than Chicago, which would make it the 4th highest population in the US if it were its own city.

Most tourists will visit Brooklyn on a first visit to NYC and leave thinking Yeah, I could live here!

I am planning a visit to NYC this November & was wondering what is the current requirements from tourists visiting? I know a PCR is required to enter the US but anything else? I am vaccinated but just one shot & don’t have a stamped official paper yet – would that be a problem

For Romantics: Chelsea & Greenwich Village

Chelsea and Greenwich Village are the right places to stay for you if youve been to New York before, have already checked out the main sights, and now want to immerse yourself deeper into New York life.

But theyre also great as an alternative if you dont want to stay in tourist areas, but would rather experience an authentic slice of New York life.

Greenwich Village is the art district and, just like Chelsea, its teeming with life. You can spend hours on Washington Square just listening to street musicians and watching passers-by without ever getting bored.

Or you can take a stroll through narrow, winding streets and admire New Yorks typical sandstone buildings, or enjoy a meal at one of the many cute little restaurants.

Greenwich Village also has some excellent comedy clubs, and you should visit at least one of them. If youre into jazz bars, then the Village is a dream come true.

Greenwich Village: Best Place To Stay In Nyc For That Classic New York Feeling

If you are looking to experience the New York you see in movies, then Greenwich village is the best place to stay in New York City. There are plenty of brownstone-lined streets, long curving lanes, and romantic little cafes tucked away just waiting to be stumbled upon. DUMBO This trendy neighbourhood is located roughly between the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. Walking around here we saw many old warehouses, great restaurants, and art galleries. The famous Brooklyn Flea Market is held here on weekends too. A great hotel here is the Hampton Inn Brooklyn/Downtown, which offers modern and comfortable rooms at very affordable rates. The hotel service is impeccable and it is a short 20-minute subway ride away from Downtown Manhattan.
