Where To Stay In Vegas First Time

Best Casinos In Vegas For First Timers

13 Tips for Las Vegas | Top Vegas Tips for First-Time Visitors

First, I recommend visiting as many casinos as youd like. Its fun to visit the different themed casinos and see how they vary.

Enjoy roaming around even if you dont plan on gambling. Caesars Palace and the Bellagio are showy and grandiose.

I like the inside of the Paris hotel, and the New York New York has a fun urban vibe to it.

I like the Cromwell casino as its a little smaller than most and has cheap drinks if youre not gambling and just want to watch a group hollering around a hot Craps table.

Any of the casinos on Fremont Street are also good, and most people think they pay out a little more often.

And if its your first time in Vegas you have to stop at Binions and take a photo with a stack of a million dollars. You get a free 5×7 print out of your photo too!

And as a Las Vegas first timer, even if youre not a gambler, its still fun to pull the old school handles on the slots!

Most of them are all digital nowadays , but you can still find a few rows of the analogue machines where you pull the handle.

Even more, there are still a few casinos left that have machines that payout in coins!

You can find a few of these kicking around at the D on Fremont, El Cortez and Slots A Fun next to Circus Circus.

Booking The Cheapest Hotel

You may be wondering where to stay in Vegas for your first time? I know its tempting to book the cheapest hotel on the Las Vegas Strip, but youll be disappointed if you do.

This is one of the most common mistakes tourists make when visiting Las Vegas for the first time. Id ask you to trust me on this one, but hey, Id rather you decide for yourself.

Keep Your Dates Flexible

If there are big concerts, sporting events, awards shows, or even conferences, hotel prices may be very expensive relative to other dates, even those just one week away. If you have flexibility, look at the cost of hotels over multiple dates on a low-cost hotel website like booking.com to make sure that you are getting the best deal you can.

Beware Of Resort Fees

Be sure to check the resort fees of any hotel you book in Vegas. The daily fee will be added to your total and can quickly add up. Some resort fees can add a big amount to your hotel bill each day, so be sure to always read the fine print.

In general, the more expensive the hotel, the higher the resort fee. It can be as low as a few dollars or as high as $50 or even more for the high-end hotels. This is per night, so yes, it can add up.

TIP: We recommend booking your Vegas hotel via Booking.com. In most cases, the prices you see already include all taxes and resort fees. You can see the break-down of the price if you click on a little i icon next to the amount shown. That way, you can avoid unpleasant surprises at the end of your stay.

But in any case, always read the fine print as well! Often, resort fees include all kinds of perks that you wouldnt even think of taking advantage of.

If you want a quieter vibe or are visiting Vegas on a budget, there are plenty of smaller and cheaper hotels located a bit further off the strip. Some of them have quite a central location that will be ok for sightseeing as well. For a stay on a lower budget, take a look at Ellis Island Hotel Casino & Brewery or Tuscany Suites & Casino. Both of these hotels have a good location and excellent price/ quality ratio.

Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino Where To Stay In Vegas First Time

A location away from the Strip, downtown or airport, but easily accessible by car or public transport here it is, Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino. This hotel is a great option if you wish to stay away from the nightlife or hustle bustle of the Strip or Fremont.

The area although away from the Strip is accessible as the monorail is located close by. The airport is 3.5 miles away so conveniently located.

Although the location is different from the rest of the recommendations, you will still find casinos inside the resort complex. And hence a resort fee of $38 USD still applies here.

My personal opinion is that, if I am visiting Vegas I would rather stay at the Strip or at the Fremont Street/downtown area. We dont gamble, but we love the nightlife and the carefree vibes that Vegas offers. Tons of free entertainment and people watching , food options make these 2 areas the best options for the first visit to Las Vegas.

Butbut, if on your first visit, you are feeling overwhelmed with people being too pushy or selling special services, then this hotel room can be an oasis from all the crazy. You cannot do away with the lounges or casinos though, even at this property.

Why stay at this hotel?

You Can Ask For An Upgrade

Vegas Travel Guide: 5 Reasons to stay at Downtown Fremont Street hotels

You can always ask for an upgrade when you check into your hotel. This is usually based on availability and whether the hotel is full or not. Politely ask if there are any room upgrades available.

Let them know youre celebrating something special . Or especially since its your first time in Vegas, thats also an occasion to celebrate.

Some people combine this with the $20 trick. Where you wedge a 20 dollar bill in between your credit card and ID when you hand it to the person checking you in.

Good to know you dont actually need to hide the cash youre trying to get an upgrade with. Just place it on the counter and ask nicely. All tips in Vegas must be disclosed, so theres no need to hide your bribe.

TRAVEL TIP Peak check-in time at hotels in Las Vegas is usually between 3-7pm. The lineups can be extremely long. Try to arrive a bit early and get checked in.

Your room likely wont be ready, but you can leave your bags secured with the hotel and ask them to text you when your room is ready. Then you can hit the casino, go sightseeing, anything you want.

You dont want to waste any time waiting around on your first trip to Vegas!

Is Las Vegas Open

Las Vegas is open, without restrictions involving capacity limits and large gatherings.

However, the State of Nevada has mandated that everyone, including fully vaccinated individuals, wear a mask in public indoor settings, including resorts and casinos, restaurants, bars, showrooms, and meeting spaces. Masks are also required on public transportation.Large indoor events also have masks, testing, and vaccination requirements so check before arriving both with local Las Vegas mandates, the Nevada Health Response updates, as well as your individual hotel and destination.

Carry Some Water Sun Protection And A Sweater

Las Vegas is in a desert and the sun can be really harsh here. So no matter when you visit, be sure to take sunscreen, sunglasses, and a sun hat with you. Its also a good idea to pack a reusable water bottle when exploring the city!

At the same time, you should also be prepared for the cold AC indoors. Every time you get inside a casino, a shop, or a restaurant, youll experience a huge difference in temperature. Its nice to have a light sweater to cover up indoors.

How To Get Comps And Fees Waived

No matter what hotel you stay at, sign up for the free loyalty club or players card. Use this card every time you gamble and when you eat the the restaurants owned by the hotels or the same brand of hotels.

MGM properties are generally the easiest to build up rewards with as there are many hotels and status tiers The Mirage and New York New York are my favorite.

Once you pick a brand, start building loyalty by gambling, dining and shopping at these properties.

Building up status will help you get comps for future trips, but you can also score bonuses on your current stay.

The night before you checkout, stop in at your hotels host office and mention that youve had a great stay and wanted to know if you have wagered enough to get some of the resort fees or parking fees waived.

Usually the hosts have the ability to check and determined how much youve spent on the property to see if you qualify for discounts. Dont be afraid to mention its your first time visiting Las Vegas and that youre excited to return.

My Favorite Las Vegas Restaurant

For dinner, head to the nearby Paris hotel to hit up Mon Ami Gabi my favorite restaurant in all of Las Vegas! If you can, try to sit outside so that you have a perfect view of the fountains at the Bellagio Hotel. After dinner, hit up a show I highly recommend Love, O, or Le Reve. Or theres always Britney!

Las Vegas Pool Options

Checking In at RESORTS WORLD LAS VEGAS! First Time Visit – Conrad Hotel

When it comes to pools in Vegas, theres two options: chill or party. Almost all resorts have a chill pool option with plenty of lounge chairs, drinks on repeat, and a bit of a see-and-be-seen scene. If its in your budget, consider renting a poolside cabana where youll have a dedicated space for your group to gather, as well as plenty of shade. Cabanas are a great option for a bachelor/ette party you can be as relaxed as you want to.

If youre looking for more of a poolside party scene, Las Vegas has some pretty incredible daytime pool parties that are more like clubs than they are pools and theyre worth experiencing at least once and more than that, if its your thing. If nothing else, the people-watching will be AMAZING. The best ones in my book are the Hard Rock Hotels Rehab , Mandalay Bays Daylight or Tao Beach at the Venetian.

Enjoy All The Food But Avoid Peak Dinner Times

Just remember that Vegas restaurants are extremely busy at peak dining times. So try to avoid going to a restaurant at the same time everyone else does. Youll waste a lot of time queuing. The worst time to go for dinner is between 6 and 8 PM, and for lunch at noon.

Be sure to hit some of these restaurants in Vegas:
