HOW TO GET FROM ZURICH AIRPORT TO CITY CENTER BY TRAIN

Families in search of outdoor adventures will love the Atlantis by Giardino at the base of Uetliberg Mountain. The hotel is about a 15-minute drive from the city center and during its heyday in the 1970s served as a popular getaway for rock stars and bands like Frank Zappa, Freddie Mercury, and The Who. The hotel has closed and reopened since and today has 95 elegant and spacious rooms and suites done in neutral colors. Amenities include two restaurants, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and a spa with Ayurvedic treatments. The free shuttle running between the city center and the hotel is a perk.

ACASA Suitesalso offers convenience for families with its all suites accommodation, which feature kitchenettes. They are a little farther out from the city center, however, with a location between it and the airport. That said, the hotel is just a few minutes’ walk from a train station that will take you right into town. Amenities include a restaurant with a terrace, a spa, Finnish sauna, and steam room. Budget? Style? There are many hotels within a short walk from Zurich HB , so it depends on those variables. Here are 3 different options that are as close as possible to the station and acceptable in my book, though they are very different in atmosphere.

1) If you just want proximity and a relatively decent price, you can check out the Walhalla. It’s nothing fancy but it’s fine and it’s directly next to the main station 2) If a hipstery design hotel is more your thing: 25Hours hotel Langstrasse – also in direct proximity to the station and they sometimes have surprisingly competitive rates3) And finally, for a more “traditional” hotel right on the main shopping street across from the station, you could check Hope that helps!

we stayed at the St. Gotthard just about 2 years ago – very convenient, nice rooms and pleasant staff. It was easy to get to from the train station – just about a block and a half away. Breakfasts are good, but expensive, if your room rate doesn’t include them.

Introducing Zurich A Little Big City Youre Sure To Love

I fell in love with Zurich after falling in love with a Zürcher . Leaving behind the world of womens magazines in London, I embraced Switzerlands culture and language and made Zurich my home. I found that writing travel guides for companies like Kuoni to Fodors allowed me to really get to know my new home and the people who lived there, providing me with secrets of the city that only the locals are usually privy to. After all, the city that gave birth to the outlandish Dada art movement is bound to be livelier than its official banking center image suggests.

Reliable public transport isnt around just for festivals, meaning you can choose what area to stay in Zurich without stressing too much, as youll be able to reach all the other Zurich districts fairly easily to check off the sites on your list and explore all the best areas of Zurich!

Zurich West Is One Of The Coolest Areas To Stay In Zurich

Train Station / Zurich, Switzerland

This once industrial area is now the newest and hippest Zurich neighborhood. Once abandoned warehouses and factories now offer a second venue for Zurichs opera, and chic restaurants and bohemian bar/shopping venues like Frau Gerolds Garden and Im Viadukt have made their home here. If you want to enjoy Zurich nightlife, a wide variety of clubs offering everything from Salsa to 80s music can be found in Zurich West. In response to the influx of Vegan restaurants in Zurich, this area is home to meat-orientated backlash restaurants such as Brisket, offering a selection of southern BBQ pulled meats, which can be washed down with a wide variety of cocktails and beers. To be a true Zürcher means owning a recycled bag from Freitag, and it is here that they showcase their wide variety of bags in a shop comprised of stacked up old containers. It is also where Zurichs tallest building is to be found, the futuristic Prime Tower, where you can enjoy an impressive view of the city while enjoying everything from a hot chocolate to a wide variety of gins in Clouds, situated on the 35th floor.

Industriequartier Zurich West Staying Near Zurich City Centre On Budget And For Shopping

Our final stop brings us to Industriequartier, or Kreis 5, and, if youre looking at the name and thinking it sounds like a translation of Industrial Quarter, youd be right. However, dont let that put you off, as in recent years it has undergone a dramatic transformation, turning it into one of the most up and coming districts in the city.

Great efforts have been put in, to create a hub of shopping, dining and housing opportunities, transforming what was once purely a place of business into a hip, thriving community.

Not only has this meant it has become one of the most popular places for people to move to in Zurich, especially among first time buyers, it is also a huge draw with tourists on a budget too.

This is because the up and coming nature of the region means it still has a reasonable price tag on both accommodation and goods. This allows it to provide a level of value not found anywhere else this close to the centre of the city.

Its former life as a hub of business also means it is well served by public transport, meaning you have plenty of options for getting to the city, airport, other destinations etc, even if you dont have a car.

Attractions to check out in Zurich West like Prime Tower, Museum of Digital Art, and some good bars and restaurants such as Im Viadukt, Les Halles, Frau Gerolds Garten, Clouds, Schiffbau, LaSalle, and Gerold Chuchi.

Zurich Hotels Near The Train Station

After arriving in Zurich by plane , my family and I plan to take the train to Interlaken the next day. Please recommend a hotel within the vicinity of the train station . How many hours is the train ride to Interlaken? We might think of staying 2 nights in Zurich just in case the train ride will be more than 4 hours. Thank you

I can’t help with hotels, but Zurich to Interlaken is just under two hours by the most direct route , or just under three hours by the more scenic route via Lucerne and the Brünig pass. Either way, you will have to change once.

We stayed for two nights at Hotel Walhalla, a two minute walk from the train station. We enjoyed the hotel for its convenience and for the nice breakfast buffet which is included in the rate. I suggest you read the Tripadvisor reviews on the Hotel to see what others thought of their stay.

Enjoy your trip!
