Tusayan Coolest Place To Stay Near The Grand Canyon
Tusayan is far and away the best town near Grand Canyon. Not only is it located less than 3.5 kilometres from the parks entrance, but it boasts a number of fun and exciting outdoor activities and adventures.
Keen shutterbugs and avid photographers will adore making their base in Tusayan. This small town is close to the Hermit Train and Guano Point, which offer amazing panoramic views of the magnificent Grand Canyon.
Tusayan is also where you can combine your love for the outdoors with great food, shopping and drinking. With charming shops and delicious restaurants, theres plenty to see, do and experience in Tusayan.

Aren’t Girls’ Trips The Best
And that wrapped up our girls weekend trip to Arizona. Two days in Scottsdale, hiking and hitting the town, and two days in Sedona, relaxing and taking in the great outdoors. Looking back on this tripwith much fondness, I might addI dont think wed do a thing differently. We laughed, we explored, and we found that, happily, we are not only good friends, but great travel buddies. This trip set the stage for us to begin planning travel together more often, and in the same year we took three more tripsto Costa Rica, Washington D.C. and Barbados.
There is still so much of Arizona Id like to see and experience. Antelope Canyon, camping in the Grand Canyon, Havasu Falls are my top three. But this quick girls weekend in Arizona was a perfect getaway and intro to AZ.

Orchard Canyon On Oak Creek
Best for: Couples, families

Pros: The individual cabins make for a peaceful and private getaway, and are especially ideal during the pandemic for social distancing. There’s also much to explore on-site, including the orchards and garden.
Cons: This is a small hotel with only 17 rooms available at any given time. Because it’s popular, we recommend booking as far in advance as possible.
Situated alongside Sedona’s Oak Creek, a 16-mile stretch of babbling creeks and stunning waterfalls, you’ll find Orchard Canyon. This hotel is a bit unlike others in that it’s separated into 17 standalone rustic cabins of varying sizes. Each cabin is different, but all have at least one bathroom and your own front or back porch. Additional features may include a wood-burning fireplace, mini-fridge, and red rock views.
Orchard Canyon on Oak Creek is located just nine miles north of Sedona city limits near famous Slide Rock State Park. In addition to offering tucked-away private lodging, the hotel also boasts an expansive garden filled with over 100 varieties of vegetables, herbs, and flowers.
There are also peach and apple orchards, along with a shared kitchen and lodge, a greenhouse, chicken coop, and spa cabin. The on-site farm-to-table dining is a must, though note that the hotel is currently only offering in-room services or meals enjoyed in the courtyard among the orchards.

Oak Creek Terrace Resort
Tucked away in the secluded Oak Creek Canyon is the Oak Creek Terrace Resort, offering peaceful accommodations while still providing easy access to nearby points of interest like Slide Rock State Park and downtown Sedona. Popular activities at the resort include hiking, camping and trout fishing, while several BBQ picnic areas around the property offer the ideal spot for families to congregate. The hotel provides complimentary Red Rock hiking passes as well as trail maps, and guests who forgot their fishing poles can get a loaner for the day. Four major campgrounds are situated nearby for more adventurous types. Extensive off-site dining options in the area range from American to Italian and from sushi to southwestern. The Hilton Sedona Resort at Bell Rock recently underwent a multi-million dollar renovation to make way for updated rooms, a beautiful spa, pools, and dining outlets. It also features an “Outdoor Warrior Pit,” which is a cross-training facility equipped with tires, ropes, sledgehammers, and anchors just one of its kind in the Southwest.
The hotel gets its name from its proximity to Bell Rock, one of the most recognizable red rock buttes in Sedona and has 221 spacious guest rooms and suites with fireplaces, patios/balconies, and stunning views. Rooms are also equipped with mini-fridges, microwaves, and TVs.

What Is There To Do In Sedona
Sedona is especially noted for its hiking, shopping, art-viewing, and dining. With beautiful weather year-round and some of the most beautiful views in the world, hikers flock here to scramble and ascend the Red Rock buttes. Some of the more famous hiking options include Cathedral Rock, Bell Rock, and the Devil’s Bridge Trail.
Wherever I end up staying, I always pencil in enough time for a hike or two, a visit to the famous Tlaquepaque square, art museums, shopping, and tasty meals, and recommend you do the same.
Sedona is also a hotspot for new-age exploration, and many love to shop for precious gemstones and minerals or have their palms, auras, or tarot cards read.
Best Overall: Enchantment Resort

When you’re up for something a little more adventurous, check out the Boynton Canyon Trail which circles the resort. Thats literally all he wrote. And I read it and was like hmmm. That sounds threatening. But then I thought about it the other way for a moment and I was like: hes right. I will not know what I missed. So I wont be sad, because I wont know. So who cares?
I also did not rent a 4-wheeler or take a trail ride or go on a train or really do anything else which cost money. So what did I do? I hiked. A lot. And I window shopped. I took a day trip on my own to the Grand Canyon. And I spent my evenings in my inexpensive studio reading the Eckhart Tolle book my host left on the bookshelf. It was my own personal retreat. Heres the cost breakdown:
Weekly Red Rocks Parking Pass: $15

A guided trip to the Grand Canyon from Sedona will run you anywhere from $80-$300 depending upon how you get there and what you do. I spent $70 for all activities over the course of five days, and in case I didnt mention it, I had an amazing time. So can you. Heres what my activities looked like:

Splash Around At Slide Rock State Park
If the summer heat becomes too much, consider driving a few miles outside of town to Slide Rock State Park. It will cost you $20 per car to enter the park, but I promise it’s worth every penny.
Not only can you enjoy some hiking here in Oak Creek Canyon, but you can also go swimming in the river and get to know the park’s namesake a bit better.
Slide Rock State Park is named after what has been dubbed Slide Rock, which is a natural water slide that has been carved into the riverbed by Oak Creek. I promise, it’s great fun for all ages!
Slide Rock sees high visitor numbers in the summer, however, so I’d suggest visiting in the early morning or late afternoon to avoid the crowds.

The Inn Above Oak Creek
