Where To Stay In Pollonia Milos

Santo Maris Oia Luxury Suites & Spa

A sense of space

Located in the heart of Pollonia, this elegant, family-friendly hotel offers a wide range of room options. There are studios, 1 and 2-bedroom apartments, as well as a 2-bedroom villa sleeping up to 7

All are well-appointed, with fully equipped kitchenettes, and include private terraces with garden or village views. They all have fresh, modern decor, inspired by Cycladic traditions. The white theme is broken only by beige bed runners and cushioned seating areas.

We love it for: Excellent location by the Pollonia Beach, with easy access to all the restaurants and shops of the village.

What you need to know: Street-facing rooms get the morning sun, but they are noisier than the ones overlook the sea.

We Had A Great Experience Of A Carefree Holiday On The Island And While We Were Discovering The Best Chic Hotels In Milos We Learned There Is Plenty Of Other Sights To Explore Too

The first discovery was just how attractive this destination is when compared to the more popular Santorini or Mykonos. For starters, Milos is quieter than its famous sisters. There are neither cruise ship crowds here nor partying stags and hens, and the atmosphere is more relaxed. But all the quintessentially Cycladic features are still here: good tavernas, great food, beautiful landscapes and locations the famous white moonscape of Sarakiniko being the main draw and charming coves with fishing boats.

And things are beginning to happen on the upscale hotel scene. The big resort chains may not have spotted the opportunity just yet, but when it comes to small boutique hotels, chic apartments, and luxury villas, it is no longer hard to find somewhere cool to stay. Read on and scroll to check our take on the best chic hotels in Milos.

White Coast Pool Suites is an adult-only boutique hotel with a secluded beachfront reserve vibe. The hotel is named after the rock formations on the islands coast, and its minimalist architecture is designed to complement Milos rugged shores. The guest suite interiors seem to melt into the hotel surroundings, thanks to neutral tones and floor-to-ceiling windows as well as private infinity pools , overlooking the Aegean Sea. The hotel features a restaurant offering a Mediterranean menu and local wines. There is also a bar positioned for the best views, especially at the sunset hour.

Adamas Or Pollonia To Stay

I’m trying to decide which part of Milos stay, Adamas or Pollonia. My travel plans is on Sept 2016, stay for 4 days , rent a car, Hotel recommendations ? I appreciate all yours suggestions!

Hi Ive1681,

We have enjoyed both areas for different reasons. Adamas is great for it’s location right at the port where you can make arrangements for a tour around the island – highly recommended. There is shopping, car rentals and many port-side tavernas to choose from. I can recommend Notos Villas which is in a quiet spot, a short 5 minute walk along the port to the port centre. Pollonia is a smaller and more quiet fishing village with some very good fish tavernas at the water’s edge. There is a small port with a ferry taking trips to the nearby island of Kimolos – also worth a visit. There is a small beach. We enjoyed our stay at the Mirabelli apartments, a few minutes walk to the port. You can’t go wrong with either location, especially with a car. Be sure to visit some of the amazing beaches – my personal preference is Paleochori but there are many others. Sarakaniko is pretty spectacular. The villages of Plaka and Tripiti are worth visiting with some amazing views. My favourite taverna on the island is located in Pollonia – Enalion offers some amazing seafood with a touch of class.

Pollonia is a resort kind of place. No large hotels but lots of small family run hotels with its beach and water location its biggest draw.

The Complete Milos Greece Travel Guide

I can confidently say Milos, Greece is one of my favorite destinations to date. Between the unforgettable beaches , delicious fresh seafood, and quaint and uncrowded downtowns, its truly a slice of paradise. Milos has a port that connects directly from Athens so its the perfect jumping off point to spend a summer Greek Island hopping. We took a ferry directly from Athens to Milos, with a few stops on the way. It took just under 5 hours for us to arrive at Milos port and then hail a taxi for a short drive to our hotel.

The best way to experience the Greek Islands is by ATV or motorcycle. We opted for ATVs this time around, and ours was already at the hotel waiting for us when we arrived. Thats about all you need for the island to be yours to explore! Our first priority was heading straight to the beach, then off to grab a Greek dinner downtown.

Unlike most places, you dont need to have a schedule upon arrival to Milos. Id recommend having a few places in mind that you want to hit beaches, towns, and restaurants. Typically our routine here was: sleep in, head to a beach, grab lunch, explore another beach, and then make our way home to get ready for dinner in town. This Milos Travel Guide starts with some of our favorite spots around the island, then breaks down the beaches we loved. The only thing I found tough about Milos, Greece was not knowing which beaches would have lunch nearby so I made sure to include this so you can plan your day accordingly.

Milos Hotels Tips & Recommendations

  • Milos is a picturesque volcanic island with stunning beaches, charming villages, and rich history. Known as the Island of Colors, Milos is well-loved for its crystal blue water, colorful rock formations, and the syrmata, brightly painted shelters for fishing boats, as seen in the photo above.
  • Most hotels in Milos are found in Adamas and Pollonia , both are charming towns with seaside tavernas and wonderful nearby beaches. Both are great for walking, shopping, eating, and evening strolls. Adamas has a little more nightlife . Pollonia is a little more upscale, but nothing too chichi.

Where To Stay In Milos Off

If you prefer to get away from everything, Milos offers quite a few options. Dont worry Milos wont get anywhere nearly as crowded as Santorini for the time being.

Still, you may still prefer to have more privacy than either Adamas or Pollonia offer. Here are a couple of choices:

Golden Milos Beach is a high-end hotel, located on Provatas beach. This the only beach in Milos awarded with a prestigious blue flag. The rooms are modern and simple, and offer a fridge and kettle.

There is a free buffet breakfast, and the restaurant is also open during lunch and dinner times. The property also has a beach bar, outdoor pool and loungers on the beach. The hotel didnt open in 2020, so watch this space.

Hotel Milos Resort, close to Achivadolimni beach, is great if you want to be close to the longest sandy beach in Milos. This is a proper hotel, offering different types of rooms with breakfast and access to pools, if you need them.

Finally, if you want to be on one of the nicest beaches in Milos, you can check out Paleochori. While there are a few budget options available, the best one is definitely Artemis Deluxe rooms, offering spacious rooms and suites just on the beach.

This is a very quiet beach with only a few local houses and businesses.

You can, however, stay at Chrissi Ammos which is an excellent small hotel up on the point with great views over the Southern Aegean.

Further around the point is Psaravolada Hotel, a fairly isolated but lovely hotel that is usually heavily booked. Their breakfast is quite amazing as are the views!

The Best Place To Stay In Milos Overall

In summary, these three towns in Milos are easily the best places to stay on the island and have their own characteristics which will cater for different types of travellers. All of them would be good options for a 5-day vacation and my personal opinion is that if I was staying any longer on the island I would look to stay in Plaka due to the larger choice of hospitality and entertainment. Added to the fact that we tend to hire a car it always makes the stay more convenient and we know we could get to visit other places without too much trouble.

The fact that these three towns are all within 10 km of each other, all located on the same side of the island, makes Milos rather special. You can easily and practically visit all three which is exactly what we did.

The Greek islands are known for traditional Cycladic houses . But, youll also notice a lot of windmills throughout the Greek islands.

Staying in these windmills is quite a treat and we highly recommend doing it on the island of Milos. Here are two windmills to consider when visiting Milos:

Coming To Greece For The First Time Just Weeks After Covid

Milos Greece Travel Guide: Everything You Need to Know

Coming to Greece for the first time, just weeks after COVID restrictions lifted, left us feeling uncertain of what we would experience in our trip. From the minute of Arrival in Milos, Frank and the Lilly family took care of us. Anything we needed, they went above our expectations. Their concern and care of their guests is the best we received in all of our travels in Greece. The room condition was exactly as shown in the pictures. Impeccably clean and in pristine condition. I was shocked when he told us this was their 8th season of operation. It felt brand new. Breakfast was incredible and delivered to your room as ordered and at your choice of time. SO GOOD! We can not wait to bring our kids back to Greece and Milia Gi will be our first stop!
