Your dog is welcome too and there is a back deck with access to the walking path, and a fenced side yard for privacy.

Where To Stay In Pacific City
Pacific Cityâs most notable feature is the Cape Kiwanda State Natural Area. In peak season, the beach is scattered with families and surfers and the parking lot is jam-packed by the early evening, so arrive early if you want a spot.
Across the street sits the Inn at Cape Kiwanda. The hotel stretches down the main road to provide optimal ocean views and a convenient 5-minute walk to the beach. Even closer to the water is the luxury Headlands Coastal Lodge & Spa, the perfect hotel for those looking to get a little boujee.
If youâre looking to camp , Hartâs Camp is the place for you. They offer a myriad of Airstream campers with various amenitiesâa few even allow pets! Additionally, Harts also hosts RV camping.
Sand Lake Recreation Area
Just a few miles north of Pacific City, youll find Sand Lake Recreation Area. Covering 1076 acres, the area is entirely made up of open sand dunes running alongside the Pacific Ocean and surrounded by thick forest.
As well as stunning natural beauty, the site offers a variety of recreational opportunities. At just a fraction of the size of the dunes just outside of Florence, they are a bit quieter, so they are perfect if you want a dune experience without the crowds, especially with an off-season trip.
The area is well known for being a hot spot for OHV riding, with miles of sand dunes to ride over, which are sure to give an adrenaline rush. People come from all over the northwest to ride the dunes, with a campground within the park for easy access to the dune area.
If you dont have your own off-road vehicle, there are places nearby where you can rent one, so you dont have to miss out on the fun. Riding is available all year, summer and winter if you dont mind kitting up.
Along the coast is Sand Lake Estuary, a fun place to swim or go fishing, crabbing, or kayaking. The estuary is home to many birds and other wildlife, so pack your binoculars and see what you can spot. No OHV traffic is allowed in the estuary to allow it to keep its natural beauty.

Best Airbnb In Astoria: Suite With River Views
This is one of the best places to stay in the Oregon Coast if you just want to sit back and relax. Everything about the space is cozy, from the claw foot bath to the views of the river. It has enough space for up to 4 guests and is on the second floor of a private, Victorian home with its own bathroom and kitchenette.
Where Is Pacific City Oregon
Pacific City is a coastal Oregon town roughly 2 hours west and slightly south of Portland. Some of you may be familiar with Tillamook Dairy and Tillamook National Forest. It is a 20-30 minute drive south of there. There is not a ton going on in the area but if you love stunning coastal views, rainforest hikes, sand dunes, surfing and a few delicious food options you will love Pacific City.
We flew into Portland and spent the night there before heading out the next morning for the coast. For those of you planning a similar trip, we stayed at the Kimpton Monaco and somehow managed to eat at 4 different restaurants in a 16 hour time span. Note: do NOT miss out on a meal at Shalom Yall or skip out on Blue Star Donuts. Both are worth the wait!

What To Do In Pacific City Oregon
The piece that Curt and I loved the most about Pacific City was that there was plenty to do, but not so much that you felt badly sitting on the balcony reading or lounging in the hot tub. This is a destination where relaxation and activity have a perfect marriage. Here are some of our favorite things to do in Pacific City:
Walk the beach + Climb the Sand Dune
Like the California coastline, the Oregon coast is beautiful. Walking along the beach is so serene and quiet. Enjoy the views of Haystack Rock or if youre up for it climb the massive sand dune at the end of Cape Kiwanda. Fair warning: This is no joke of a sand dune. Prepare for an epic uphill battle.
Hike through Rainforest
What makes the Oregon coast different from California is that its full of beautiful rainforest terrain. Ive never seen that many wild mushrooms growing in one place. It is peaceful and stunning! Our favorite hikes:
Whelan Island Loop veer off to the beach. It is quiet, beautiful and the perfect place for your dog to run around
Sitka Sedge Hike an easy 3.5 miler through the rainforest and coast. Heads up: in the fall and winter it is Snowy Plover mating season to prepare to keep your dog on leash.
Hike from Pacific City there wasnt a name for this trail but if you hike directly from town over to Dory Pointe Loop you can catch a trail behind the houses that takes you up into the hills with beautiful views of the coast and secluded rainforest hiking.
Surf or Watch the Surfers
Pacific City Is Our Favorite Little Beach Town
Pacific City is our favorite little beach town. We been coming there for years and happy to be bringing our kids here too. Love the small town and friendly people. Getting around is easy whether in a car, on foot or bike. The Tillamook bus is easy to ride with friendly drivers with a couple stops in PC. The bus fare is affordable even if one way or round trip. Doryland pizza is one of our favorite restaurants in town. The Dory Days is the best event during the summer with a parade and dory events, and fish fry, lots of fun.
