This European affordable luxury brand expanded in 2018, when it opened its second New York property amid the trendy bars, restaurants, and boutiques of the Lower East Side. Cheap Accommodation In New Jersey
New Jersey is another state, but is located right across from Manhattan on the other side of the Hudson River.
Jersey City is right across from Manhattan and especially the hotels right at the water habe a beautiful view of the Manhattan Skyline. However, the hotel prices are not cheaper than in Manhattan, simply because you can get there pretty fast by subway.
If you really want to save money, you should look at the hotels in Newark. They dont offer a view on Manhattan, since Newark is located a little further outside, but a good room costs between 100 and 150 euros.
You should definitely book a hotel close to the Newark Penn Station. With the red PATH Train Line you will need 22 minutes to the World Trade Center. A one way ticket costs $ 2,75 .

- If you land in Newark, you are closer to the airport

Best Cheap Mid Budget And Luxury Hotels Near Central Park New York City
Central Park hotels are abundant but do tend to span the higher price point bracket. A budget hotel around Central Park could cost more than a Mid Range hotel in Times Square.
We stayed at 1 Central Hotel and it was fantastic. The materials of wood with wrought iron were elegant and relaxing. It reminded us of when we stayed in traditional Ryokans in Japan.
The Whitby Hotel has a 9.5 rating, which is the joint highest Booking.com rating in New York City . We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea in the Whitby Hotel bar area.

Our Personal Top Hotel Recommendation For New York
Our favorite hotel in New York is the citizenM Hotel just off of Times Square, which offers excellent value for money in a perfect location. We had already stayed at a citizenM in Rotterdam before and were really impressed with it.
Each hotel only has a single room category, and all the rooms have the same layout with super-modern furnishings. Were total fans of citizenM and would recommend the hotel to anyone.
A new CitizenM recently opened in the Bowery. If youve been to New York before and dont want to stay around Times Square, then the citizenM in Bowery is a great alternative.
Midtown West: Best Area To Stay In New York For First
This area makes up Times Square, the Broadway Theater District, and all the way west to the Hudson River between 30th Street and Columbus Circle at 59th Street. First-time visitors will be in walking distance to the main sights in Midtown East and have plenty of transportation options. There are also familiar restaurants in Times Square but I strongly encourage NYC first-timers to skip these tourist traps and head a bit further west to 9th Avenue for restaurants and bars more typical of what youd find in New York.

Check The Neighborhood First
This is my biggest tip as a few people have reached out to me after booking a cheap place to stay in New York City only to realize upon arrival that the neighborhood wasnt great and they didnt feel safe walking at night there.
I tend to use caution in recommending neighborhoods to tourists as New York City has crime and carrying your expensive camera around certain areas is likely to attract attention. I especially recommend using caution if youre a woman traveling solo in New York City. I strongly recommend looking up the neighborhood before booking.
My recommended NYC neighborhoods to stay in on a budget: I recommend staying in the Lower East Side, Chinatown, Astoria, Williamsburg, and Long Island City. If youre open to it, consider staying in Staten Island or Jersey City for lower rates.

Dont get us wrong, Central Park is breathtaking. Its full of great trails, a zoo, beautiful lakes and plenty of green space. But the New York City park scene is way more than just Central Park.

Lower Manhattan might not be the first place you think of when considering where to stay in New York City. However, it is filled with tourist attractions and access to unmissable landmarks.
Also, the financial district area is booming with tourists after new shops and hotels have been developed in recent years around the 9/11, One World Trade Center and Oculus area.
No, that doesnt mean you should stay in Lower Manhattan because yes, you could just visit and then take a subway back to another area.
But anyone hunting the best NYC photography locations should consider this area because it is right next to Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty and One World Observatory.
And another huge bonus in this area? Many hotels here offer discounted rates at weekends when business trippers vacate hotel rooms otherwise occupied at inflated rates during the week.
Where To Eat In New York At Christmas
If you are after a neighborhood in Midtown to stay within walking distance to great restaurants that create special menus for Christmas time then Union Square has to be.
You will find so many food options including restaurants like Irvington.
This is an American cuisine restaurant and bar that will fill you up with your favorite traditional Christmas meals when the season comes.
It also has a great bar with unique artisanal cocktails for you to try out.
Another great Christmas eatery is Gotham Bar and Grill. This is a classy restaurant that really knows how to do Christmas.

You can easily spend a full day walking around Central Park.
- Dont miss Central Parks The Mall, Bethesda Terrace, Bow Bridge and The Ramble.
- Nearby world famous museums include The MET, Natural History Museum and Guggenheim Museum.
- Easy access to the upper parts of Midtown, such as 5th avenue shopping, Top of the Rock, MoMA and Broadway.
We would recommend looking for a hotel right along the southern edge of Central Park or as close to it as possible for your budget.

What To See On A Budget
While many museums and sights in the city charge exorbitant admission prices, these fees are a suggested price only. You can visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art and pay whatever you please. Still, most people opt for the standard admission.
If playing by the rules is your modus operandi, deals can still be had on certain days. Head to the Museum of Modern Art on Fridays after 4pm. Its free to admire the works of masters such as Cezanne, Seurat and Pougny.
Want to learn about Native-American history? Venture downtown to The National Museum of the American Indian, which showcases works by and documents reflecting the indigenous people of the Americas. And its always free.
Although an official city pass doesnt exist in NYC, a group of locals created The New York Pass, which gets you into more than 80 attractions for free. Pay your respects at the 9/11 Tribute Center or enjoy the cherry blossom festival at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. If youre spending more than a day sightseeing around town, its a great option and you can avoid the queues.

It is also a really cool neighbourhood -we discovered some great places to eat and drink on the doorstep of the hostel. Just around the corner there is Malaysia Grill which offers classic Malaysian dishes like Roti Canai and Nasi Lemak at really affordable prices. Theres also Xians Famous Foods one of Bourdains recommended eats in NYC where you can savour Xian style spicy noodle soups with delicious dumplings. Also a short walk from the hostel brings you to the vibrant neighborhood of Harlem and also the Columbia University campus where you can go for beers at the very relaxed Arts and Crafts Beer Parlour.

One of the other reasons Id recommend HI New York City Hostel is the wide range of facilities on offer to make your stay comfortable. They have an excellent in-house cafe/deli where they serve monstrous sized sandwiches with tasty fillings ranging from meatballs marinated in tomato sauce to smoked salmon or pesto chicken.
