This Is Simply A Half
This is simply a half-way stop to Thunder Bay for us. Never done the tourist thing in the Sault – frankly, not a lot there. The downtown is not in good shape despite their attempts to spruce it up. Like a lot of northern Ontario cities, they have had a lot of financial downturns and negative impacts and poorly thought out and executed core areas redevelopments, like a lot of small cities in North America.

MELBOURNE, Australia Novak Djokovic returned to the tennis court Monday for training, having won a legal battle to stay in Australia to play in the Australian Open after his exemption from strict coronavirus vaccine rules was questioned. But the government is still threatening to cancel his visa and deport him.
The unvaccinated tennis star was released after being confined to an immigration hotel for four nights a drama that has gripped many in Australia and beyond.
Federal Circuit Court Judge Anthony Kelly reinstated Djokovic’s visa, which was pulled after his arrival last week because officials said he didnt qualify for an exemption to a rule that all non-citizens be fully vaccinated. Djokovic’s lawyers say that since he recently recovered from COVID-19, he didn’t need to be inoculated.
The judge ruled the No. 1 player had not been given enough time to speak to his lawyers before the decision was made and ordered the government to release him from the Melbourne quarantine hotel where he was held.
But government lawyer Christopher Tran told the judge that the immigration minister will consider whether to exercise a personal power of cancellation.
That would mean that the nine-time Australian Open winner and defending champion could again face deportation and could miss the tournament, which starts on Jan. 17. It could also bar him from the country for three years.
Djokovics lawyers described the cancellation as seriously illogical.

We Stayed Twice Within A Month
We stayed twice within a month. The beds were clean and comfortable as well as the room. I like the step in shower which is easy to use. We were on the ground floor both times avoiding stairs. The inn was quiet both times we stayed. The grab and go breakfast was the best offered on our trip. The young lady on the front desk in the evening was the same person both times. She was friendly and helpful. We had trouble with the Internet on the first night, and trouble with the t.v. on the second trip. This young lady was awesome and easily assisted us with both issues. The only possible change that would assist travelers would be to offer coffee etc. in the lobby and not just in the room. Finally, the inn is off the beaten path but well worth the effort upon arrival!

Sault Ste Marie is a beautiful town! A lot of old, historic buildings. We ended up golfing at Tanglewood Marsh and Wild Bluff in Brimley. Both courses were beautiful, Wild Bluff was particularly stunning. My husband and I travelled at the end of September so the colors were spectacular. Highly, highly recommend!
The Main Attraction Is The Soo Locks In The St Mary’s
The main attraction is the Soo Locks in the St Mary’s River, but the observation deck is closed due to COVID19. The rest of the town is fairly tacky tourist shops. I think I would have skipped it this time. Outdoor dining is hard to find, so your are stuck with takeout or eating indoors at this time. A notable exception is the Crêpe shop across from the Soo Locks on the main drag, which was quite good and had 2 tables outdoors.
