Montmartre: The Most Romantic Neighborhood In Paris

Montemarte is fairytale Paris. Located in the 18th arrondissement, for couples seeking romance and wondering where to stay for their trip to Paris, its hard to beat, complete with cobblestone streets and some of the very best views of the entire city, particularly at sunset.
While its a bit further out than the other best areas to stay in Paris on our list, its well-connected via the Metro, close to Sacré Coeur which is one of the must-visit sights. High up on a hill, the neo-Byzantine basilica competes with Notre-Dame as the most magnificent church in the city, although savvy visitors will take their time to reach it, lingering in the narrow streets that serve as the artistic heart of Paris.
It came to life when creatives arrived in the late 19th-century, crowding into the cafes having been inspired by everyone from Picasso and Renoir to Degas.
Today, Montmartre still overflows with artists, including painters who will paint your portrait in Place du Tertre, while Musée de Montmartre features more than a century of the citys creative works. After exploring them, you can relax in the Renoir gardens where youll enjoy views of a real vineyard, the only one the remains in Paris, created by the city in 1933.
Further down the hill is Pigalles former red-light district, which can easily be reached to catch a cabaret show in the birthplace of Moulin Rouge.

Food Tips Eating In Paris On A Budget

Our number one tip for saving money in Paris when dining out is to not sit down for coffee at a restaurant
Drink it at the bar you while standing. Youll save the sitting fee that many Paris restaurants have.
Sitting down to eat will often cost you a surcharge. If you are watching your budget, stand at the bar to enjoy your beer or coffee.
Besides, you will meet more people that way and experience Paris the way true Parisians experience Paris.

Where Should You Avoid In Paris
While every neighborhood offers something different, if youâre wanting to be closer to the action, you should avoid staying in arrondissements with higher numbers. However, if youâre looking for affordability, you should avoid the 1st and 6th arrondissements.
As with anywhere you visit, some areas are harder to navigate at night. Key areas to avoid late at night, especially if youâre unfamiliar with them, is the Gare du Nord/Gare de lâEst, and around Chatelet les Halles. These are well-known evening pickpocketing hotspots.
To avoid pickpocketing , be aware of your valuables and surroundings at all times. This is especially relevant on the metro, and in crowded tourist destinations. Donât stop to buy trinkets in front of the Eiffel Tower or Sacre-Coeur, either.
Ateliers De Montmartre Adm
The interior of the rooms at Ateliers de Montmartre ADM is so chic and exquisite, that youll totally feel like youre living next door to the famous artists Pablo Picasso or Vincent van Gogh, the most famous residents of French artist paradise Montmartre.

The city of Paris is divided into 20 different neighborhoods called arrondissements. Starting from the center of the city and going to the margins, the neighborhoods are numbered in a spiral shape. The center of the city is the island where Notre-Dame Cathedral is located, known as Ile de la Cité and the 1st arrondissement.

What Is The Best Area To Stay In Paris
Paris is divided into 20 arrondissements. They each have their own personality and appeal. That being said, they arenât all tourist hot spots. Parisian sights are spread out all over the city, so no matter where you stay, you wonât be near everything. For that reason, be sure to find a place to stay thatâs near a metro station to make transport easier!
The arrondissements start north of the Seine and swirl out clockwise, like a snailâs shell. The 1st through seventh arrondissements are the most centrally located, with the higher numbers favoring residential areas further away from centre ville. The more central you stay, the closer you are to the famous landmarks. These arrondissements are also the most walkable.

In addition to arrondissements, there are Parisian neighborhoods , which also carry their own vibes. When looking for places to stay, you can filter by neighborhood or by arrondissement. To clarify what this means, hereâs a list of some top rated neighborhoods in Paris where you can stay:
- Le Marais: Spread across the 3rd and 4th arrondissements, this neighborhood is well known for being home to the gay district in Paris, and for its shopping. Itâs trendy and hip. Youâll also find several hopping bars and clubs to get your party on at night. Le Marais is also home to Place des Vosges, and the Musee Picasso.
Best Budget Hotel In Paris: Best Western Le Montmartre St Pierre
Finding a budget hotel in Paris can be tough its a very expensive city, and rooms here are tiny . Finding a place where you can enjoy Paris on a budget and be in a room larger than a closet can be challenging at times.
Luckily, theres the Best Western Le Montmartre St. Pierre an excellent budget hotel where you can be based in a charming part of Paris while still saving money. Inside youll have small but not minuscule rooms, decorated with damask window panes and outfitted with fluffy windows. Out the windows youll have views of Montmartre rooftops.
Montmartre has a long history of being a working-class neighborhood, and though its gentrified today, you can still find hotels here for a fraction of what youd pay for a similar property in neighborhoods like Les Halles and the Marais. Enjoy Montmartre and live as the locals do!

Where To Stay In Paris: 7 Amazing Neighborhoods
Paris was one of my first international travel experiences after I graduated from college and left the US for the first time in my life. I took French for years in school, and I was incredibly excited to put it to good use in Paris. I distinctly remember the first time I spoke French to a Parisian and she spoke back to me in French, rather than English . I was elated Id finally made it!
That elation continued for me throughout that first trip to Paris, which was full of walks along the Seine and museum-hopping, and immediately returned when I returned two years later. That second trip was much less about hitting every museum, and much more about getting lost in the winding streets of Paris neighborhoods .
Fast forward almost a decade, and the ultra-romantic, cosmopolitan and a mecca for food, art, architecture has called me back once again, and I found myself planning a weeklong Parisian adventure that gave us plenty of time to immerse ourselves in the city. And, surprisingly, despite a decade since the last time I spoke French, it came back by the third day and I was getting compliments on how well I spoke for an American.
For those in the planning stages, the first question that usually comes to mind is where to stay in Paris. Each neighborhood has its own distinct vibe and pros and cons, and selecting the right one according to your preferences and travel style is pretty essential for putting together an amazing trip. So where do you even start?
