Allgement Des Mesures Dentre Au Bnin Prises Dans Le Cadre De La Gestion De La Pandmie De La Covid
Where To Stay In Kamares
Kamares is the port of arrival to Sifnos, with a very long and wide shallow beach.
The water is absolutely amazing and clean, probably one of the best ports areas I have ever seen in my life.
There is only a small number of ferries arriving each day and the quality of the turquoise seawater is not impacted.
Its always a subjective choice, however, I think this is the best beach in Sifnos, especially for families that can leave the little ones playing in the very shallow water without worries.
Its also a very practical place to book your accommodation because your room will be minutes from the ferry boat and you have plenty of bus options to move around the island for day excursions.
The part of Kamares I love the most is Agia Marina where you will have the best sunset views of the island.
This is also the town where you will find a good choice of budget accommodations, mostly near the port and the main parking area.
Its a relaxed and sleepy town except when the ferry arrives or leaves, thats when you will see some traffic.
Restaurants wise, you have a great choice and they are all very good.
Kafenes is set in a beautiful garden, cooking mostly with locally sourced ingredients with special of the days that adapt to the island availability.
Folie in Agia Marina is a great spot for dinner or drinks, or both, at sunset time.
For one of the best sunset viewpoints, you should book at Villa Frazeska. Absolutely amazing
It is a one-bedroom apartment with a modern interior

Vathy A Residential Village With A Rich History
Nestled on the southwest side of Sifnos, charming and quaint harbor village Vathy is a hidden gem. With no cars or motorcycles, Vathy maintains a consistently quiet atmosphere, appreciated by locals who have lived there for decades.
Best of all, Vathy is rather inexpensive, and you can get a meal and a room to rent for a fairly decent price, due to the villages secluded nature.
In the past, you could only reach the village by boat, but now you can take the main road from Apollonia and be in Vathy within 15 minutes. While on the road, youll catch the neighboring Taxiarhis of Mersini and the Church of Taxiarches, situated on the beach.
Through multiple excavations, Vathy is now considered to have had great historical significance in old Greece. Archeologists have theorized that people lived in Vathy dating back to Mycenean times, after the uncovering of a 12th B.C. Mycenean wall and the ruins of five buildings.
But the real attraction here is the watersports, performed on deep, crystal-clear blue waters that are consistently calm and inviting. Sailboats will often circle around the protected harbor.
You may also see sponge fisherman scaling the depths below, picking up octopuses and other fish to sell to the tavernas later. Youll also find traditional potteries and workshops, where you can pick up ceramic goods from local artisans and watch as they make them.

Sifnos: The Most Delicious Greek Island
On most Greek islands, what hits you first is the light, bouncing off burnished rocks or painting the horizon a fuzzy peach. On wildly beautiful Sifnos in the Cyclades, it’s the aroma of orange-and-anise biscuits drifting down whitewashed lanes pockets of sage and oregano in wind-chiselled valleys blasts of brine as sea urchins are prised open, orange roe scooped up with salty fingers.
In summer, stepping off the ferry at Kamares, the island’s unassuming little port, there is also the unmistakable perfume of sizzling calamari and suntan oil. If it is early afternoon, I stroll along the hot boardwalk to the sandy beach of Agia Marina and dive straight into the sea. The octopus bruschetta and aubergine chips at the Isalos beach bar taste even better when I have sand between my toes. As a lilac haze settles over the bay, I toast my return to the island with a cucumber margarita.
Although the bakery has gone, Kavos Sunrise is still open. âCheâ is still knocking up dangerously strong mojitos, and the heap of empty Havana Club bottles piled up inside his bar keeps getting bigger. A little further up the cliffside path is a new arrival: Loggia, a beautifully understated wine bar where you can perch on the whitewashed ledge, sipping biodynamic wines and sampling Cycladic cheeses to a mellow vinyl soundtrack. Kastro village is the kind of timeless place that barely changes between decades.

Greece has nine traditional geographic regions, including the Dodecanese and Cyclades island groups that make up the Aegean Islands. Sifnos is one such small island located in the Cyclades range, but the area packs a powerful punch.
Offering some of the best food, culture and fun, Sifnos is a rather unassuming gem of a vacation spot. But, this island is steeped with Medieval history, lush greenery and a welcoming attitude that will carry throughout a stay here.
Made up of several smaller, unique villages, Sifnos is quickly becoming a tourist hotspot, specifically in the summer when Athenians jet out to the island for some rest and relaxation. Once you dive into the crystal-clear waters and try the fresh seafood, you may decide you never want to leave.

Faros A Quaint Fishing Village With Three Sparkling Beaches
If you can imagine a sparkling Greek fishing village straight out of a fairytale romance, Faros would match that image closely. Quaint and quiet, Faros is small but packs an impactful punch, with authentic, white houses and narrow streets to explore.
The Greek name for lighthouse is Faros, and a lighthouse still stands on the right side of the port from decades ago, as the village used to be the main port of Sifnos until 1883.
Faros was also home to several potteries and was a settling point for potters to work their craft. On any given day, youll now see fisherman angling for their daily catch and sunbathers enjoying the consistent sunny weather.
Youll also find several great eateries, family-owned shops and hotels near the neighboring beaches of Fasolou, Faros and Glyfo.
If you want a quiet rest and relaxation way from the hectic crowds of Apollonia, Faros is the perfect place to unwind while still getting that authentic Greek experience.
Faros Beach is directly next to the harbor and is a good place to start your adventure in Faros. At the entrance of the port youll see the rock of Chrissopigi, a detached outcrop home to the Panagia of Chrissopigi, the protector of Sifnos.
Made up of pebbles, sand and shallow waters, Faros Beach is great for little kids looking to take a dip. The water is known for being crystal-clear and warm, consistently protected by winds throughout the year.

What Will Be The Best Village To Stay In Sifnos
Hi all,
I would like to visit Sifnos soon and it’s hard to choose where to stay…: Faros? Vathi?
Are there taverns in Faros?
Many thanks in advance,
Depends what you mean by ‘best’. That may vary with season. Beach resorts will be relatively dead in the early/late season.
It is logistically convenient to stay in Kamares – Apollonia. The first has a beach as well as the port. The second whilst inland is the main village.
Vathy, Faros are small beach resorts, both have seasonal tavernas and rooms. Plati Gialos is a larger beach resort. Kastro is somewhat different as it’s an older village as it were, but the beach is poor.
I stay in Kamares purely for convenience and the beach.
My choice is 1. Kamari , 2. Platys Gialos, 3. Apollonia/Artemonas
Kastro is the place for a day visit. Vathi is a nice place, but in my opinion a bit too remote to stay there. Faros may be good, and yes, there are tavernas. My experience is from travelling in low season. Vathi and Faros may be better in high season.
Sifnos is well covered by public buses with Apollonia as a kind of hub.
You need to say when you will be there before we can give you good advice. The period of the Greek Easter will means that places will be busier.
If it is soon that you are visiting then stay in Kamares – the tavernas in Faros may not be open. Not much will be open in Plati Gialos and even then the restaurants will not have much on offer if they are open.
Karen
Hope this helps…
