Best Museums & Exhibits In Las Vegas
Well be the first to admit that were not museum people. Sure, we visited the Met in NYC because, well its the Met. But, generally, history and art dont move us like natural landscapes. Every so often, though, there are exhibits that even intrigue, us, uncultured folk.
If we only had time for one museum in Las Vegas, we would highly recommend the Mob Museum, but our top 3 include the Mob Museum, Meow Wolf, and National Atomic Testing Museum.
If youre an IGer looking for pretty photo ops, MODs is your best option. People also love the Neon Museum, but they have strict photography rules.

In the old days, the casinos along Las Vegass legendary Strip were cut-throat rivals. Each stood a long way back from the road, and was a dark, low-ceilinged labyrinth, in which it was all but impossible to find an exit. During the 1980s, however, visitors started to explore the Strip on foot. Mogul Steve Wynn cashed in by placing a flame-spouting volcano outside his new Mirage. As the casinos competed to lure in pedestrians, they filled in those daunting distances from the side walk and between each casino and the next.
With Las Vegas booming in the 1990s, gaming corporations bought up first individual casinos, and then each other. The Strip today is dominated by just two colossal conglomerates, MGM Resorts and Caesars Entertainment. Each owns a string of neighbouring casinos. Once you own the casino next door, theres no reason to make each a virtual prison. The Strip has therefore opened out, so that much of its central portion now consists of pedestrian-friendly open-air terraces and pavilions housing bars and restaurants.

Formerly the iconic Monte Carlo, the property underwent an extensive renovation and opened its doors as the new Park MGM Las Vegas in 2018. Accommodations have a white and forest green color palette and are furnished with sofas by the window and artwork by the French-American studio be-poles.

Theres no doubt that children will scream with excitement when they see the ride, which goes over 67 miles per hour and features a 180-degree twist and 203-foot drop. And while theyll certainly want to hop on more than once, theres also the Big Apple Arcade for kids to spend their time playing both classic and current video games as well as a cabana-lined pool to splash around in.

For Traveling With Children: The Mirage

Mirage hotel and resort in Las Vegas. Great pool overall!
You dont have to stay at one of the themed hotels like Excalibur, Circus Circus, or Luxor to entertain children in Las Vegas. The Mirage is the best Vegas hotels for families offering the nightly volcano eruptions which are guaranteed to delight children and family friendly attractions like Siegfried and Roys Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat which brings patrons within inches of the beloved ocean mammals and just steps away from some of the most famous tigers in the world.
Terry Fator also performs his puppet show at Mirage and there are many options for kid-friendly food and dining. Even Cirque du Soliels Beatles inspired show Love is appropriate for the entire family.
Keep in mind that children cannot be off path in the casino floors, but there are many non-gambling related activities to enjoy in Vegas

Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino Where To Stay In Vegas First Time
A location away from the Strip, downtown or airport, but easily accessible by car or public transport here it is, Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino. This hotel is a great option if you wish to stay away from the nightlife or hustle bustle of the Strip or Fremont.
The area although away from the Strip is accessible as the monorail is located close by. The airport is 3.5 miles away so conveniently located.
Although the location is different from the rest of the recommendations, you will still find casinos inside the resort complex. And hence a resort fee of $38 USD still applies here.
My personal opinion is that, if I am visiting Vegas I would rather stay at the Strip or at the Fremont Street/downtown area. We dont gamble, but we love the nightlife and the carefree vibes that Vegas offers. Tons of free entertainment and people watching , food options make these 2 areas the best options for the first visit to Las Vegas.
Butbut, if on your first visit, you are feeling overwhelmed with people being too pushy or selling special services, then this hotel room can be an oasis from all the crazy. You cannot do away with the lounges or casinos though, even at this property.
Why stay at this hotel?
Room rates: $52 USD+
