While I cant deny that Park City in the winter has a charm unlike anything else Ive ever experienced, I think its safe to say that the summer months are equally incredible. This Utah mountain town has so much going on and so much to do, you can bet that Im already plotting my next summer in Park City.

Drive Down Main Street Park City
With a long day of travel under my belt I didnt have the energy to do much exploring after dinner. Instead we drove down historic Main Street with our host for the evening, Rachel of Visit Park City. She recommended some shops for us to check out and got us even more excited about strolling through Main Street later on in our trip.
Then, we headed back to the Grand Summit Hotel for a blissful nights sleep before the next days adventures.

When you come to Park City, the superior skiing is a given as part of your vacation experience. You do want to stay somewhere with lodging that has choice amenities to enhance your stay. On the property, you have access to a heated pool and jacuzzis, a fitness center, and an on-site general store. In the winter, Ive been told theres a ski rental shop and ski storage for guests which makes it as effortless as possible to store and keep track of all your snow sports gear. In the summer, the staff can help with storing your bikes instead.

The Best Places To Stay In Park City Utah
Despite being a small mountain town, choosing your Park City accommodations can be overwhelming. The best Park City hotel for you will depend largely on what you plan to do, whether you will have a car, and how much you want to spend. Fortunately, theres a great transit system to get around so you dont have to deal with parking and traffic. If you visit Park City in the winter, theres no real reason to have a car. Catch Live Music At Park City Bars
After dinner, we decided to explore some popular Park City bars like The Spur, No Name Saloon and The Cabin. Though, truth be told, we ended up never leaving The Cabin because their live music was on point. Theyd given us tickets to see The Brevett, a band that was also in Park City for the first time and playing The Cabins downstairs venue. We ended up loving them song after song, so stayed through the end and by that time we were ready to turn in . Park City Utah History
Park City got its start as a silver mining town back in 1868 a legacy the town proudly embraces. It wasnt until the 1930s that skiing began to emerge as the towns main attraction and pastime. Later, in 2002, Park City helped host the Olympic Winter Games.
Since 1978, Park City is also host to the Sundance Film Festival. Insider Tip: If youre planning to visit for Sundance, aim to go during the second week, once some of the excitement has died down and you can experience more of the real Park City!

Walk In The Footsteps Of Olympians
You can encounter Olympic history at Utah Olympic Park. Just a short drive from Park City, this free ski museum is filled with memorabilia from the 2002 Olympic Games. Create your own avalanche or try out a virtual ski jump at this interactive museum. Outside, you can ride a real bobsled down the actual Olympic track .
If youre there on a weekend, be sure to catch the Flying Ace All-Stars Freestyle Show, a half-hour choreographed show featuring professional skiers and boarders performing all kinds of stunts.
The Olympic Park also offers ropes courses and tubing opportunities.
Icipate In Savor The Summit
Bellies full and bodies limber we headed back to our hotel to relax and get dressed for the evening. We were going to Savor the Summit! Its Park Citys biggest outdoor dinner party and is set on historic Main Street.
I was sitting on the window ledge of our room at the Grand Summit Hotel, looking out at the mountains before getting ready for dinner, when it started to POUR. Honestly, Im still not sure if it was raining, hailing, sleeting or what but all of a sudden our outdoor dinner plans seemed to be in grave dangeruntil approximately 5 minutes later when the precipitation stopped and the sun shone brightly for the first time all day. I was momentarily in awe before remembering Im a Chicagoan and this should be more or less normal to me.
For the rest of the evening, the weather held up great and we enjoyed good company, good conversation and good food at Savor the Summit. We dined with the Riverhorse on Main an award-winning, top-ranking restaurant. Even if youre not in town for Savor the Summit specifically, plan to have a meal at Riverhorse on Main.
If youre a foodie, I fully expect you to plan your visit to Park City around this event. Different restaurants set up beautiful tablescapes right along Main Street and people come together at communal tables. To join in on the fun, make your reservations well in advance directly with the restaurant you want to dine with, as each has its own menu and pricing.

Best Times To Visit Park City
Park City is accessible all year-round and this means theres always something to do in the area.
If youre a winter sports lover, the best time to visit Park City is definitely from December to March: the whole area is bustling and of course prices can be way more expensive especially in January, when thousands of movie lovers flock to attend the Sundance Film Festival.
We did visit Park City in the late spring/early summer and we can definitely say this is a magical time of the year: temperatures start to climb and the whole area is filled with hikers and mountain bikers. In addition to hiking, biking and taking part to recreational activities of any kind, summer is also festival season in Park City. Whats more, accommodations are way more affordable during the summer season and the area is just stunning.

Bike Rentals & Mountain Biking
Full disclaimer that I am not a biking expert, nor did I try mountain biking while I was in Park City. But, what I do know is that Park City has world-class mountain biking in the summer and while we were there for the weekend we saw countless bikers traversing the slopes and exploring the nearly 500 miles of easy-access trails that Park City has to offer. From Deer Valley, you can either bike to the trails or take one of the many bike rack-equipped chairlifts up to the mid-mountain access areas near Silver Lake Lodge.

Park City, Utah is the kind of place that makes me giddy. Why? I am honestly not sure. I cant ski. Im terrified of mountain biking. But something about this picturesque mountain town knows how to make just about anyone exhale and appreciate. For me, its all about the perfect mix of mind-blowing scenery and upscale bars and restaurants. For others, its all about the ultra-posh Park City resorts, high-end ski chalets, world-class spas and theres a good amount of them despite Park Citys small size.
Despite the high-end clientele and the countless amenities, you might be surprised to learn that you can actually find a hotel room in Deer Valley, right in the middle of all the action, for under $200 a night. Crazy, right? Enter The Lodges.

Experience Park City Utah Hiking & Yoga
One thing I learned about myself as a traveler long ago is that I feel most present, connected and at peace in nature. Immersing myself in nature reminds me of the bigger picture. It makes me feel small, protected and massively fulfilled at the same time. So I was thrilled to spend our morning hiking and trying outdoor yoga in silks with Park City Yoga Adventures !

Julia Geisler saw the opportunity to combine yoga with the great outdoors and started PCYA in 2011. An outdoor adventure enthusiast herself, Julia has since expanded to offer a variety of outdoor yoga experiences led by some excellent guides. PCYA offers snowshoe + yoga in a backcountry cabin, paddleboard yoga in an actual crater and more.
We met our guides, Julia and Tina, at Blue Sky Ranch in a town called Wanship just outside of Park City. It took us about 25 minutes to drive over. We were dressed in long pants and sweaters, layered up so we could shed or add warmth as needed. Definitely wear sneakers or hiking boots , and bring sun protection. Aside from that, you wont need much. PCYA provided us each with a lightweight, blue backpack for the day along with water and some snacks. They also lent us hiking poles which came in very handy.
