Crowds visit Old Town Scottsdale on Memorial Day weekend

Sharing the elegant courtyard at the Bespoke Inn is Virtu Honest Craft, run by James Beard and 2014s Best New Restaurant nominee, Chef Gio Osso. The shifting three-course menu reflects the changing premium, seasonally available products, allowing Osso to create the most amazing progressive meal for his guests. Sumptuous plates like housemade chestnut pappardelle served with marsala braised lamb neck, pomegranate, and goat cheese fondue garner the highest praise from Virtus dedicated foodie fans.

In addition to having a few friends whove stayed here, to my surprise, one of my favorite bloggers Lisa Linh recently wrote a dedicated post about it, and believe me when I say her photos of the resort are to die for. If you want to stay close to, but not directly in, the downtown area, and you have a little more cash to spend, the Sanctuary seems like the place to be.

Constructed in 1921, the building is an officially registered historic landmark that used to be the Farmers Bank of Scottsdale.

Once it became a saloon in 1958, the money in the vaults was replaced by liquor.

In turn, cowboys were known to water their horses here with buckets of beer.

Its traditional country bar atmosphere has been nostalgically maintained making its Old West decor the biggest draw to patrons.

Dining At Hotel Adeline

Hotel Adeline has one main restaurant, Selfmade. While the dining room, with its orange booths and mix of round and square tables, wasnt open when I visited, I did dine in the bar area. The cocktails surprised me they were expertly crafted, unique and tasty. Given that the restaurant was serving only a limited menu during my stay, I cant fairly comment on the restaurant. The French fries I had that evening and the avocado toast I ate for breakfast were good, but not really a test of the chefs culinary ability.

Likewise, Good & Proper, the coffee shop open for breakfast and lunch, was closed for my entire stay. I couldnt sample the sandwiches, salads, pastries, and gourmet coffee usually available there.

Based on the cocktails I sampled at Selfmades bar, Ill definitely have to come back to experience Straight Up, the hotels speakeasy. Open Friday and Saturday night, the bar features an extensive list of cocktails, curated flights, and premium whisky. You can find the password on Facebook.
