Which Area To Stay Providence Or Newport

    Hello!

We are planning a trip for summer next year

We are planning to go to Boston for a few days then stay somewhere in Rhode Island for about 4 nights, then onto Cape Cod for a week or so before returning home.

In short which are would be the best place to stay in RHode Island and why.

We are in our late 30’s, like pottering, quirky shops, nice food and the odd bit of culture.

Any sugestions would be good- we will of course have a car.

Hello from the Visitors Bureau in Providence. Honestly, where you stay depends on the kind of experience you are looking for. If you want to have a seaside getaway, I would suggest Newport or smaller communities like Bristol or Narragansett, Rhode Island. If you are big foodies and like the arts and a quirky culture, then I would suggest Providence. We are one of the best culinary cities in the U.S. and have a vibrant arts and cultural scene. One thing you won’t want to miss is WaterFire. The schedule for WaterFire typically comes out in early Spring. You can find more information about Providence and WaterFire on our website www.GoProvidence.com.

This is a review for hotels in Providence, RI:

“I came here for one night to see a standup comic that was doing a show right next door with one of my friends. We got to the hotel around 4pm and parked our car with the valet. There is only valet parking and no lot for the hotel, but the nearby lots are almost the same price anyway. The room was cute, smelled nice and was clean. It was a little small but did the trick for the one night stay. The check in process was easy and check out you were able to walk right out the door. The valet also had the car ready very quickly which was great. It is a great spot and near a lot of things downtown. Overall I’d recommend staying here while in the area.”

    This Is A Beautiful Space

This is a beautiful space. The in/out parking is too complicated. Also there is no valet service so plan to park and walk. If walking or weather is difficult this could be a problem. Not really a big deal except that this is a pretty expensive place. Then there is a charge for extras. One cup for the coffee maker? C’mon. But I would stay again as it is so pretty. Just don’t nickel and dime me.

    Where To Stay In Providence

Like a lot of second-tier cities, Providence doesnât have a lot of cheap lodging, and itâs hard to find a room for under $150 per night. But most other aspects of your trip, such as dining and entertainment, are very reasonable, so central accommodations near the hundreds of historic landmarks and cultural hotspots are usually the thing to splurge on.
