Dining At Hotel Adeline
Hotel Adeline has one main restaurant, Selfmade. While the dining room, with its orange booths and mix of round and square tables, wasnt open when I visited, I did dine in the bar area. The cocktails surprised me they were expertly crafted, unique and tasty. Given that the restaurant was serving only a limited menu during my stay, I cant fairly comment on the restaurant. The French fries I had that evening and the avocado toast I ate for breakfast were good, but not really a test of the chefs culinary ability.

Likewise, Good & Proper, the coffee shop open for breakfast and lunch, was closed for my entire stay. I couldnt sample the sandwiches, salads, pastries, and gourmet coffee usually available there.
Based on the cocktails I sampled at Selfmades bar, Ill definitely have to come back to experience Straight Up, the hotels speakeasy. Open Friday and Saturday night, the bar features an extensive list of cocktails, curated flights, and premium whisky. You can find the password on Facebook.

Where To Stay In Scottsdale Az: The Four Seasons
When our friend told us he was getting married in Arizona over a year ago, Brandon and I quickly arranged babysitting and booked our flights. Its been a long time since weve been away alone together, and after being apart all summer it was exactly what we needed. Before heading to Mexico for his work trip, we spent four days at the best hotel in Scottsdale, AZ, the Four Seasons, with some of our favorite college friends.
If youre ever planning on a visit to Scottsdale you must check out the Four Seasons. Its a bit pricey, but worth the absolutely gorgeous scenery and everything from the impeccable service to the food to the poolside cocktails .
Nora Lane stopped by the Four Seasons with her Mama for the day before the wedding. We spent a couple of hours poolside, catching up and talking about our daughters while Brandon and the wedding guys all golfed. Nora is a month younger than Ailey and being around her adorable self made me miss my girls so much.
Saturday morning before the wedding Brandon and I hiked to the top of Pinnacle Peak. At first I didnt want to go since Brandon wanted me awake at 5am and the night before wasnt very low key. I rallied though, and was so happy I got myself out of bed. We watched the sun rise as we hiked the trail and stopped off here and there to look over Arizona. Since it was my first time in the desert, I was in awe of its incredible beauty.

Hotel Valley Ho For Architecture Lovers
Did you know that Scottsdale used to be a favorite getaway for the Hollywood elite? When Scottsdale first incorporated back in the 1950s, it was still considered pretty remote, meaning movie stars and famous musicians could escape from the prying eyes of the paparazzi in Scottsdale.
One of the favorite celebrity haunts from this period was the Hotel Valley Ho.
Opened in 1956, the Hotel Valley Ho was designed by architect Edward Varney, who studied under Frank Lloyd Wright. All the great mid-century modern details from the original hotel have been beautifully preserved in fact, this hotel is considered to be one of the best-preserved mid-century hotels in the United States.
The Hotel Valley Ho gives off some major Mad Men vibes, but also has more modern amenities like a spa, two swimming pools, flat-screen TVs, and free wifi.
The rooms: You can stay in one of the original low-slung buildings that fan out from the Hotel Valley Ho’s lobby, or you can book a suite in the hotel’s newer tower, many of which come with full kitchens and sitting areas.
Must-do: Book a spot on the hotel’s Magical History Tour, which is a 90-minute historical tour of the hotel. You’ll learn all about the hotel’s history and architecture, plus hear some juicy stories of the hotel’s Hollywood past!
- Show Stopper Shake
Why I loved it: The history and style, of course! I wanted to move into my suite permanently. AND, I also love that this is a hotel in Scottsdale that doesn’t charge a resort fee.
