Phi Phi View Point Resort
Charming two-star homestay with a five-star setting. This is the first, and arguably the best, of a cluster of homestays and self-proclaimed resorts north of the eastern end of Loh Dalum Bay. It is 200m along a path which becomes progressively steep further along, so the ViewPoint is still within walking distance of the beach, downtown and port. It also boasts one of the finest pool positions on the island, with idyllic views of the curved bay backed by striking limestone mountains. These vistas are also shared with the café, on-site dive centre and collection of individually-coloured bungalows of bright pink, blue or green. Each is detached and so likeable, with windows on two sides and a balcony for mostly unobstructed sea views. Inside, there are more vivid colours and simple, comfortable furniture. The newer and more spacious bungalows up the hill involve a strenuous walk. The views are rarely better and they lack the charm of those along the path.

Best Airbnb In Koh Phi Phi: Central Quiet Hostel
We chose this Airbnb as the best choice when visiting the island for the first time, simply because of its location. Right in the centre of the island, you can choose to walk to Ton Sai Beach or Dalum Bay within minutes, however, you wont hear any of the loud beach bars at night. The room is simple, with a comfy bed, AC and a clean bathroom.
Phi Phi Andaman Legacy
Unpretentious, comfortable, central and attractive. Considering the congested location, the grounds are sizeable and the gardens surrounding the pool are shady. It offers charming detached bungalows with a triangular roof, but they need redecorating and the pool seems inadequate. Rooms in the lovely brown-and-white block at the back are better: spacious, with tasteful decorations, dark wood-grain furnishings and a sliding door to the undersized balcony, but those in the wing across the street are less appealing. The location is excellent, however: a short stroll to downtown and 50m from the sea but finding calm waters and sand among boats in this part of the island involves a short stroll. It is also on the corner of the surprisingly busy beachside path and walking street that conveniently heads north .

Phi Phi Nicebeach Hotel Hip
Peculiar name, trendy design, admirable location. The overall vibe of this trendy new resort is of young people wanting to be close to but not staying in all the action of downtown, barely 700m away. Mostly concrete and glass, there is a patch of grass dotted with statues of egrets and flamingos, and the beach, which is devoid of boats and the public, offers white sand and turquoise water flanked by mountains. The décor in most rooms is similar, with a window-side sofa, corner desk, balcony of minimal use unless on a higher floor, and teal-coloured bathroom . Rooms are compact, bordering on cramped, but its all about the views which range from dismal to utterly superlative from the third-level suite. The pool with a whirlpool and kids splash area faces the beach, and the hangout lounge with dartboard and library is convivial.

After an amazing five weeks of house sitting in Bangkok, I was ready for some sun and palm trees. And if someone wanted to bring me a cocktail in a coconut while I relaxed on the beach, I certainly wouldnt say no.
So I grabbed a little studio in the sleepy beach town of Ao Nang and decided to spend some time exploring the surrounding islands and beaches.
I ended up going to the Phi Phi Islands twice in the five weeks I was based in Ao Nang. That fun little beach town with panoramic views and buzzing nightlife drew me back in again and again.

How To Reach To Koh Phi Phi Islands
The nearest airports to Koh Phi Phi Island are Krabi and Phuket International Airports. From Bangkok I took a AirAsia flight to the tiny Krabi Airport.
There are ferries departing from Phuket and Krabi to Phi Phi Island. The frequency and times depend on the season. You can check ferry schedule and book tickets online on 12go.asia.
The route is somthing like this:
Krabi Airport -> Cab/Taxi -> Krabi Pier -> Ferry -> Koh Phi Phi Pier
OR Phuket Airport -> Cab/Taxi -> Phuket Pier -> Ferry -> Koh Phi Phi Pier
On 12go.asia website, you can book book Cab and ferries. There are good deals if you book the return ticket in advance.
Phi Phi Andaman Beach Resort
Prime location, delightful setting but a little dated. This modest resort offers a collection of bungalows facing the beachside path, and rooms at the back of the surprisingly spacious gardens. Bungalows are detached and comfortable enough, but look old-fashioned and have a tiny balcony some directly face other bungalows, while none have sea views. Better are the rooms with a classy bathroom and Thai décor to match the appealing brown-and-white exterior of the block with its ornamental roof. But this part of the island is very busy, with day-trippers arriving for lunch, everyone strolling along the nearby path, and boats lining the beach, so finding a stretch of sand or calm water nearby is problematic. The pool is too close to the beachside path and undersized, but the overwhelming attractions are the setting, facing a bay of turquoise water backed by limestone cliffs, and convenience to the port and downtown, without being affected by nightclub noise.

Is Koh Phi Phi Worth It
Should you visit Phi Phi? If you still want to go after reading this, at least you have that knowledge now. Im glad I got a chance to see it, even though I doubt I would ever return. Just make sure you go in knowing exactly what it is: an overpriced, overdeveloped island that is good for partying but little else.

Getting From Ao Nang To Phi Phi Island Via Krabi
To travel from ao nang to Koh Phi Phi, the journey is also quite simple. You can buy a ticket by walking up to one of the tourist booths and tell them which day and time you want to go to Phi Phi Island.
On the day and time of your departure, you will be picked up at your accommodation by a van in Ao Nang. You might drive around town for a while picking up other guests. Then you will all travel over to the Ferry Pier in Krabi.
The ferry is pretty smooth and its not as choppy as the long tail boats. Still, if you get seasick, now might be the time to break out some Dramamine or Sea Bands.
For me, the ferry was nothing compared to the van ride, which made me so car sick I almost insisted they just dump me out on the side of the road so I could start a new life deep in the jungle, far away from motorized vehicles.

We arrived from a low season Koh Lanta which was so calm and peaceful, we were often the only people in the whole resort! So the throngs of people on the Tonsai Pier was a little overwhelming. But getting away from the jetty, we could breathe a sigh, and start to enjoy Koh Phi Phi Thailand for its incredible beauty instead.

Phi Phi Island Via Speedboat
The second option for travelling to Phi Phi is to take a speedboat transfer. You can take a private or scheduled boat, and both will take less than an hour.
The speedboat is more expensive than the ferry, but it saves you a lot of time because the trip takes only 45 to an hour.
If youre travelling with a large group, dividing the cost of a private speedboat can be a great way to save money. You can also be dropped off directly at your selected hotel in a private boat, saving you even more time.
Experience Koh Phi Phi Nightlife
No trip to Phi Phi is complete without a round of neon jump rope or florescent limbo in the late, late hours of the night! All down Loh Dalam Beach from about 9:30 pm until 2:00 am, the bars and hostels host one big never-ending beach party.
In the evening, the festivities start with impressive fire dances and acrobatics shows. Each bar has different games like limbo, jump rope, and musical chairs. Where To Eat At Koh Phi Phi
The funny thing about Koh Phi Phi food is that you can pay 180THB for a bowl of fried rice on the beachfront, or 60THB for the same dish half a block back.
Our favourite place to eat on the island was a little breakfast place near our hotel Phi Phi Beachfront Resort. They had an epic set breakfast for 100THB, and 3 of these fed our family of 6 with pancakes, bacon, eggs and fried rice.
Heading down into the main part of town where the pier meets the island, you will find western fast food such as McDonalds, and a Pizza shop.

Kayak Is A Type Of Kayak
Kayaking is one of the most popular ways to get about Koh Phi Phi. Most resorts on the island would gladly arrange a tour for you, and a single person kayak costs around 500 baht per day and a double kayak costs 700 baht per day.
If you want to take a short excursion, you can hire them for 200 baht per hour. Its a terrific way to explore the island at your own leisure, and youll be able to get into all the little nooks and crannies that the boats cant reach, such as small caves.

Don’t take photos with animals
After a short white in Phi Phi you are bound to see someone with some animals, who offer the chance of a photo and/orholding them . Don’t do this – they really exploit the animals and animalwelfare isn’t their top priority.
They get these animals by poaching them, often killing the mother of the animal. They areoften endanged animal, and should not be used like this. Also they are often drugged, so they appear more relaxedaround human contact.

Getting Back From Phi Phi Island To Ao Nang Krabi Or Phuket
Just like getting to Phi Phi Island, the ride back home is quite simple. You can book your ferry ticket in advance or the morning of your departure from any one of the tourist kiosks around Phi Phi, just make sure you are at the pier 15 minutes before the ferry leaves.
If you didnt get enough sun on Phi Phi Island, wear your bathing suit on the ferry ride home. Sure, there is an indoor air-conditioned space on the ferry, but there is also a large outside deck where you can, once again, sit in the sun, read a book, and watch the beautiful scenery pass by while you try not to mourn the end of your Phi Phi vacation too intensely.
