Balneario De Boquern Cabo Rojo
The southwest coast of Cabo Rojo is where the local favourite Puerto Rico Beaches can be found. On the weekends youll find families out in full force to enjoy the golden sands and palm tree shade, so arriving early for the best pitch is a must. Balneario de Boquerón lies within the national park where there is limited entry, meaning early arrivals can sunbathe away from the crowds. Stay the night at one of the beachside cabins or head on south to the old lighthouse at Faro Los Morrillos de Cabo Rojo, 10 minutes from the shoreside restaurants and bars at Combate Beach.
Where to stay: Enticing us with just its name, BOHO Beach Club is an easy sell just one kilometre from Boquerón Beach. Offering 4-star comfort and convenience in view of the ocean, the clubs other selling points are the pool, restaurant and bar.

Best Places To Stay In Luquillo
Luquillo is surprisingly affordable, but most of the accommodation in the town center comes in the form of condos and apartments. If youre looking for a hotel, neighboring Rio Grande is a better option. Either way, its easy to travel between both towns, so this isnt a huge concern.
Best Airbnb in Luquillo: Beachfront Condo
This beachfront condo is stylish and features modern technologies including mood lighting and state-of-the-art kitchen appliances. Theres also a spacious balcony, offering a large hammock and gorgeous views of the sea. This is a great pick for couples, and avid surfers will appreciate the great hire shops and waves within walking distance.
Best Hostel in Luquillo: Casa Coral
This hostel has been recently renovated, giving you a modern style in the heart of Luquillo. It sits right on the North East Corridor, giving you endless opportunities for gorgeous walks and secluded beach retreats. The ferry to Vieques is only a few minutes away by car. Rooms are spacious, with limited guest numbers to ensure peace and quiet in the evenings.
Best Hotel near Luquillo: Wyndham Grand Rio Mar
Go Outside The Touristic Zone
While Old San Juan, Isla Verde, and Condado are great places to stay in Puerto Rico, they dont do justice to Puerto Ricos culture and beauty. Some of the islands greatest destinations are in non-touristy municipalities like Utuado, Arecibo, Isabela, and Orocovis. If you dont dare to go on your own, hire a local guide that takes you to Puerto Ricos best-hidden gems.

Arecibo Where To Stay In Puerto Rico For Adventure
Arecibo is in the Northwest of the island, a little more secluded from larger tourist areas and best known for its former Observatory. Why is this great for adventure travelers? The hikes towards and around the observatory are among the best on the island. There are plenty of photo stops along the way, so youll want a good camera to hand!
Rio Camuy Cave Park is also located nearby, one of the largest cave systems in the world. The small strip of coastline near Arecibo is largely unspoiled and worth bringing your own kayak or surfing equipment to if you can. That being said, we do advise checking weather conditions in advance for your own safety.

Culebra Island Where To Stay In Puerto Rico For Sandy Beaches
Culebra Island is one of the smaller islands in Puerto Ricos archipelago, located to the east of Fajardo, off the coast of the main island. Its name translates to snake island and it is the least populous municipality in Puerto Rico.
It is a popular destination for both foreigners and main island Puerto Ricans alike, due to its incredible collection of beaches, including Playa Flamenco, Playa Tamarindo, Las Vacas Beach, Brava Beach, Larga Beach, Punta Soldado Beach, Resaca Beach, Tortuga Beach, and Zoni Beach.
Playa Flamenco, also known as Flamenco Beach, is perhaps the most popular option, having previously been ranked as the 3rd best beach in the world. A sandy beach backed by tree-covered hills, it is perfect for those seeking an idyllic tropical getaway.
While the beaches are the main attractions on Culebra Island, it is also known as a hotspot for animal lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. You can see sea turtles while scuba diving.
The most well-known area is the Culebra National Wildlife Refuge, which covers roughly 6 square kilometers. An important area for the nesting of 13 species of bird and 3 species of sea turtle, it is a great opportunity to see some unique animals.
There is even a selection of festivals held throughout the year, such as the Windsurfing Competition in February, the Fishing Tournament in March, and the Craft Festivities in November. Undoubtedly the biggest and most important festival though is the Patron Saint Festival in July.

Why We Went To Puerto Rico:
Id dreamed of getting away for a tropical Christmas with just my little family for a year or so, mostly because of the warmth in winter, but also the chance to escape the Christmas madness of seeing everyone and buying lots of presents. We planned on going to Hawaii, since I spent a semester there in college and longed to show Mike the wonderful island of Oahu.
Ticket prices were high, and I remembered several bloggers sharing about their Puerto Rico trips. I asked Twitter if PR was tropical and comparable to Hawaii. Twitter said, YES! So, I booked the trip shorter flight, less time change, and affordable housing. It seemed too good to be true.
Old San Juan Where To Stay For The First Time
The ocean breeze, the colorful buildings, and the Puerto Rican cuisine make this dreamy Caribbean island a beautiful place to visit! The historic Old San Juan is a neighborhood that serves as the citys center of culture that has won the hearts of many tourists over the years!
This area is located just a 10 minute drive away from the airport and is one of the best places if youre visiting for the first time! Old San Juans rich history and architecture will give you the chance to travel back in time as you walk its cobblestone streets and explore the famous 5th-century forts! This neighborhood is one of the most walkable places in the Caribbean, so you better pack some comfy shoes when you visit this historic city!
Although this area will feel like paradise for those who love history, if youre not so much into this, dont worry, because Old San Juans nightlife and the multitude of cafes and boutique shops will keep you busy all day long! And I highly recommend exploring other areas in Puerto Rico, like the west coast. Youll love every minute of it!
Old San Juans accommodations are some of the best in the city, and since most tourists choose to stay here, so I think you should book your hotels in advance to avoid the high prices!

Ponce Lots Of Things To See And Do
The large coastal city of Ponce, alternately referred to as La Perla del Sur, is one of the busiest and most bustling in Puerto Rico.
Historic sightseeing, arts & cultural events, outdoor touring, and plenty of museums impart a decidedly cosmopolitan feel, while the surrounding sea and beaches maintain the citys tropical appeal.
The public square of Plaza Las Delicias is a popular place to get ones bearings and admire the ornate colonial architecture.
The plaza additionally includes the Parque de Bombas, a former fire station-turned-museum, the mayors residence of Fuente de Leones, and the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Overlooking Ponce is Castillo Serrallés, the palatial estate of the Serrallés family and owners of the Don Q rum distillery.
Visitors can take a guided tour of the grounds and gardens, admire the grand interiors and outer architecture, and learn about the Puerto Rican rum industry.
There is also the coffee plantation of Hacienda Buena Vista, where guests can book private tours of the 18th century facilities.
For visitors who love to stroll at their leisure and people watch, there is La Guancha boardwalk, a seaside esplanade lined with bars, restaurants, shops, and kiosks.
Because of its size, population, and tourist appeal, visitors should have no trouble finding lodgings of every budget and style in Ponce.

Culebra Island Where To Stay For Sandy Beaches
If appreciation for warm, sandy, beaches and a true tropical Caribbean island vacation is more of your thing, then Culebra is the best place to be. In stark contrast to the happening atmosphere of San Juan, Culebra is its own sleepy island situated just a 45min boat ride from the mainland .
Even if you dont plan on spending your whole vacation here, it definitely deserves a day or two because of its unbeatable beaches with long stretches of sand and crystal clear waters.
Its a popular spot for water sports and activities like diving, snorkeling, surfing, cruising, sailing, and many more. Its also perfect for those traveling with their family due to its shallow waters which will let your little ones splash around safely.
Culebra is a tropical paradise that embodies Puerto Ricos summertime beauty. Dont be put off by its isolated facade, there are still plenty of bars, boutiques, restaurants, and nature reservation centers which means playing with sand isnt the only thing to do here.

Best Places To Stay In Arecibo
Though there is a small part of Arecibo on the coast, most of the town is located a little bit inland. This is great for hikers, as it gets you closer to the awesome trails on offer. You can still, of course, opt for coastal accommodation if you need to be by the sea.
Best Airbnb in Arecibo: Tropical Camping
This property is a little different from everything else weve mentioned in this guide, and we reckon its the best Airbnb in Puerto Rico overall. The self-contained studio cabin has a glamping feel to it, with stylish interiors and a small porch out the front. Adventurous travelers will love this alternative experience on the outskirts of Arecibo. The rural location also means you get to enjoy some peace and quiet.
Best Guest House near Arecibo: Jardin del Mar
Like Rincón, there arent any hostels in Arecibo but Jardin del Mar is a great alternative for backpackers. It is right next to the hiking trail up to Arecibo Observatory as well as a road for those looking for an easier ride. Its housed within a colonial-style building, giving you the chance to soak up Puerto Rican history during your stay.

Where To Stay In Eastern Pr
Planning a trip with my wife and 2 kids for a week. Had wanted to visit the west/Rincon area pre-pandemic, but unfortunately the easy flights to aguadilla are no longer available, and SJU is still not great. I think I’d hear too much complaining with a long drive at the end of the trip, so considering the east side, maybe loquillo or fajardo? Or maybe head west an hour? I think I’d like to keep the drive to an hour. We’re looking for low key beach town, nice beach, smallish town with a few restaurants/bars. Not looking for fine dining, usually prefer local cheap food. Any suggestions appreciated!
Luquillo Fantastic Beaches And Unspoiled Natural Beauty
Conveniently located just 40 minutes from San Juan, Luquillo is popular for its myriad of fantastic beaches which include the government-run Balneario Monserrate, roped-off Playa Azul, surfing hotspot Playa La Pared, and La Selva, now officially known as the Northeast Ecological Corridor.
Aquatic activities abound on Luquillos beaches, with plenty of bars, lounges, shops, and restaurants to keep you entertained.
Because of its laid-back approach and unspoiled natural beauty, Luquillo is ideal for travelers looking for a more low-keybut none-the-less stimulatinglocale.
For this reason private beachside cottages and villas are especially popular, with larger resort options in the nearby area of Rio Grande. Accommodation in Luquillo is substantially cheaper than in Rio Grande.
