The Ultimate Guide To Enjoy Santorini In Winter
Traditionally, most tourists like to visit Santorini in the summer months. Summer makes up the high season and is considered the best time for visiting the island if you like to swim and sunbathe. However, what most people fail to mention is the scorching heat and the inflow of tourists the sunny days bring to Santorini.
If youre not a big fan of sweaty crowds and busy beaches, the best option for you might just be visiting the island during winter. Sure, you wont get to swim in the sea or show off your abs, but youll still have a great time on the beautiful island!
Dining At Canaves Oia Epitome
The food and the service at the Canaves Oia Epitome were truly top notch and what you expect at a luxury hotel. Breakfast was included in our rate, and because we booked through a Virtuoso travel agent, we also received a welcome amenity and a $100 food and beverage credit.
Every morning at the Canaves Oia Epitome started with an incredible breakfast. You can order from a menu, but there are no limits to what you can order. Every dish was perfectly prepared with the freshest ingredients. Breakfast dishes are usually accompanied by a basket of pastries, coffee, juice, and fresh fruit. The omelette with arugula and tomato salad was one of my favorites.
It is also well worth the splurge to make a reservation at Elements, the hotels fine dining restaurant. On our first night we tried the Degustation Menu and wine pairing at Elements. While it was certainly a splurge, it was also a perfect way to kick off the trip and one of the best dining experiences we have had to date
The service felt highly personalized, the timing was neither rushed or slow, and the service was superb, with true care and joy being taken in presenting each dish. Our dinner started with five different amuse bouche offerings. Some of the meal highlights were the table side preparation of traditional Santorini tomato balls and the Shabu Shabu table side preparation of Kobe A5 steak. I was so happily satisfied at the end of that meal that I couldnt even eat until the following afternoon.

Firostefani Where To Stay In Santorini On A Budget
As you can probably tell by its name, Firostefani is located near Santorinis capital, Fira. In fact, although Firostefani is recognized as a separate village in Santorini, it is really just an extension of Fira, geographically speaking.
Also like Fira, Firostefani is located hillside and offers stunning views of the caldera, but accommodation here tends to be a bit cheaper. While Santorini can be an expensive vacation destination, most of us travel on a budget and when you do your research, you can always find areas that charge less.

Where To Stay In Santorini For Couples: Canaves Oia Epitome Review
Canaves Oia Epitome in Santorini is the perfect choice for a honeymoon, anniversary trip, or couples romantic getaway. …
The incredible beauty of Santorini has made it one of the most visited of the Greek Islands. Located in the Cyclades Islands in the Aegean Sea, the islands classic architecture with brilliant white houses and its signature blue-domed church roofs draws honeymooners and couples of all ages seeking that perfect Instagram-worthy vacation. All this attention can also lead to overcrowding and high prices, so find out where to stay in Santorini for couples.
The three primary towns in Santorini for visitors are Fira, Imerovigli, and Oia. All offer stunning volcanic caldera and water views. Of these, Oia is the most popular and also the most expensive. But if you want easy access to romantic and fine dining restaurants, stunning sunset views, and luxury hotels, Oia is the place to be.
There are many luxury hotels and suites in Oia, most notably those from the Canaves Oia and Andronis brands. Some of these offer amazing locations in town, just steps off the main pedestrian street, with stunning views overlooking the caldera. However, since town can get insanely busy from day trippers, cruise passengers, and tourists , Id recommend staying just outside of the town of Oia at the Canaves Oia Epitome luxury hotel if you are visiting Santorini on an anniversary trip, honeymoon, or milestone birthday. See our full itinerary for 10 days in Greece here.

Fira Lots Of Restaurants Shopping And Nightlife
The capital of Santorini, Fira is by far the most bustling of Santorinis locales, making it ideal for first-time visitors who are unfamiliar with the islands layout.
The caldera side offers one of the most stunning vista views on the entire island, while countless cafes, restaurants, shops, and bars keep life humming.
Theres a great deal to see and do in Fira, with a number of museums worth visiting. The Santorini Archaeological Museum and Museum of PrehistoricThira feature eye-opening artifacts unearthed from sites over the years.
The Megaro Gyzi Museum, a converted 17th century mansion, contains some of the oldest photos, paintings, and manuscripts on the island. The Lignos Emmanuel Folklore Museum is especially unique, as its situated inside a cave and only accessible during the summer.
Fira is a haven for foodies and drink aficionados alike, with a tempting spread of traditional tavernas and nouveau eateries, along with local wineries and breweries such as the Santos Winery and Santorini Brewing Company.
Guests can additionally take cooking classes on-site, where theyll learn to make such mouthwatering fare as spanakopita, moussaka, and kleftiko.
If you tire of the beaches, there are also private boat trips available, as well as guided hikes along the cliffs. Of all the places to stay in Santorini, you cant go wrong with the capital.

Best Place For Caldera Views
Caldera is the sea lagoon that was created by the volcano thousands of years ago. All the famous views in Santorini, overlook the caldera and it is the most expensive area to stay
I believe that my sketch on top of this article will give you a rough idea of where the famous views are.
You dont have to be a rocket scientist to understand that these are the most expensive areas to stay in Santorini.
Akrotiri is awesome in my opinion, but it is far away from.civilization . However, its still a great and possibly cheaper option if you want the amazing views but not willing to pay the high price of Oia or Imerovigli..
I have seen some amazing new hotels being built around Akrotiri the last years and I can easily predict that this is the area of the island that will be developed the most within the next years . If you stay in Akrotiri though, bear in mind that you will probably have to have a car as most of the shops and the restaurants are in Fira, in Oia or at the beach side areas of Perissa and Kamari.
As I have said previously: You cannot have both caldera views and be close to Santorinis beaches , as there is no beach that overlooks the caldera and the volcano on the island.

Where To Stay In Santorini In Winter
In the winter months, you might want to focus on bigger towns and sightseeing rather than beaches and clubs. Choose where you want to stay accordingly. If you want to travel around the island, you can easily rent a car or travel everywhere by bus. If youre leaning towards the latter, staying in the capital is your best bet.
Where To Eat And Drink At Fira
This is just a tiny selection of 4 names. Between June and September, you should book your restaurant in advance otherwise, you will be very unlikely to have a table, not to mention one with a view.
In July and August, things can get so busy that you may feel the service is taking longer than expected.
That is the peak of the season, the most challenging for the people working there.
- The Argo is a great restaurant that should be on your list. Great selection of fresh food and typical Greek cuisine. Book a table in advance and ask for the sea view .
- The Metropolis Street is located in an unbeatable location, with almost every table having an amazing view. Gregory, the owner, will always try his best to make you feel as comfortable as ever.
- The Stoa Bar is probably the place to be for cocktails in a nice chilled out ambience. They do offer also food, mostly sourced from the island itself. Its a great place for an after-dinner drink.
- The PK Cocktail Bar is another great alternative to the Stoa. The view is to die for. Best at sunset. Peanuts and popcorns are complimentary with the cocktails.

Hotel phone: +30 22860 28650An amazing mix of luxury and friendliness, incredible views, and exemplary service. Suites are beautifully decorated. The pool is one of the best in Fira and comes with views of the caldera. This is one of the few hotels that accepts young children, partly because its slightly back from the edge of the caldera. The villas are located down a short path from the main hotel and have fantastic caldera views and private plunge pools, plus access to a large, shared rooftop jacuzzi with excellent sunset views.

Where To Stay In Santorini With A View And Sunset Imerovigli
The village of Imerovigli is positioned just 2 km north of Fira.
Its a great location for sunset, especially in June when the sun sets between Oia and the small island of Thirasia.
Its one of the most charming villages in Santorini, with the typical whitewashed houses built on multiple levels of terraces, all facing the caldera and the sunset.
Most of the accommodations in Imerovigli have a magnificent view, in a more relaxing environment and local feeling, especially when you walk in the small maze of alleys and tiny streets.
You may also have a walk to the Skaros Rock, the ruins of one of the five fortresses of Thira , for a majestic view.
Another great spot is the Ekklisia Theoskepasti, a few meters walk past Skaros its a beautiful church with again an amazing view, a great spot for a few photos.
Imerovigli is also perfect for a romantic stay far from the popular, however busy, Fira.
The restaurants are more local and the architecture is really what you pictured from Santorini.
The Avocado is a great restaurant which, despite the exotic name, has a great selection of local food.
The Mezzo is another great choice, very traditional and with a fabulous view too.
In Imerovigli you will also find one of the best hotels in Santorini, the Grace Hotel. This is an accommodation that has gone through a 2-year long full redesign .
It has absolutely breathtaking views and a special infinity pool. Its luxury at its best. Book well in advance, its a popular choice.
Explore The Main Towns Of Santorini
The capital of Santorini is Fira. You can start your journey through Santorini here, as it probably has the most to offer in terms of culture and sightseeing. For instance, you can visit the Museum of Prehistoric Thera. The items showcased in the museum refer to the times when Fira was still called Thera, hence the name of the museum. It will take you a few hours to go through the whole collection of items in the museum, so take your time and dedicate at least half of one day to it.
Museum of Prehistoric Thera
Another great town in Santorini is called Oia. Oia is located a short 25-minute drive from Fira. You can rent a car, take a taxi, or even take the bus for the most budget-friendly solution.
Once you get to Oia, you will be submerged in the traditional Greek whitewashed esthetic. Walk around the village and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.
Take a trip to the Naval Maritime Museum that tells the story of sailing in Santorini. Then, before sunset, make your way to the Oia Castle. The castle is known for its viewpoint that has the best view in town.
The viewpoint can get very crowded in the summer months, but youll have the place all to yourself if you go in winter.
